Summer Storms Page 10

by Amy Clipston

She went back into the house, pushing Judah out of her mind and thinking about Sarah’s reaction to Rhett’s coming. Her sister had always had a fleeting attention span, and Esther wasn’t all that surprised that Sarah was excited about their impending company. But Sarah seemed a little too excited. And what about Judah? How could she consider showing interest in Rhett while Judah was here? How could Sarah even think about hurting him that way?

Esther paused in the kitchen doorway, wondering if she should talk to Sarah about it. Or maybe mention something to Mamm. Then again, maybe she was overreacting. Besides, Sarah wouldn’t have to do much to gain Rhett’s attention. If anything, Esther would probably have to keep her eye on him, not her sister. She blew out a breath. July was going to be an interesting month, to say the least.
