Eclipse of the Heart Page 7

by J. L. Hendricks

I walked to my room to start pulling together my bag and figured Lancer would smooth it all over with the Commander. But I was wrong.

While I was packing my back the Commander came to my room and just walked in, the door was open. “B’Lana, you can’t just go up to Santa Barbara without preparing. You could be walking into a trap.”

“I don’t care, if I don’t get her today she will most likely be dead, or worse, by tomorrow. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time while searching for me. This is exactly why I should have spoken to her and let her know that I was safe. If I had, she never would have been there to begin with. It’s actually all your fault for making me stay away from her! Now get out of my way. I am going with or without your support.” I went back to packing my bag. I took my entire underwear drawer and just dumped it into my bag and then grabbed jeans and anything else I saw to stuff into my bag.

I walked out into the hallway and yelled out, “Whoever is going with me better be loaded up and ready to go within the hour. We are leaving tonight.” Then I walked over to a computer so I could look up hotels across town from where the rippers where located.

Lancer and Ash walked up to me, “B’Lana we need more than an hour to get situated and come up with a plan. We can’t leave here until we have a plan.” Lancer sat down in the chair next to me.

“Lancer, we can come up with a plan on the drive there. I will have a hotel for us to stay and then we can spend the evening searching for them. If we go now we might catch them off guard. They would expect us to make plans before looking for them. They don’t even know that we know where they are yet. Come on, you have to support me on this.”

“B, I am not leaving you alone. I know you are mad at me but I won’t let you go alone. Even if it is just the two of us, I am going with you tonight.” Ash tried to put his hand on my shoulder, but I squirmed away from him.

“Ash I’m not mad anymore, but I thought you knew me better. I wouldn’t have killed them unless I had no choice. You should know that about me.”

I continued to look for a hotel and then made reservations for four rooms. I figured some would go with me.

An hour later I was loading the Hummer with all of the equipment I knew I would need when all of the squads came over to me with their bags and gear. I stopped what I was doing and just stared at everyone. A single tear fell down my face as I started to smile.

They were all joining me in my search for DeeDee.

What’s next? Another book is coming out in late May or early June. Check out my blog, FB page, or Twitter to see when it is coming and the title of it!

Please leave a review on Amazon! An author rely’s on those reviews. Amazon uses the number of reviews in their algorithms and book marketing plans. I don’t know the math behind it all, but the more reviews, the better the position of the book. Also, there are some marketing channels I can’t get into until I have more review. So help an author out and leave a review? Please?

If you want to see some snippets of the new books or check out the new book covers, come over to my blog at: https://jlhendricksblog.wordpress.com/blog/

If you sign up to be on my mailing list over at my blog, then you will get no more than 2 e-mails a month. I will only e-mail when I have something really big to report, like a new book release, a free short story, or some other freebie.

You can also chat with me and others on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/JLHendricksAuthor/

Regular messages will also be tweeted, if you care to follow me @TinkFan25

  Acknowledgements

This book wouldn’t be nearly as good if it weren’t for my beta readers! Thank you so much to: Bree Buras, Dawnya Goode, Dorene Johnson, and Diane Velasquez. You ladies have done a brilliant job at making sure my mistakes are small, and my story stays on track! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I am involved with a writing group that Michael Anderle started. When I first joined there were six of us, now there are almost 150! Some have published many titles already, some are industry people, and some are just starting out like I was when I first joined. This group has encouraged me from the start and helped me to fine tune everything from my book covers, to my blurbs, even to certain passages in the books. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and love of writing!

  Author’s Notes

This is book number 4! I can’t believe I have written over 80K words so far in this one story. It is amazing how the world has created itself. I started off with ideas and notes all jotted down. And once I started the story unraveled itself. I was supposed to kill off a few more people in this book, but for some reason those people wanted to stay a part of this world a little while longer. And I was originally going to do 4 books in this story and then move on to another main character while staying in this world. But B’Lana’s story has demanded a 5th book. There is even an Origins story that is running around in my head. It will start off being told from Lancer’s POV and it will tell the true prophecy about B’Lana as well as the truth behind the origins of the Sennafae and the rippers. There is so much there that past leaders did not want us to know so they took it out of the history books and burned any documents that spoke about the truth. I will most likely write that after book 5, as long as book 5 ends the way I expect it to at this moment.

And the love triangle has taken a very different turn as well. I originally planned for B’Lana and Lancer to get together after a small flirtation with Ash. I never intended for Ash to fall for B’Lana. But now Lancer is trying to put some distance between himself and B’Lana! Why? It all has to do with the origin story. Lancer will tell us what he has been thinking and why he is putting the distance there. But does that mean that Ash wins the girl? I don’t really know yet. Come on over to my Facebook page and let me know who you want B’Lana to choose.

Thank you all who have read my books, and especially thank you to those who have read the notes at the back of my books! I really appreciate it and I would love to hear what you think. Please leave reviews at Amazon when you are done reading so that others who look at my book will know what people think about it, and so that I will know as well. I do read all of the reviews on Amazon.

If you message me on FB, Twitter, or my website I will respond to you all. J

I won’t have an excerpt from Book 5 as I am still writing it. But if you join my blog I will post one there and it will go out to everyone who subscribes to my blog.

&n
bsp; Some of the bad guys:

Cove – Ripper who works in the men’s clothing store, he called Merv to the mall after meeting B’Lana.

Ripper Master – He was in charge of the rippers in the LA area. He held B’Lana captive in the sewers.

Hybrid Rippers – a human who has been transformed into a ripper, or vampire. Also known as a Nosferatu. They have very limited brain functions. Blood and killing is all they think about.

On Sendryl they look like a hung-over version of the Sennafae with bags under their red eyes. On Earth they develop the vampire look, they have bright red eyes with dark red spider web veins around their eyes.

Sendryl – The home planet of both Sennafae and Ripper. It is another dimension from Earth. There are portals all over Earth that lead to various places on Sendryl. There is also one known portal on Sendryl that leads to another world, but it has been determined that it is too dangerous to go there so that portal is closed.
