Pretty Kings II Page 19

Mitch walked to the door and opened it. When he saw Bambi he was pleased and nervous at the same time. What was she doing at his home? To her right was Race and behind her were Scarlett and Denim. The sun stood behind them and bounced off of their bodies, turning their shapes into sexy silhouettes. They all wore tight jeans with bikini tops. Bambi’s was camouflage.

“Bambi,” he smiled weakly. “What’s going on?” he looked at the other Pretty Kings. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”

“I’m sorry but maybe you’ll forgive me. Besides we come bearing gifts,” Bambi said. “Something we’re sure you’re going to like.”

Bambi turned around and two Mexican locals brought in a beautiful wooden table. They sat it in the middle of the floor. Bambi tipped the men.

“Gracias,” one of the men said.

  “De nada.”

After Bambi tipped the two men and they exited Mitch said, “Where are my manners?” he opened the door wider. “Come inside, ladies.”

He was trying to be pleasant, to imply that he had control over the moment. But truthfully he had no idea what was happening and he felt helpless, which was so unlike him.

Bambi sat on the recliner and Mitch took a seat on the couch in front of her. The other Pretty Kings remained standing behind Bambi.

Mitch looked over at the handcrafted table that resembled a box. It was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen.

“Where did you find it?” he asked trying to conduct small talk.

  “It’s custom-made. Just for you.”

He swallowed. “But what are you doing here?”

Very calmly she said, “I’m here to save your life.” She crossed her legs. “And you can thank me later.”

He stood up and walked toward the bar. He poured himself a glass of whiskey. “I’m done with the hospitality. You have my address but it doesn’t mean you have an open invitation to come here any time you’d like. Now be clearer! I’m a very busy man.” he swallowed all of the whiskey and slammed the glass down on the bar. “What are you doing here?” He poured himself another drink.

“I’ll get to that. Let me first give you the status of your affairs here in beautiful Mexico. I had your armed guards held up at the gate leading into your property. I guess they aren’t used to things happening to you so they didn’t see us coming. Don’t worry though. We’re much smarter than they are.”

He appeared embarrassed at the lack of professionalism of his soldiers. “I’m a very busy man, Bambi.” He turned around and faced them. “And I want to know the point of your visit now.”

Bambi stood up and moved toward him. When she was in his breathing space she eased the drink out of his hand and took a sip. “I never took you as rude.” She drank the rest of it. “As much money as I made you and you didn’t even offer me a drink.” She winked. “We have reason to believe that the Russians are in Mexico right now looking for you.”

  “And?”

“And unless you want you and your family to be bound, gagged and raped, like their track record has proven are their methods, you’re coming with me. Today. Right now.”

His eyes widened. “Linda,” he called out into the house for his wife. “Linda, where are you?”

“She’s not here,” Bambi said calmly. “She’s already away to safety.”

Mitch was beyond angry. When he was dealing with the Kennedy Kings he never had this problem. He was the connect and nobody ever found out about his whereabouts. And now there he was trying to defend himself.

“We have to move now,” Race said looking out of the window. “They are about fifteen minutes from your house.”

“And, unfortunately, we can’t let anyone see you leave,” Bambi added.

“And how do you plan on getting me out of here safely?”

Bambi turned around and looked at Denim who opened the lid on the table. “You’re getting inside of there. Now.”
