Falling for Shifters: A Limited Edition Autumn Shifters Collection Page 25

by Lacey Carter Andersen

Holy fucks, this man was killing me.

“For with one look, one touch, one smile, we shared our hearts that day…” Zach’s words fanned the most sensitive part of me, and he kissed it as deeply as he had done my lips, savoring it like it was a forbidden treat.

Leaving me gasping for air, we spun on the bed yet again, like two wild wolves rolling around on the earth, nuzzling, licking, and connecting with each other before becoming one.

“And now I'm here with you, your hand in mine one Thursday afternoon.”

His touch eagerly roamed my breasts, massaging them while he pressed his body to mine from behind. His other hand slipped between my legs while he kissed my neck hungrily and I was lost to him in a way I could have never imagined.

I melted away with every kiss, every passionate caress, fully surrendering to him as he truly imprinted on me. I didn’t know anything about making love, but I couldn’t imagine anything being more intense than the way I felt with him in this moment.

Zach turned us again, holding me in a whole new way, and grinding his body against mine so sensually that my eyes rolled back from the sheer pleasure. He wasn’t even inside me yet and I had lost all reason. He paused to look into my eyes, but I gripped him by the neck and pulled him to me, anxiously kissing him.

A smile brushed my lips, he was enjoying me like this.

The ravenous thirst and quiet desperation he had shown calmed somewhat—no, it didn’t calm, it evolved, transforming into a perfect mixture of lust, passion, love, and tenderness.

“We did it, my love. We made it,” he whispered the last verse in my ear, fingers slipping into my hair and tugging my head back slowly so I would look into his wolfish eyes. “I found my way back to you…”

“You are mine,” I declared, admiring the man my heart had treasured silently for so long. The one I’d always loved.

“You are mine,” he vowed, shifting me until my back pressed against his chest. His hand roamed the side of my breast, following the dip of my waist and the rise of my hip while he nibbled at my earlobe.

Zach’s scruffy breathing in my ear made the little hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, and his hand continued its way down until he parted my thighs from behind. I pressed closer to him, maddeningly wanting to feel him until his hardened length brushed my sensitive skin. He thrust into me the next instant, leaving me breathless.

His arm wrapped around the front of my body, settling between my breasts, and a hand cradled my neck while he rocked into me deeply. I held onto him, letting every sensation overwhelm me and make me feel alive. Between kisses, ragged breathing, and moans we fell apart and came together over and over through the night.

There was no one in this world who would ever be able to love me like Zach did, and I planned to love him even more.

  Epilogue

My gaze roamed over the large park that connected all pack homes, hearing the laughter and joyful music that flowed through the air with the celebration. It had been four years since Zach found me again, saved me, and claimed me as his. Regardless of how difficult it had all been for everyone involved, I was glad it had brought me here, to my true home.

“I brought you a chocolate cupcake, Alpha,” Jules, one of the Betas from the pack placed the treat before me on the picnic table.

“Thank you so much.” I smiled at him, patting his arm while my mate got off his red truck and began to make his way to us.

“Alpha, I thought you would want some lemonade. Freshly squeezed by my Laurie.”

“That is so sweet, Mark. Tell Laurie, I love lemonade. I’m going to enjoy it.”

“Here is your burger, Alpha, with ketchup and mustard, just like you like it.” I chuckled at Charlie; he was even more adorable now than when I met him in the vet’s office. And handsome too. “You know you can call me Aria.”

He shook his head adamantly. “Not right now. Right now, you are our Alpha.”

Violet snickered, sitting next to me at the table and gently caressed my swollen belly. “Looking totally gorgeous, girl. How do you feel?”

“Like I have a full pack of wolves in my belly,” I made a face as the people around us laughed. I was only five months pregnant, but still.

“Hey, at least while you are expecting, every member of the pack is helpless but to fawn all over you,” Violet added just as George arrived with two burgers, one for her and one for him.

They had fallen for each other when Violet helped him heal after the battle to save my life. They mated a year after Zach and I did, and they were totes adorbs together, like she would say.

“True,” I replied, smiling at the irony. As it turned out, when the mate of the Alpha was pregnant, she became the leader and all “power” was automatically assumed by her. The first mission of the clan was to keep her and the puppies safe, make sure she had everything she needed, and of course, follow her every command.

I may or may not be enjoying this a bit too much.

“Who would have thought, the last thing I ever wanted was to get married to a hillbilly and dream about having his babies,” I said loud enough for Zach to hear when he finally reached the table. “And here I am,” I teased, lazily rubbing my bump.

“Hey, I’m not a hillbilly,” he complained, coming to kiss my belly.

“I mean, you do live on a hill,” Violet pointed out and everyone laughed. “I’m just saying.”

I chuckled too, taking the first bite of my yummy burger.

“To be fair, you are going to veterinary school already. And you are totes getting your degree ahead of time because you already know all that crap,” Violet added. “So it’s okay if you got knocked up by your baby daddy and all,” she joked. “You are rocking it as the vet in town.”

Rolling my eyes, I took a sip of the lemonade. “I’m not the only vet in town, I might have bought half the clinic from Dr. Roberts, but we are partners now. I run the clinic while he gets to spend more time with his grandchildren.”

“Same difference,” Zach added, sitting next to me. “And please don’t call me baby daddy. We are not only mated but married too, so show some respect.”

Violet grinned mischievously at her brother. She loved messing with him.

“Can I get a kiss, Pretty Boy?”

“Anything my Alpha wants, wait, actually no. I have to pee.”

“You suck!” I complained, while he chuckled. “How was everything in town?” I yelled after him, looking over my shoulder while he walked into the house.

