She stood. His eye took in the blonde thatch of hair covering her pussy. She walked to the water and dove in. A few seconds later, she resurfaced. She looked up. His heart tightened with love for her, but with shame for himself. She’d been crying, and he knew the cause of her pain. Her long, beautiful breaststrokes glided her through the pond with grace. Her head dove under and her tiny derriere broke the blue surface. The sight of her captivated him. Long moments of surveillance alerted him to her tiring efforts. If you are going to make your move, do it now. He dived into the water with a loud splash.

Rae Anne spun at the loud splash in the water. The rippling surface caught her attention. She scanned the water and saw nothing. Dismissing it for a falling rock or some other natural occurrence, she took a step, but something rubbed against her leg. She absently kicked at it, lost her balance and landed under the water. She came up, just as a hand took hold of her waist. She cleared the water coughing, sputtering, and kicking.

“Damn, babe. Don’t drown. It’s only me.”

  “Landy?”

“Yes.” He pulled her against his chest. “Did you expect someone else?”

His naked body against hers aroused desire. His semi-hard cock brushed against her back. “I’m expecting no one. You just scared the hell out of me.” Rae Anne slapped at his shoulder, which caused a spray of water to hit her face. “Damn it!”

  “What?”

“I got water in my eye.” Rae Anne blinked the irritated eye until the burning sensation stopped and she could focus. She turned to face him. “What are you doing here?” The anger she intended to give him cooled with the look of desire in his eyes. She trembled. So much for giving him a piece of my mind for scaring me.

“Are you cold?” Landy pulled her closer and wrapped his arms around her.

“No,” she whispered softly. “I’m not cold.” She maintained eye contact with him. If I look away, will you find reason to leave?

“You’re shaking.” He rubbed the goose bumps that dotted her skin. “Just like you did when we made love that first...”

“No, I’m trembling,” she corrected. Her gaze wandered to his lips. “Just like then.” She felt the warming sensation between her thighs run rampant through her, contracting that feminine muscle that oozed the evidence of her approval at his close proximity. She trembled again in his arms.

Unsure of his reaction, but willing to test her theory, she snaked her arms over his chest. His powerful pecs quivered under her touch. His eyes gave nothing away but his reaction to her touch said it all. He didn’t protest. His cock twitched against her stomach, and his gaze mirrored her inner thoughts. Feeling braver, she dared to roam her hands over his shoulders and down his arms. The bulge of muscles flexed as he adjusted her against him. Rae Anne loved the sensation of power she had suddenly acquired. Landy wasn’t fighting.

Receptive to her touch, he encouraged her without words. Curious at how far he’d let her go, she pushed the limits of their desire. She retraced her hands over the same plane of his body and then rested at the hairy patch of his chest, but she didn’t stop there. She explored his torso as skimming farther down, over his stomach, his waist, around his hips. Her eyes caught a glimmer in his. The dilation of his pupils caught her attention.

“I knew you weren’t made of stone,” she cooed. She touched the shaft of his rock hard cock with her fingertips. She encircled it with her hand. “Oh, I could be wrong.”

She dared to take a look at his cock. The broad head didn’t frighten her as it had when she was younger. The long shaft fit in her hand. Her thumbs barely grazed the tip, which invoked a guttural growl from deep in his chest.

“You shouldn’t play with fire, Rae Anne. You may get burned.”

His body said yes, but he continued to talk in riddles. His hand tangled in her hair. Her gaze penetrated his. “Playing with fire doesn’t scare me,” she whispered.

  “What does scare you?”

“Loving you.” The confession lifted a burdening weight off her shoulders. Now he knows.

Landy pulled her head back with a sharp tug of her hair. “Show me,” he demanded.

“I can’t!” She tried to pull away, but he tightened his grip.

  “Why can’t you?”

“I can’t give you my body without my heart going with it. And for that to happen, I need some kind of attachment. I know that much about me, and back in the day, you did too.”

  “Like I said, show me.”

His lips met hers, and then a deep, hungry, savage kiss ensued.

  * * * *

The world spun rapidly out of control. Unable to breathe, Landy broke the sensual kiss but years of deprived need surrounded them. He saw it written in her expression, felt it under his skin, and literally tasted it on her lips, and he wanted more.

His cock sprang to life. The shaft thickened in anticipation of being inside her. He pulled her closer. Rae Anne wrapped her arms around his neck and draped her legs around his waist, and he carried her to the grass. The lips of her pussy rested on the tip of his cock. You can’t spring into action and dive inside her on your own.

He set her down and then pulled a large bath sheet off the bush. He spread it over the grass, laid her on it, and joined her. He took her in, reacquainting himself with her body. Glorious in her making, her thin frame looked well toned,. I bet she swims a lot. . Her blonde hair looked like a chestnut, her full lips begged to be kissed again, and her fuller breasts invited him to lick her as the nipple and areola puckered under his close inspection.

