He leaned forward, his lips just barely brushing mine. “Do you know what one of the most important things about being with an alpha is?”
I shook my head as I felt the blood pounding in my ears.
I’d read about alpha males. What woman hadn’t when she indulged in erotica here and there? The semantics of it seemed to elude me, and I didn’t mind. It wasn’t like I was ever planning on being with an alpha.
Or at least, I thought I wouldn’t.
“You need to trust him, completely, especially in bed. We like to push you and challenge you to surpass your predisposed limits, but we don’t do this unless we feel you are totally comfortable.”
“Okay,” I breathed. “Do we establish trust by talking about it or…?”
Sean smiled, a sexy half smirk that tilted up one corner of his lips. “In the beginning, yes. It’s important to talk about what’s okay, and what isn’t. Over time, you learn to read body language well enough that you don’t need verbal communication.”
I blinked rapidly, my breathing shallow as I was filled with sudden desire for this beautiful man who was basically telling me he wanted to possess me. It was part of his instinct, and his personality, yet here he was, holding himself still like a panther as he waited to see if I would be okay with it.
A part of me felt that maybe I should be worried that I didn’t know what I was getting into, but it wasn’t like we were committing long term. He’d already stipulated that, and I agreed.
I wasn’t physically, emotionally, or mentally ready for a relationship, and I wasn’t going to lie to myself about that just because the idea of a hook up scared me.
The nonchalance of it all really irked me in a way I couldn’t explain.
With Sean though, I found that I didn’t mind. A few weeks with him was better than nothing, I could already tell that.
And perhaps he’d be just what I needed.
We could both be what the other person needed. A way to fill the loneliness.
There was no harm nor shame admitting that.
“Penny for your thoughts?” he asked, quietly, his expression thoughtful.
“They’d cost a lot more than that,” I teased as I pushed the rest of my thought process to the back of my brain. Now was not the time to analyze. Not when I had a man who was willing and eager to please me, and I him.
The time for overthinking and analyzing could be later.
It would definitely be later I thought as I watched the even rise and fall of his chest, causing the muscles in his body to ripple with movement. I squirmed against his grasp, wanting to reach out and touch him, but he didn’t budge.
I was exerting a lot of effort just to break free, but he wasn’t even breaking a sweat. If anything, he looked amused.
“Is this your way of letting me know that you agree?” he questioned as he dipped his head and hovered a centimeter above my mouth, so close we were practically breathing the same air.
I nodded eagerly. “I’m pretty sure you can tell already.”
Sean smiled as he lowered his lips to mine. Lightly, he brushed his lips against mine, teasing me to see how much I could take without getting impatient. When I hooked my hips against his, I felt him grin against the kiss as it grew deeper.
My legs ran all over his back as my body writhed beneath him eager for something more. Sean complied by releasing my hands and cupping my face. My fingers immediately began tracing patterns on his back, marveling at how smooth and hard he felt.
In one swift movement, Sean hoisted me up, allowing me to wrap my legs around his waist as he maneuvered us backwards. He narrowly avoided hitting Leia who snorted as she woke up, gave us a beady look then went back to sleep.
He gently deposited me into my chair and kicked my legs aside. He wrenched his lips away, his eyes gazing around wildly as he spotted a scarf dangling over the edge of my desk. Before I could ask what he planned to do, he secured both my arms behind the back of the chair, and tied them up.
I was completely at his mercy as he glanced down at me, a feral look in his eye.
“If there’s anything you don’t like, or don’t want, just yell out stop,” he instructed, his voice a deep purr as he reached down and yanked off his pants.
I hoisted my hips up, so that he could to the same to me, so that the only fabric separating us was our underwear. If his bulge was anything to go by then Sean’s size was bound to be impressive.
It was straining against the fabric of his boxers, tearing at it, and I watched hungrily as he positioned himself in front of me and began to kiss me like our lives depended on it.
When my hips began to buck against his, his fingers started skimming over my stomach, circling around my panties, but never quite where I wanted them to.
I tried to use my legs to move him closer, but the position I was in made it hard especially with my restraints.
“Sean.” I moaned as he lowered his lips to my nipples.
“I love the way you say my name,” he growled. “Just keep saying it.”
“Sean,” I cried out as he began to bite my nipples hard causing a dual sensation of both pain and pleasure to course through me.
“Isabel,” he grunted. “I’m going to make you feel good, amazing in fact. I just need you to give yourself up to me. Completely.”
“Yes.” I panted. “I will.”
His fingers hovered over the edge of my panties, making smooth circular motions that were driving me insane. I wanted to use my arms to pull him closer and paw at his back, but I couldn’t.
Sean firmly pressed his lips to mine while simultaneously pushing my panties aside, so he could push one finger in. I tensed for a minute, unused to the sensation of his fingers inside of me. I choked back a strangled breath, and Sean pulled his lips away as he waited for me to adjust.
Once I caught my breath, I relaxed, and my entire body caved into his touch as if it had been doing that for years. Sean watched all of this, a hungry look on his face as he pushed another finger in.
