  Prologue

  Luke & Alex age 16

Alex lunged towards me, his sword stretched out in front of him.

“The more we fence, the worse you get,” he chided, inching forward his sword far too close for comfort.

“That’s because I’ve been busy doing other things while you’ve been prancing around with your prick.”

He gave me a Cheshire grin. “I’m not the only one who’s been prancing around with his prick.” We crossed swords as we both struggled for the upper hand. He was no match for my strength, but I none for his sword. He slashed through the air and landed the rubber tip right next to my crown jewels.

“Watch it,” I snapped, out of breath. “I don’t see why you fancy this so much. There are far more interesting hobbies around the palace.”

  “It’s a noble hobby.”

  “It’s outdated.”

“It builds skill, character, and by the end of a match, you know all your enemy’s weaknesses. For example, you can’t get your head out of your arse because of last night’s shenanigans. You can’t focus because you constantly have fanny on the brain.”

“When did you become the moral police? Just dip your cock already, boy or girl, it doesn’t matter. Get it over with and stop obsessing.”

“I’m. Not. Like. You,” Alex challenged, every word he spoke in time with a blocked strike from me. “I won’t just dip my prick into any girl.”

“That’s because you aren’t sure about them.”

“I’m sure I fancy them,” he said resolute. Over the past year, he’d been coming to me with his deepest confessions, he wasn’t sexually confused, but curious. I’d lost my virginity a year prior and for some reason, he thought me the authority on sex. Though I had to admit, I’d been an eager student and I had some pretty knowledgeable teachers. Alex read my posture. “Who are you thinking about now, Romeo?”

“Don’t be stupid. No one in particular.”

Alex’s gaze hardened. “That’s my problem. I don’t want to end up with an arse like you. No loyalty.”

I grinned. “I’m loyal to you.”

He raised his sword. “That you are, cousin, and it would do you good to remember that when you become king, since you can’t handle a sword.”

“Someone will come along and change your mind,” I said, inching towards him in the garden. “And I handle my sword just fine, ask your chambermaid.” I lunged for him sticking him straight in the heart. An unreadable expression marred his features and I followed his line of sight to the driveway. Stunned, I stood with my sword lax in my hands while a golden-haired beauty exited a black Mercedes and glanced in our direction.

  “Alex, who is that?”

He remained tight-lipped for a moment. The impact of the mere sight of her was just as evident when he spoke. “I have no idea.”

“Christ, she’s beautiful.” Just as I uttered the words, her eyes found mine.

  One

  LUKE

Suffering due to sins of the father is typically how it goes, but as the son of a predatory and entitled mother, I’d fallen victim to the consequences of her indiscretions. For years she stacked her enemies, making her allies hard to find. Those enemies hadn’t been hard pressed to expose her when prompted by her behaviour, much to my father’s humiliation. Over the years, I have dealt with my fair share of embarrassment. While humiliation is typical when her faux pas went public, the cost of her biggest impropriety came at a much higher price, for me. It cost me my chance at the throne.

Her husband, my father—the Queen’s oldest brother— apparently hadn’t been the one to father me. My mother’s deathbed confession had led us both down a dark road of hell where my father remained with one foot in the grave, barely able to glance at me. It was my darkest secret at my lowest point and I shared it with the two people I trusted the most.

  My biggest mistake.

Flipping through my phone, I recoiled as I pushed the hair away from Clara’s face.

“Darling, you’re going to have to try harder.”

I went back to my internet prowling in an attempt to dig up some dirt. I was in dire need of information and while it lay scarce around the palace—because tightly shut lips often surrounded me—I utilised a source no one would suspect for accurate information, the tabloids. Certain people loyal to the family had loose tongues when it came to bragging rights in regard to association. For instance, today I found out my new queen was a fan of dark chocolate. That’s useless information for most, but not for me. I knew she was at her lowest and most emotional when those cravings hit her. I never failed to search for anything that may seem trivial that I could use to my advantage. I was about to declare war and was leaving no stone unturned for weaponry.

I winced as I stopped Clara’s movement with my palm on her head. “Easy on the teeth and I’m still not impressed.”

Clara glared at me with a mouth full of my cock.

“Don’t get upset, precious, but if you can’t handle it in your mouth, you’re not going to get it anywhere else.” She sucked harder, finally earning some of my attention but quickly lost it due to the shitty view I had of her tits. She’d worn an eyesore of a blouse, so very plain it made khaki more appealing.

