Stop it, Jane. They're gone and they're never coming back. You have to let go. Let them go.
I sighed a long sappy sigh and closed my eyes. I saw this once in a movie. I wanted to start over. Start fresh so I had to give back to the world what it had given to me.
Holding my hands out to my sides, I took a deep breath and as I pushed it out imagined all the hope and love I had for the guys were being blown out of me. I would leave them here with all my happy memories of them. I would go back into the world as a new woman. Reborn. A soft and new as baby's bottom.
Okay, even I knew that was going a bit far.
But all the same. I was done. They were gone. Time to call Andre and move on.
Relaxing, I dropped my hands and opened my eyes. Time to go.
Turning around, I jerked back. My hand going to my chest and my eyes widening. Standing in front of me, after I did all that cleansing and starting over crap were the three pains in the ass angels I'd been trying to get over.
I put my hands on my hips with a scowl. "Where have you been?"
Michael, Gabriel, and Lucifer stood there as glorious and deliciously edible as ever with equally contrite expressions on their faces. Okay, so Lucifer wasn't contrite. He was more amused than anything.
"Sorry, we're late." Gabriel moved closer to me first. "We had to see an all-powerful being about a girl."
"We did not expect it to take so long," Michael added as he followed after Gabriel.
Lucifer shook his head and laughed. "I knew it would. Father is stubborn and wanted to make us work for it." He too circled in around me.
I stared at them in wonder. Wondering how they came back, why they were here now, and if they would leave again. I couldn't do it. I couldn't do it anymore.
"You're too late.” I smiled sadly at them. “It's over. We're over. I've moved on."
"Oh?" Michael glanced at the other two, and they exchanged a peculiar look. "Are you now?" He reached out, and I waited for the usual buzzing to start but all I felt was the warmth of his hand on my face.
"What?” I gaped. “You're touching me. How are you touching me?" I grinned and laughed, tears leaking out before I could catch them. I placed my hand on top of his to make sure I wasn't dreaming it. Nope, he was there.
"Now, don't give him all the credit." Lucifer placed his hand on my waist and pulled me toward him. "He's not the only one with a brand new corporeal form, and it has missed you terribly." He wagged his brows at me, making me giggle.
I hugged him close and then kissed him desperately. Pulling away, I looked to Gabriel who had been watching with a small smile on his face. "Are you corporeal now too?"
Gabriel nodded.
"Then what are you waiting for? Come here." I jumped from Lucifer to Gabriel, and wrapped my arms around him tightly, afraid that if I let him go, he'd be gone.
After I'd gotten over the fact that they were here and touchable without my blood, I asked them, "How'd this happen? You are here to stay right?"
Michael embraced me and pressed his mouth to my forehead. "God works in mysterious ways. We are here to keep you safe for as long as you need us."
"Well, then.” I chuckled at his explanation. “I think I'll need you for the next sixty or seventy years. I hope you're ready, because I won't be holding back."
The guys surrounding me on all sides peered back at me with equally affectionate looks of love. Just like that, my life had been turned upside down once again by three totally hot and hard to handle angels.
And I couldn’t be happier.
