  Adam

I’ve been dreaming about her ever since she got her first curves, and as the years have gone by, my fantasies about her have only gotten worse. Every night before I go to sleep, I shut my eyes and imagine what it would be like to push myself deep inside her. And as I do that, I yearn for the day she’ll let me make her come.

  Because she will.

  Willow

Adam brushes his finger against mine as he takes back the phone, and while he and dad finish their conversation, I get in Adam’s car. Sitting here, I take the opportunity to freshen up my lipgloss before Adam joins me.

The whole truck oozes of him. It smells like vanilla or maybe it’s sandalwood? I don’t know. Whatever it is, it’s intoxicating. My head is spinning and I want to be wrapped up in his arms and have him rub his scent all over me.

  About Forever Mine

Now that she’s grown, her father too has decided to move out of town, and she needs to find a job and a place to live faster than you can say Jack Robinson.   Adam is obsessed with his best friend’s daughter Willow, and cannot wait to dig his teeth into her. He’s been trying to find a way to get close to her, and when he comes up with the brilliant idea of hiring a secretary for his building construction company, guess who he’s about to call?

  Prologue

  Prologue

  ADAM

WORKING OUT AT the gym with my best friend Steven, like we always do on Monday nights, I can tell he’s got something on his mind. He’s been acting distant all night, and is avoiding eye contact. Where I’m standing on the treadmill about to start a final 5K run to finish this session off, I wonder what’s bothering the guy. There’s not something wrong with her, is there?

The moment I think about her, my heart skips a beat. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before, and she’s real special to me. I wonder what Steven would say if he knew about it, but I guess he’ll just never know. Unless I can find a way to make him accept what I’ve been struggling myself to accept these past couple of years.

My hunger for his daughter, Willow…

I know that it looks bad to want someone that much younger than you, and to top it off your best friend’s daughter, but I can’t help it. I do want her, and there’s nothing I can do about it. Not that I want to do anything about it either. I love the way I feel about Willow. And I definitely like having these secret feelings for her. It’s kind of enticing in some weird way.

“You about ready, buddy?” Steven hollers behind me, and as I turn around to look at him I see him standing there looking beat. He’s got his towel hanging over his shoulder, and his face is dark. Damn. Something must really be going on. But what?

“Yeah,” I say, and wipe off the treadmill. I have got to find out what’s the matter with him. Something’s wrong, I can tell. I can do the 5K tomorrow morning instead.

Heading to the locker room, I decide to confront him.

“Hey dude, what’s the matter with you? You’ve been acting funny all night.”

Sighing deeply, Steven furrows his brow and looks down at the ground. “It’s that obvious is it?”

  “Uh-huh.”

“Look,” he says, and finally makes eye contact. “I’ve done something.”

  Figured as much.

“I’ve done something and I need to talk to both Willow and you about it, but I don’t want to upset either of you.”

Willow? He’s done something that affects Willow and me?

“What is it buddy? You know you can trust me.”

“Well, thing is… I’ve found a new job.”

“Wow, that’s great man,” I tell him and pat him on the shoulder.

“Yeah, I know, and I’m excited about it because it would almost double my yearly income.”

For some reason I suspect there’s something else about this new job that he’s not telling me. Something about his manners tells me there’s a downside to it.

“But…?” I ask, and take a sip of water.

  “But it’s in Alaska.”

“Alaska?” I blurt out. He’s got to be kidding me.

“Yeah, and it’s a great opportunity, but it would mean that I need to sell the house and leave Willow behind and – ”

“Willow’s an adult. I’m sure she can figure things out.” And If she doesn’t, I’ll help her out.

“Yeah, but you know, I feel bad about ditching her like this.”

“Don’t worry buddy. I’ll still be here, won’t I? I’ll keep an eye on her,” I say, and take another sip of water.
/>   I mean it. I can look after her. I’ll be glad to.

She’s the woman of my dreams, and I like the idea of taking care of her every need. I want to do that. It’s the chance of a lifetime.

  Prologue

  WILLOW

I CAN’T BELIEVE this is happening. Did dad just tell me he too is leaving me? This is like when mom moved away all over again. I was devastated back then, and though I was a kid then and am an adult now, I can’t help but have all those feelings of abandonment come back to me.

“I’m so sorry Willow,” dad says where we’re standing in the kitchen. “But you know, you are an adult now, and besides, I talked to Adam and he promised to be there for you if you needed anything.

  “You talked to Adam?”

  Why did he do that?

“Yes, and he promised he’d take care of you on my behalf.”

“Huh,” I mutter, trying to come off as though I don’t really care. Truth is, I care. I care a lot. About Adam that is. He’s… Very special to me…

“Yeah, so – ” dad begins to say, but I interrupt him.

“What about the house? Are you selling it?”

Looking at dad, I see his face is getting pale.

“You’re selling it,” I say, turning around to face the kitchen sink. I can’t believe this. How can he do this to me? Now I’ve gotta not only find a job to pay rent on my own, but I’ve gotta find a place to live as well? “This sucks, dad. This really sucks.”

“I’m sorry honey,” he says, and walks up behind me. Placing his hands on my shoulders, he says, “I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t have to. But I promise I’ll make it up to you.”

“Make it up how?” I blurt out and walk away from him. This is ridiculous. I’m mortified and fuming with anger all at once. It feels like I’m being betrayed. This is mom all over again.

“Listen Willow,” dad says, and I turn around to look at him.

  “What?”

“Please, I’m really sorry to have to do this to you like this.”

  “Whatever.”

“No, I really am.” Sighing, he looks down at the ground for a couple of moments, like he’s trying to figure out what to say next. “If it helps, I asked Adam if he might be able to hook you up with a job.”