“Undo a few buttons,” I ordered as I thrust in, hitting the back of her throat, her answering gag finally had my dick fully hard. I gripped her chin as she opened wider, taking me fully and felt my balls tighten.

“Better,” I whispered, fucking her mouth as she began to moan. Finally high, I lifted her to stand and turned her away from me to face the library shelf behind my desk. “Pull up your skirt and show me that beautiful arse.”

She did my bidding and I reached out and ran a hand over the creamy white skin. “Lovely, now pull down those knickers and show me that pretty fanny.”

  “Oh, God, Luke.”

“Be sweet and I’ll make you come so hard you’ll be crying.”

Another moan escaped her as I slapped her soaked pussy with two fingers before shoving them inside to stretch her.

Gasping and gripping the edge of my desk, she begged for my cock as I slowly tortured her with th
e idea of being full of it. I continued my internet search until I found it fruitless and Clara had come twice. Discarding the phone, I pumped my dick a few times before sliding on a condom. Clara had a beautiful arse, a plain face and a lovely voice which I knew would make a sweet moan. I would fuck her arse and make her hoarse before the night was over. I’d spent only a few days courting her, but tonight would be the end of our affair. She didn’t belong to me anyway. I pressed my finger into the tight hole between her sweet cheeks.

  “No one has been here?”

“No,” she gasped as I slammed into her pussy.

  “Allow me the honour?”

She was choking on the feel of my cock. It happened often, and I gave her a minute to adjust.

“I can’t handle that,” she rasped out as I thrust in.

“You’re handling everything else just fine.”

“Please, Luke,” she screeched as I picked up speed.

  “Please, what?”

She was out of her mind as she grappled with the intensity of my thrusts. She was tight, wet and entertaining, and it was just enough to make it interesting. I’d been bored dealing with the same palace pussy for the last five years. I had no issue stepping outside of the mundane drivel of everyday royal life to dip into something of a different variety, but I’d had my hand slapped one too many times. Clara was a godsend—a distant cousin of one of my old school mates—new money and innocent. She was far too sweet to take seriously, and we weren’t on any part of the same level. I would be a memory for her, the time she went slumming with the Duke of shit. That wasn’t exactly my title, but my title meant nothing since Alex had spilt the secret that I was a bastard, relieving me of my throne where he now sat with his queen, the woman who I’d envisioned as my own.

Pissed off seemed to be my emotional state for the past five years since his wife, Sarafina—our newly deemed Queen Consort as of last week—had been my fiancée up until the night before I was betrayed.

In short, Alex went to the Queen with my secret who then summoned my father and me to confirm the truth. As much as the man who raised me hated looking at me, he tried his best to fight for my cause while the love of my life daggered my back and confirmed it. I’d always known the Queen favoured her deceased younger brother more than my father, but she seemed overjoyed upon finding out she was stripping us both of a lifelong dream, especially when we saw her smirk appear. Alex had been more than a cousin to me, he had been a best friend. I would never understand what prompted him to make the leap for the throne. But maybe deep down he’d been the wolf in sheep’s clothing. I never suspected him of making a play for the crown or for Sarafina, but history had been made when he went for both and got them in one fell swoop.

Together they ruled because of their common bonds. They were both hard-working, decent and seemingly loyal people. They were everything I aspired to be, but life decided to throw me the poisoned apple and instead of throwing it away, I took a bite. I was filled with it, the bitter taste turning me into the power-hungry bastard I was.

I slapped the creamy skin that bounced in front of me as Clara begged for her release. Swivelling my hips, I hit her deep as she bowed off the desk crying and praying as she came, her body shaking with her orgasm.

  “Oh, my God, oh fuck.”

“Dirty mouth. On your knees Clara, it’s time to finish what you started.”

She sank down, sitting on her heels, her eyes filled with desire as she opened her mouth and I pumped my come down her throat. Trailing my fingers down her cheek, she pressed her face against my gentle touch before looking up at me with a sheepish smile.

I wrinkled my nose at her. “Didn’t know you liked it so dirty, did you?”

I was rewarded with a breathless, “No.”

“I assumed as much. Now up on the desk, we have more work to do. I think you know the way to thank me for your revelation.”

Her jaw dropped as she tossed the rest of her clothes on the floor.

Naked and beautiful, she looked to me for direction that I gladly gave. “Lie on your back and spread them wide.”