“Miss Baker is keeping everything in order as usual. She’ll be here soon, she just wanted to stop by the market before driving back.”

I grinned, Isabella was the pack’s eyes and ears in town, making sure everyone was safe, and no one suspected a thing.

“I’ll be right back,” I informed Violet and her mate, holding Charlie's hand to silently ask him to come with me.

  “You need something, Alpha?”

“I was hoping you could help me carry the cake out. But I’d like to rest for a bit inside the house before we sing happy birthday to Violet.”

  “Definitely. I can do that.”

Walking into the kitchen, I went straight to the refrigerator and opened it wide for him to pull out the humongous cake I had made her. “Wait a second, I have something for you.” Pulling open the cabinet, I took out a container with a bow and handed it to him. “All yours, but don’t tell anybody because then they complain that you are my favorite.”

His lips stretched into a full smile while he bit into a piece of my all-natural beef jerky. “I am your favorite.”

“I know, but I don’t want them to complain about it.”

Chuckling, he slipped it into the pocket of his jacket and carried the cake outside.

“Pretty Boy, are you ready?” I yelled, walking out of the kitchen. “Geez, you are worse than a pregnant woman.”

Narrowing his eyes at me, he stopped before me and pulled me into his arms. “You love giving orders, don’t you?”
/>
I snorted. “You are the one who wanted me as your mate, so the joke is on you.”

His laughter tickled my lips when he kissed me. A real, knock your socks off, set your panties on fire kind of kiss—like the ones I loved so much.

“Mmm, that was worth the wait.”

“I know.” Zach cleaned invisible lint from his shoulder, and I smacked him.

“Stop it,” I chided, rubbing my belly again while he smirked. “Do you want to sit in the back with me for a bit?”

“Of course, my love.” Holding my hand, he guided me towards the back garden where we had a full view of the mountain and the city below.

A beautiful tree that looked like it had always been there, provided us with perfect shade, and we sat on the bench placed under it. It was planted in memory of Zach’s parents and my mom once the full body of his father was recovered, and he was finally laid to rest.

The sight of the area where my cabin was no longer brought me pain. The land had been vacant for about three years now after Jacob, James, and Jimmy were hospitalized in a special facility out of state, where they could be taken care of properly. Jeremy told everyone they had been attacked by several bears during a hunt, and then disappeared, never to be seen again.

I wasn’t a Clark anymore. I was a Wolf Shifter after mating with Zach and completing my transformation. However, being the only one left on the property deed, I decided to demolish the cabin and barn, selling the lands to the state not long after, to be part of the national park and hiking trails.

Not before bringing dear Betsy, my chickens, Mario, and the two baby red foxes to live up here with us, of course. They were all one big happy family now.

My head rested on Zach’s shoulder while we swung on the sliding bench. His strong arms held me to him, protecting me and giving me all the love that I needed. I couldn’t help but wonder how we had ever gotten so lucky. Even after everything that happened, everything we had been through, the stain of pain had washed away from our hearts, and I felt nothing but joy as I looked at the beautiful city that extended below us.

I finally loved my life, and I loved this place so much. I was never, ever leaving.

  The Howl 2

  The Howl

  Kat Parrish

  About The Howl 2

Simon Arvai, investigative reporter and reluctant werewolf has come to Africa in search of a story about government corruption and stumbled across something a lot sexier—a plot to take over a nature preserve to steal a fortune in rhino horn, one of the most valuable substances on earth.

Aline Winters is an actor-turned activist, and her untiring efforts to protect an endangered species has resulted in a minor miracle. She’s cloned a baby male white rhino, the first step to saving the species.

Dilek Kor is a Sudanese poacher extraordinaire who maintains a stranglehold on the rhino horn business and is willing to kill anyone who gets in his way. Dilek likes killing—it’s something hyenas do well.

When Simon and Aline and Dilek’s trajectories eventually converge, the result is an explosive battle that could well decide the fate of one of the most endangered species on the planet.

  Prologue

The hunt was in its third day and the American—who had paid three-quarters of a million dollars for the right to kill a black rhino, any black rhino, was beginning to suspect he might have been the victim of an elaborate, government-sanctioned scam. The ranger and the two government trackers he’d been assigned—to facilitate the h
unt—had assured him the animal with his name on it was out in the thorny bush…somewhere…and that his patience would be rewarded. They also reminded him that on page seven, paragraph three of his contract, there was a clause that specifically addressed his concern that he might fail in his attempt to kill his rhino, no matter how easy the government men made it for him.

Bottom line? If the rhino did not show, he was shit out of luck.

Patience was not Nelson King’s long suit. He’d been told the animal he was stalking was available for him because it was an old bull who posed a threat to the herd’s unity. But the animal they’d been tracking for three days wasn’t acting like an old bull. Not that he knew anything about rhino behavior beyond what he’d gleaned from the Wikipedia article he’d scanned on the flight from the States.

Nelson was getting impatient, and thought his guides were being overly cautious when they told him he needed to be wary, that big as they were, rhinos could move quietly when they wanted, and the thorny bush provided the perfect camouflage for them.

Nelson was an experienced hunter—he’d bagged his first Bighorn Sheep in Arizona when he was just ten and had treated himself to a safari as a college graduation present. He’d shot a beauty of a Cape Buffalo on that trip, then gone back the following year to hunt a leopard. He’d had the two-hundred-pound cat stuffed and put on display in the atrium of his company’s Houston office. Most of his employees considered it something of a mascot. Those who were creeped out about it complained to their spouses and kept their opinions to themselves at work.