He came closer, took one nipple into his mouth, and sucked softly. She jerked sensually closer to him, which allowed him to fill his mouth with her breast. She squirmed under him, and he settled himself above her and then ventured lower, glossing his lips over the tight abs of her stomach. Little stretch marks marred her, but no harm done. He tasted the fresh water that clung to her skin. He rose, settled between her legs, and opened them wider spreading the lips of her pussy to expose her more fully. The pit of his stomach quivered at the sight of her opened folds. Her breathing was suddenly erratic, and his eyes quickly found hers. Her face was blushed pink, her lips parted, and her eyes glistened with desire.

“Tell me what you want,” he challenged.

  “I want you.”

Her teeth scraped her lower lip. Her soft, whispered plea almost made him come.

“What do you want me to do?” He placed the heel of his hand onto her swelling cunt.

  “I want you…to stop teasing…me.”

He understood her broken pleas. “No, more teasing.” The game was over. With a long finger, Landy found the opening he desired. Tight and hot, it almost blew his mind with an early orgasm. She bent her knees, and her folds opened even more. With his finger, he delved deeper inside, then out again, and then in, repeatedly finger fucking her to her first orgasm. The small tremor soaked his finger with her honey sweetness.

Landy knelt lower, placed his hands under her hips and raised her cunt to meet his lips. He took the first taste of what he sought for the last month. The sweet, giving nature of her filled his mouth. He ate until she bucked and almost screamed. He sucked on the tiny bud until she sprayed his face with her pent-up release. Landy kissed his way up her body and then hovered above her lips. “No more waiting.” His tongue parted her lips and made the upper persuasion for his cock to make the lower invasion into the sacred world of intimacy. There was no turning back for either of them. They crossed the threshold of familiarity.

  * * * *

What prompted this change in Landy? Rae Anne didn’t care what turn of events brought Landy to her. The plan to make him wait and take her heart with her body fell apart the moment he explored her body with his eyes, which ignited the fire that was smoldering deep between her thighs. He implied that he would take her heart but hadn’t come out and said it. She didn’t hesitate to giving him free rein.

  Some fighter you are!

  It’s fate that we
re rejoined in this time and place.

He did wonderful things to her with his tongue and lips. She lay in fascination as he played his lovers’ games. Gradually, it wasn’t a game anymore. He filled her with his rock hard cock, and then somewhere in a secret place deep inside her heart that only he could touch, she gave in and floated on an endless ocean of desire and ecstasy while feeling no shame.

She watched in slow motion as his body thrust into hers. She waited in anticipation, hope, and longing to hear his vowed words of love which didn’t come. Each breathtaking thrust brought her closer to orgasm and left her delirious with satisfaction. If only for today, she faced giving him her body unafraid. However, his alleged death haunted her, spoiling her ecstasy. She didn’t want what she had today to be burned in the flames of a love long since lost. This is a new time. And that was a lifetime ago.

  I—no, we—deserve happiness.

  Chapter Thirty-Eight

Landy and Rae Anne lay on the bath sheet basking in the sun’s warmth. Naked and satisfied, Rae Anne refused to put her back to him. She kept him in her sight, felt his heartbeat above her own. Ten years ago, she had lain in his arms for the last time. The loneliness filled her again. She clung to him, hoping to banish the isolation creeping into her happiness.

“What’s wrong?” he asked with a strained voice.

“Nothing.” Was that a mistake to give into him so easily? How am I going to live my life without him? She felt the gentle touch of his hand cup her cheek. Her eyes darted to his.

“This is meant to be. Our making love isn’t a mistake.” He reassured her by pulling her closer.

“How did you do that?” she asked in total surprise.

  “What?”

“Read my mind.” She kneaded his bicep repeatedly, reassuring herself that he was lying with her and that fate wasn’t playing another cruel joke.

“You can’t hide your feelings too well.” He lightly kissed her forehead. “Besides, I always know what you’re thinking.”

She pulled away from him slightly. “Oh, yeah? What am I thinking now?”

“You want me to fuck you again.”

She refused to let the shock of his statement show on her face. “Rephrase that,” she said calmly.

He chuckled. “You want me to make love to you again.” He bent to her lips.

She parted them in surrender without making the stipulation she planned to enforce before they made love again. But the feeling of pure satisfaction is too strong, even for her lonely heart. His rough penetration brought her back to here and now. He filled her. Something should be said. She wouldn’t have peace until she made her feelings known. “Landy!”

“Trust me.” He bore deeper into her.

“I do, but I don’t want to get hurt again.”

Landy eased onto her. The anger that she expected to see in his eyes wasn’t there. Instead, she saw regret and sorrow. He kept his eyes locked with her for the hundredth time since their reunion.

“Rae Anne, I’ll never hurt you…again.”

Her eyes welled up with tears.

“It’s time I took some responsibility too. I should have claimed what was mine long ago, but I couldn’t.”

“I know how difficult it was for you to say that, but I need to know what you are saying. Do you love and trust me?” Say it. She prayed, almost willed him to say the words she long to hear.

“Yes, I trust you. And I–I–I won’t hurt you,” he stammered out finally.

Rae Anne felt like a fool for letting him close, but she couldn’t let him go. His gentle, rocking thrusts grew stronger, and she held onto him, hoping her love would be enough. But as they were lying together, satiated for the second time, deep down, she knew that love had to come from both sides to work.

