“And ya bring an equal amount of light into her life, which is why yer gonna be just fine. Hell doesn’t stand a chance with the pair of ya. In fact, I feel sorry for Lucifer.” MacTavish grinned. “Well, just a wee bit.”
He raised his whisky glass. “Slàinte mhath, Denver.”
Beck raised his glass as well. “Slàinte mhath, Trevor.”
*~*~*
The Gastro-Fiend was secured in the wire-mesh bag, howling like a badly tuned bagpipe. Kurt high-fived Richard, and there were smiles all around. Now that Kurt had reconciled with his girlfriend, the only demons they trapped were the real ones.
Behind them, cheers erupted as the Peach Drop signaled the start of 2019, only a few hours after Beck had celebrated his own new year. Riley had timed her announcement just perfectly and was still smiling that she’d pulled it off.
“Good job, guys,” she said, pleased. These two were going to be kickass trappers. All they needed was polishing. Once Jaye rejoined them, it’d be even better.
“Thank you, Master Blackthorne,” Kurt said, grinning.
She took a bow. “Happy New Year. How’s about we ditch this noisy thing with Fireman Jack and go find ourselves some pizza. It’s on me.”
The two of them hooted and headed for the car, Richard dragging the furious demon behind him.
Riley looked up at the stars, imagining them in the night sky over Scotland. Over the man she would be marrying in the spring.
“Happy New Year, Den. I love you.”
Then she headed after her apprentices, because there was a smelly demon to sell, yummy pizza to eat, and a life full of love to celebrate.
The End

Riley and Beck’s stories don’t come to fruition without assistance from other people. So here’s where I mention those folks who’ve helped me make this book a reality.
First, a shout-out to Kathryn Fernquist Hinds, who served as developmental editor for this manuscript. Kathryn is like having a super hero(ine) in your corner who always pulls you out of trouble right before the big explosion. Thank you for helping me make this story the best it can be.
My copyeditor for the final manuscript was Mollie Traver (www.mollietraver.com), who was tasked with finding all those evil typos (no doubt put there by some sort of fiend). Mollie has a long history with the Demon Trappers: She served as my assistant editor at St. Martin’s Griffin.
Where editors are the soul of a novel, a talented cover artist is the heart. Clarissa from Yocla Designs (www.yocladesigns.com) took my vision and turned it into reality. A special thanks to Macmillan Children’s Books (London) for allowing me to use the gorgeous angel/demon graphic. The final result is a cover that is not only beautiful, but evocative.
My gratitude to my spouse, who typeset the print edition and did all the arcane formatting needed for the electronic versions. It’s never a matter of just “pushing a button.”
And finally, thank you to all my readers across the globe. Your e-mails asking “What happens next?” is what led to this book. It’s always astounding when my characters take on a life of their own, but that’s the case with these two. Hopefully Riley & Beck have even more stories to whisper in my ear down the line.