My legs tightened around his hips, and he used his free hand to run his fingers over the bare skin, massaging my inner thighs in the process.
Every nerve in my body was on high alert whenever he just breathed around me, and they were practically humming with energy when he touched me. My body had never reacted like this before, and it was as much a delight for me as it was to him.
I thought it was a myth whenever I heard women talk about how they could come apart when a man simply touched them. That couldn’t possibly be true. It was an exaggeration.
Along with women who could have multiple orgasms.
I was lucky if I had just one.
However, I could tell I was about to eat my own words because the way that Sean was touching me, I could definitely see myself coming over and over again till my entire body was shaking and tingling beneath him.
It wasn’t just feasible. It was very likely at the rate he was going.
It felt like I was about to spontaneously combust at any minute.
And boy, was I going to enjoy doing that.
Or should I say man?
Sean swiped left then right, backwards then forward, and he took his fingers out then slowly pushed them back in setting a pace that had me gulping and panting in short quick breaths that echoed throughout the office.
In the back of my mind, I was surprised that Leia slept through the whole thing. How can dogs do this? Do they become immune to the sounds, or do they just ignore it?
Whatever it was, I was oddly grateful because as much as I liked Leia, I couldn’t imagine going at while Leia slept in the corner watching with her dark soulful eyes.
I felt myself inching closer and closer towards my release when finally, I tumbled over the edge. My entire body convulsed around him, and I shouted as I rode out the high, and my body settled.
My hair was plastered to my forehead, and Sean gently pushed it out of my eyes and gave me a rueful grin as I stared at him through hooded eyes.

bsp; “Good?” he asked.
“Good? Are you kidding me? That was amazing.” My voice was hoarse as I blew a strand of hair out of my face. “As if you couldn’t tell.”
“It never hurts to be sure. Wouldn’t want to disappoint after all.” He pressed a quick kiss on my neck, above my pulse where I was sure he could hear my heart hammering.
He nuzzled my neck, and we stayed like that with me awkwardly tied up and unable to hold him as he held himself, so his weight wouldn’t crush me.
My eyes drifted to the ceiling as I savored the aftereffects of a good orgasm, and I dimly noted that my office needed a new paint job. The ceiling was slightly cracked, and the color looked faded.
Mild embarrassment washed over me as I realized that I just had sex in my office.
A public space that was rented out to me because of my skills. A place they entrusted to me, and I was supposed to conduct myself with the utmost decorum and professionalism, but I had done neither of that.
Instead, I was tied up to my chair with an attractive man draped across like me like we were in some kind of porno.
Which come to think of it did sound like the opening credits to one.
Damn, that was kind of cheesy.
“You think too much,” Sean murmured as he shifted his head and peered up at me.
I craned my neck to look down at him. “What makes you think that?”
“Your thoughts are really loud,” he informed me as he shifted, so that he was reaching behind me. A second later, I was rubbing my wrists before I tentatively placed one arm across Sean’s back, and I plunged the other one in his hair.
I waited to see if he would move or say that this was too intimate for him considering his less than two months rule, but he didn’t do anything. If anything, he seemed to sigh into the kiss.
He made a low purring noise when I threaded my fingers through his hair and began to massage his scalp. The noises he was making were driving me crazy and doing all kinds of things to my insides.
“Sorry,” I mumbled apologetically. “It’s just that I’ve never done this before.”
“By this you mean…?” he prompted as his one hand rested on the small of my back while the other traced random patterns all over my body.
“You know.” I was blushing, and I had no idea why.
“No, I don’t know,” he said, playfully.
“Well, what we just did with the thing, and your hands, and er….” I trailed off, my face turning an even brighter shade of red.
Why was I turning into a stammering schoolgirl all of a sudden?
This wasn’t me.
I had more control and self-respect than that.
I wasn’t some naïve dewy eyed protégée.
I’d been with men before, and yet that didn’t explain my knee jerk reaction to Sean. He seemed to elicit all kinds of feelings in me. Things I hadn’t felt since my first boyfriend back in High school.
Simply put, I did feel like a virgin.
Cue the saucy Madonna song.
“Very articulate of you,” Sean noted, astutely. “Are there any other findings you would like to share with me? While you’re in the midst of this stream of clarity, I mean.”
“Shut up,” I scowled, darkly. “You don’t get to do that.”
“Do what?” he asked, innocently.
“Don’t play dumb with me, Sean. It doesn’t suit you. You know what I mean,” I said, tartly.
“Whatever do you mean, Isabel?” He blinked, owlishly, and if I were simply focused on the wideness of his eyes, or the smooth impassiveness of his face, I might’ve believed him. However, the slight twitch in the corner of his mouth gave him away.
“Aha!” I yelled triumphantly as I poked it.
Sean glanced at my finger. “Congratulations. You’ve managed to locate my mouth? I would think that you already knew where it was.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Has anybody ever told you that you’re a smart ass?”
“Not recently,” he quipped. “Though I find that it helps to be told that on more than one occasion.”
“How so?”