“You did?” How many times can he go behind my back like this in one day?

“Yeah, and he said he might have something for you. But he wants you to call him first and talk to him.”

“Well, I don’t know about that. I’ll have to think about this for a while. This is all just… Too much to handle all at once.”

“Okay, honey,” dad says, and looks sad.

“I’ve gotta go,” I say, hating to upset him, but at the same time it feels like he deserves it just a little bit. Because I already know the answer to this suggestion of his. I’d love working for Adam.

It would be absolutely fabulous. I’m sure of it.

  Chapter 1

  ADAM

DRIVING ALONG THE street leading to the office, my eyes go straight to her.

  There she is.

Willow. Dressed in all white, she looks like an angel. And she is. She’s the most perfect human being to ever walk this Earth.

  The woman of my dreams.

  The reason I breathe.

  My everything.

  But she doesn’t know that.

  Yet.

Once I get my hands on her, she’ll never even look at another man again.

I know she’s supposed to be off limits, but I can’t keep my thoughts about her at bay.

  I want her.

  Desire her.

  Need her.

Every time I see her I have to force myself to hold back and not just throw her ass on the ground, pull out my erection and make love to her. Just like right now. I swear to God, every single moment that I get to spend with her, I keep thinking about all the things I want to do to her.

Pulling up, I keep watching her. She’s fidgeting with her phone, completely unaware that I’m watching her. Or maybe I’m wrong. Maybe she’s totally aware.

Sometimes I get the feeling that she’s teasing me. Just look at her. Look at that skimpy outfit. Who wears a skirt that high and a top cut that low to work?

Willow does. Of course Willow does. I bet it’s just a clever ruse to try and snare me. But she has no clue that I already know about her little crush on me. And I bet she has no idea how hot and sexy, and absolutely breathtakingly beautiful she is. Least of all, she has no notion of the fact that I want her.

  Desperately.

In fact, I’m aching to make her mine.

Watching her through the windshield makes me twinge with desire.

  Damn how I want her.

I have to make her mine.

  She will be.

  Soon.

  Chapter 2

  Willow

I’M SO NERVOUS yet excited about going to work. But I’m also tired. Very, very tired. Couldn’t get a wink of sleep last night, so I don’t feel as perky as I would have wanted to be on this day. But it’s not like I can call in sick or anything. Wouldn’t want to disappoint the new boss and risk ending up getting fired on the first day, and lose the opportunity to be close to the man of my dreams. The man I’ve been gushing over ever since I was old enough to have crushes. Except, this is not a crush.

  It’s way worse than that.

  I think it’s love.

But beside all that, there are plenty of other reasons why I can’t risk losing this job. Lord knows I’m going to need it if I’m going to survive.

Waiting for Adam to show up, I reach into my purse. When I check my cell phone, I see a message from mom. It says:

Good luck today sweetie. Be good. I know your father wants what’s best for you and I can’t really blame him for doing the same thing to you that I did when you were just a kid. Love you. Always.

  Mom.

Sighing, I smile while typing her my response:

Thanks. Let you know how my first day went come Sunday. Love you too. W.

Talking on the phone Sundays is our ritual. Ever since she moved out to California for her job after having divorced my dad, it’s been our way of communicating. Every single Sunday since I was about eight years old, that’s been how mom and I have kept in touch. She and dad decided that it was best for me to just stick around here with him and not have to change schools and all that. Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn’t have been better if I’d have moved away with her to California. But then again, I never would have been able to get to know Adam if I had.

A car door slams shut, and when I pull my eyes off the phone, they go straight to him.

  The man I want.

  My dad’s best friend.

  Adam.

”Hey Adam,” I tell him, and put my phone into my purse. Straightening my skirt, I wish I would have taken the time to straighten my curls this morning. But I was in such a hurry that I just had to let my hair dry naturally after washing it.

”Good morning,” he grunts, reaching into his jeans. God he looks sexy. His steel blue eyes match his jet black hair perfectly, and those perfectly sculpted arms look so damn good when they’re all tanned from the summer sun like this. He doesn’t smile, he doesn’t have to. People have always said that he’s such a dour and serious guy and that he’s always in a bad mood, but I know better. That’s just because they misinterpret him. And they don’t know him like I do. He’s a cool guy deep down, and he’s always been gentle with me. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve felt comfortable around him.

”You ready for this?” he asks, while holding the door open for me.

  Beyond read
y, actually, I think to myself, but I don’t tell him that. I’m ready to have him push me up against the wall, kiss me, and just take me right here right now in the middle of broad daylight. That’s what I’m ready for.

  It’s what I’m yearning for.

It’s what I’ve been saving myself for.

”Totally,” I say as we slip inside the office.

  ”Good.”

His husky voice makes me shiver. It’s so warm and comforting, and not at all intimidating like most people seem to interpret it. To think that I’ll get to come to the office and listen to it every single day from now on is like a dream come true.

He shows me to my desk and since we’ve already gone over the details of my job description, there’s no need for us to talk right now. I can get straight to work.

”Just let me know if…” he says, stopping mid-sentence. ”If you need anything.”

  ”Sure.”

”I mean it,” he says sternly. ”Anything you need, you call me.”

  ”Okay… I will.”

”Good. Cause I’ll be heading over to the construction site for a while now, but I’m always available on the phone.” His pink lips look so plump and delicious from where I’m standing by the desk, that I wonder how he would react if I were to stand on my toes and kiss him. Looking into his eyes like this makes me feel so tiny and fragile, and I wonder if it’s written all over my face how I feel about him.