  Chapter Thirty-Nine

The taste of happiness is so sweet. Rae Anne glided around in a stupor of happiness. I can’t believe the second chance Landy and I have to make this relationship work. Amazing as it is, she had fallen in love with the man Landy had become. Deep down, she knew the feeling was mutual. In sweetness came bitterness. She had an intense fear of failing, but she refused to acknowledge and voice those emotions. To do so would jinx it and cause her fragile relationship with him to fall apart. The show of love, trust, and devotion had to be conveyed in her compassion.

I hope you are strong enough for both of us, or can be less superstitious and say the words first.

Kip stuck his head into the hut. “Ladies.”

Gina and Rae Anne looked up from the reinforced walls they worked on.

“The storage shed is complete,” he announced. “If you’d like, I’m here to see you to the back of the hut.”

The day-to-day survival basics brought everyone closer. They learned to depend on one another, respect the other person’s opinions, and make the best of what they had to give. Everyone had a duty to solidify the permanent base camp. The hunting and fishing for meat became Landy’s and Kip’s jobs. On occasion, they took the dinghy and ventured a trip around the island for food. Gina and Rae Anne set up sturdier walls in the tent, giving the couple a room in which to sleep and provide extra privacy. Landy and Rae Anne still slept apart,, but the lodge gave them more room to move around. They took care of camp necessities: storing meats and fruits they picked, washing clothes when necessary, and cleaning the camp of debris from the tropical storms. Most of the time, they talked, laughed, planned, and prayed together.

“What kind of storage shed did you make?” Gina asked of Kip.

  “You’ll see.”

Rae Anne rounded the corner in time to see Landy shut the small door. He turned to her.

  “What do you think?”

He opened the door. She walked by and stuck her head inside. The generator and fuel sat side by side in the center. The tools from the yacht, the unused lanterns, and other odds-and-ends items lay in neat piles on the sandy floor.

  “I think it’s beautiful.”

Landy sighed by her ear. “I’m glad you approve.”

She looked at him, his chest puffing out with pride. His smiling face melted her heart. “You’re a very handy fellow….handy being the operative word.”

He grabbed her around the waist and pulled her close. “I’ll make you think handy,” he warned her softly.

  “Oh, but I do.”

“What have you women been doing today?”

“Come here and we’ll show you.” Rae Anne led him to the hut and let him enter before her. “We’ve been building walls.”

Landy took off his sunglasses and looked at the divider. He shook it, knocked on it with his knuckles, and tapped it with his foot. “Good job, ladies. That wall is sturdy, neat, and snug against the wall, the rafters and the sandy floor.”

“That’s something else we need to figure out,” Gina commented behind her.

“What’s that, honey?” Kip asked next to Landy.

  “A floor.”

Rae Anne thought about the issue a moment. “We can dry some palm leaves, or tie some bamboo poles together….”

“You may even try weaving some mats for now,” Landy suggested.

Both women stopped and looked at him, and then at one another.

“We could do that. Like a large, narrow mat to cover the sand,” Gina said, pointing the location to place it

“Weaving mats of leave strips or vines. We’ll start gathering the stuff tomorrow. Thanks for the idea, sweetie.” Rae Anne kissed him and then passed by him on her way out of the hut.

“Great job, Captain.” Gina whispered on her way out behind Rae Anne.

Kip and he followed the women out into the opened common area.

“We’ll grab a second basket to gather leaves when we gather fruit and berries tomorrow.”

“Sounds great,” Rae Anne said. “You know, we can start this evening. We can strip down the vines this evening. I know of some leaves and dried vines by the lagoon. Let’s take a look there.”

  “
Okay!”

“Landy, Kip, we’ll be at the lagoon if you need us. We want to get some vines and leaves to make the floor mats,” Rae Anne said while she and Gina took steps in the direction of the lagoon.

  * * * *

Landy and Kip said nothing as they watched the women head in the direction of the pond with two empty baskets. Once out of sight they looked at one another.

“So, who is to cook lunch?” Kip asked.

“I guess we’re on our own today.” Landy picked up a banana. “Would you like some fruit?”

Kip took the offered snack with no enthusiasm. “At least we have some leftover bread and peanut butter to eat.”

“Now you’re talking.” The two men made do with the small lunch.

  * * * *

Relaxing in the camp at the end of the day turned out to be Rae Anne’s favorite time. She and Gina worked on the two baskets of vines they’d brought back from the lagoon. After braiding green vines together, they tied small strings of dead ones to secure them. After three hours of labor, eight mats of the desired six-foot length lay in a pile. “Now, to make it eight feet wide,” Rae Anne said, voicing her thoughts aloud.

Tying and knotting more vine for another two hours, a room-sized mat stretched out on the table.

“Hey, guys,” Gina called to the men who had settled for a long game of chess. They looked up.

“What do you think?” Rae Anne asked over the top of the matted vines.

“You did that in one night?” Kip asked.

“Yes, when two people work on something, things get done faster.”

“It looks great. Will you be able to make one for our rooms?”
