At her questioning glance Ebony explained, “That necklace is the control for the golems. More than that, it has locked itself on your bloodline. Only you, or your future children will be able to use it. Still, if it gets stolen this room would be worthless for you, just as much as it would be for the thief. So, don’t lose it. Also, he said to make sure you only use them in defense. There are… safeguards. He likes you and Nysten, but he won’t allow you to become conquerors either. At least, not with the help he left behind.
“The necklace will also allow you to find the other magical items in here, and is also the key for this room. He’s hoping you never have to use it, but in an emergency…” Ebony trailed off.
She was overwhelmed, she also knew she couldn’t tell anyone about this, especially not her council.
“Did you want to get some tea? I have a feeling we’re going to be good friends.”
Ebony looked surprised for a moment, but then she nodded, “That sounds great.”
I wasn’t really sure at all, what was going to happen next, on either plane.
I had my sister, who seemed willing to sing for Lila and me whenever we asked, and also gave us a crash course on immortal politics and the realities of our realm.
I also had quite a complicated life on the mortal plane, and a dungeon imp who was my mate, the mother of my beautiful daughter, and was apparently taking the noble world by storm. They all seemed to adore her, which honestly didn’t surprise me in the least, especially when she had our newborn in tow. Life was complicated, but it was also very good. I guessed as long as I kept both Lila and Ebony happy, it would stay that way…
Afterword:
I hope you enjoyed the story. This was the third and final book in the Dark Dungeon series. I tried to go for a mixture of HEA and life goes on at the end, hope it was satisfying.