It was amazing to me how much dignity a woman had until you unravelled them with an orgasm. But there is something to be said for vulnerability. It’s the best weapon, a gateway. I’d been vulnerable countless times with the man I now bowed to. And he’d used it against me to take my crown and the woman who held my heart. My trust and love had been discarded by both for their own agenda.

So now I had an agenda of my own.

Though he seemed a good man to his very core, Alex had done one thing in his life to feel remorse for. He’d destroyed me by spilling a secret and it was time for him to pay for his greed. His wife would equally fall victim to my best-laid plans. She was just as guilty.

Every day I got a step closer.

Clara screamed as I breached a sacred part of her, making her beg for my mercy. I rewarded her by making her come until her voice went hoarse.

Patience and hard work always paid off. I might not have my crown, but Alex would soon find himself weary of it. I would make sure of it because I would be the one to deliver his demise the same way he’d served it to me, bite by delicious bite.

And when he was full, I would make sure his dinner mint was too much to stomach.

Sarafina would suffer all the more and neither of them will know what hit them. Though united in front of the world and the perfect picture of solidarity, I could already see the cracks in their foundation. Things weren’t going well in the palace bedroom and the proof was written all over her face. And then there was the fact they had yet to produce an heir.

Now that Sarafina was queen, I would make it my mission to cash in on their weakness, to level the playing field with my hidden agenda to make sure their foundation was filled with so much turmoil they remained propped on weak footings.

I was going to take down a kingdom by picking at the cracks.

Alex was my true mark, but Sarafina was my motivation... and the key.

Because the only way to bring down a king is by stealing his queen.

  Two

  LUKE

“Luke, this is important. If you want any sort of a future, you have to attend. Appearances are imperative.”

  “I’m not known for being a do-gooder.”

“No, you’re known as a scoundrel.”

I gave Remington a crocodile smile. “Then I’ve done my job.”

“The King has called the royal court tonight for dinner at seven. Luke, just take twenty minutes out of your philandering to show up today. It’s important to the Queen.”

“Fine.” I gripped his face in my palms, his ruddy complexion got redder with embarrassment. “I’ll go today and dine tonight if only to make you smile, you miserable bastard.”

“Jesus, I hate you,” he bit out in disgust.

“Thanks,” I said, letting him go, but not without slapping him playfully for good measure.

“Of all the posts I could have been assigned to.”

I knotted my tie. “You got stuck with the bastard son who lost his place in line for the throne and decided to outdo his mother’s reputation.”

He handed me my cufflinks. “Well put. But Luke, you may still be able to save some face. There are so many opportunities for you to redeem yourself. I strongly urge you to hear me out.”

“No thanks, my good man. I’m all set. I learned how to play nice in school.”

  “You learned nothing.”

“I learned how to French kiss. I’m quite a good kisser.”

  “You’re vile.”

  “You secretly adore me.”

  “I detest you.”

“As long as we’re speaking so freely, you should probably stop watching me sleep. Unfortunately for you, I don’t swing left and right, but I do know someone who may be interested.”

Remington fumed as he pulled out my favourite pair of brogues from my wardrobe and tossed them on the floor in front of me. The gesture was so unlike him, and I had
to admit, seeing him so distraught made my morning so much better.

“Get me a drink. Two fingers.”

  “It’s ten in the morning.”

“Ah, well then, make it three.”

  “Luke—”

“This isn’t a debate. It would do you good to remember, I ask you to advise me, but it’s not your position. Fetch my drink and keep your fucking mouth shut until I’ve made my leave. I don’t want to fire you before I’ve had my breakfast.”

Remington eyed the silver tray filled with sustenance which was far from my idea of breakfast.

I sighed, bored with the debate as he scurried away. Eyeing my reflection and satisfied, I pulled on my suit jacket. Tossing back my scotch, I gave Remington the side eye in warning as I made my way towards my garage. I was done with his hopeful drivel. There was no honour or goodwill with my agenda.

“Will there be anything else, sir?” he asked, following me through the kitchen.

“No, you’re free to wank off to my photo albums. There’s a good chance I’ll be entertaining tonight, so make sure to clean up after.”

Remington refused to meet my eyes because every word I said was true. He’d been obsessed with me for years and though I’d been urged by the family to change my ways, it irritated me to no end that even the help was trying to save me.

Starting my Audi, I shot out of my garage utilising every bit of its horsepower as I made my way towards my queen. Another visit to another orphanage. Sarafina had far too much time on her hands, and I knew why. Alex kept busy entertaining and she was often not invited to the party. She’d made her royal bed, I didn’t have an ounce of pity for her.