It implies that I am smart, and that I have a nice ass, or that I have a smart looking ass. Either way, you can’t go wrong,” he explained, looking very proud with himself.
“I can see that you don’t suffer from false modesty,” I said, dryly.
“On the contrary, I can be very modest,” he countered as he waggled his eyebrows suggestively. “I do still have my boxers on, don’t I?”
I smacked my forehead and groaned. “Did you just make a pun about modesty?”
“I did,” he said, proudly.
I was about to say something when the lights flickered overhead, and a low whining sounded let us know that the generation was back on. A minute later, the lights flipped on, and we winced against the sudden onslaught.
My mouth went dry as I took in Sean’s muscular form in broad daylight. He really was quite striking, and I suddenly felt acutely self-conscious of the way I looked sitting with my legs spread across the chair. I coughed as I sat up straighter, and discreetly closed my legs.
“You’re even more beautiful in fluorescent lighting,” he said, his voice ringing with sincerity as his gaze raked over my body in a way that made me aware of the fact that we hadn’t finished what we started.
“Nobody looks good in fluorescent lighting,” I joked as I crossed my arms over my chest.
“You do,” he insisted as he shifted back on his heels and stared at me through hooded eyes.
A low bark made us both give a start of confusion. Our heads turned at the same time to find Leia wide awake and staring at us with a knowing look on her face.
“Hey there girl,” Sean greeted. “You slept right through the whole thing.”
I wondered what thing he meant exactly.
The electricity going off, or our little escapade?
Either way, it didn’t matter. Once Sean moved away, I hastily snatched my shirt off the floor and slipped it on. In another minute, I was wriggling into my jeans.
“Dressed already?” Sean sounded, disappointed as he watched me from next to Leia. He was still in his boxers, and he was still very turned on by the looks of him, but he wasn’t making any moves. Maybe because he sensed I was embarrassed. I had no idea what the reason was, and I didn’t care.
I was thankful if anything.
“Yeah, I, um…” I trailed off, not knowing what to say.
Thank you for fingering me?
That didn’t sound quite right.
“I am too,” Sean responded with a grin. “Maybe we can do this again sometime. Just not in an office though don’t get me wrong. It was fun to indulge in that fantasy.”
I laughed. “Yeah, it was, and sure, I’d like that.”
With that, Sean got dressed, and he watched me watch him, and there was something spine tingling-ly erotic about the whole thing.
Yeah, I was definitely going to have a hard time with him.

“Dr. Lewis, the ER is prepped for you,” my assistant announced as I wheeled into the room. I quickly slipped on gloves and fastened the surgical mask.
Zeus was just wheeled in a few minutes ago because he had a severe infection. It wasn’t because of anything his owner did, but rather just bad luck, but I was hopeful that I’d be able to save him before it spread.
It was already bleeding heavily, and I wanted to staunch the wound before I could operate. My assistant used the suction to clear away some of the blood, so I could see, and I speedily got to work, trying to not focus on the heart monitor that let me know that his pulse was weak.
“I need a scalpel, stat,” I instructed as I made a small incision and began to clean up the wound.
“How’s his blood pressure?” I asked as I glanced up into the worried face of my assistant.
“Not doing so well,” my assistant confessed, grimly.
“Is he having an allergic reaction to anything?” I inquired as my mind race
d through the possibilities.
“No, his blood work came back clean,” The assistant informed me.
His heart started flatlining, and my sweat began to pool on my forehead as I bit down on my lip.
“Get me the defibrillator now,” I barked as I waited for it to charge. Once it did, I yelled out ‘Clear’ and placed it on top of his heart. His body gave a jolt at the contact, but nothing changed.
My assistant hit the button, and I waited a few more seconds before I tried again.

“Isabel?” Sean’s voice was groggy as he stood in the doorway of his second-floor apartment. He was shirtless and wearing a pair of sweatpants that hung dangerously low over his hips.
“I didn’t know where else to go,” I hiccoughed.
Instantly, his face was alert, his eyes searching my tear stained face. “What happened? Is that blood on your hands?”
Numbly, I stared down at my hands and realized I’d forgotten to wash them. “It’s not mine. It’s Zeus’s.”
He looked instantly relieved then confused. “Who’s Zeus?”
“He’s my patient, a dog, he is–” I choked on the last word. “Was my patient.”
Understanding dawned on Sean’s features as he opened the door and ushered me in. “You’re shivering.”
I hadn’t realized he said it till I noticed that my teeth wouldn’t stop chattering. Gently, he pushed me into the couch and draped a blanket over me. He strode towards the kitchen, and I could hear the clang and banging of cupboards as he looked for something.
Sean emerged a minute later and sat in front of me. He took my hands in his. “What happened?”
“It wasn’t supposed to be like that. It was a simple wound. I treated it a week ago. He was supposed to come in for a checkup, but it got infected,” I said, in a small voice, the tremor making me pause every so often.
A tear slide down my face, and I extracted one hand to angrily wipe it away. “I should’ve seen this coming. I should’ve kept him for observation.”
“You couldn’t have known,” Sean reasoned, softly. “You said it was a routine procedure, right?”
