“I saw Kevin kissing a white woman…and he doesn’t even like white women.”
“Kevin? Drake’s brother?”
“Who else would I be talking about?”
“We’ve been texting each other for over two months and you’ve never mentioned the name of the man who’d stolen your heart all those years ago…this is unbelievable.”
“I don’t see why it’s such a big deal.”
“Wake up, Yasmine! Don’t you see what is going on here?”
“No, but I bet you will enlighten me, right?”
“These crazy feelings I have for Drake’s wife, the same ones you have for Drake’s brother are too close for comfort. I believe fate is trying to tell us something.”
“What? That Drake is our problem? Everything seems to revolve around Drake these days.”
“No, Yasmine. Drake has nothing to do with this one. It’s about us.”
“Us? What are you saying?”
“I’m saying, I think it’s time that we stop focusing on our past and start looking toward the future. We don’t need Sasha or Kevin to make us happy. I’m willing, if you’re willing.”
Yasmine dried her tears, as she entered the back seat of the car that had brought her to Ridgeland House. What was Levi really asking her to do? To forget Kevin and jump into the unchartered waters of a new relationship? Yasmine wasn’t sure if she was ready for that.
“If and when I do decide to move on,” she typed, “you will be my first choice. And that’s a big IF.”
“I can live with that, because you would be my first choice too.”
Those words caused Yasmine’s lips to twitch into a smile, as she imagined what it would be like to settle down with a dark, hunky specimen like Levi. Suddenly, Yasmine could see a silver lining, peaking through her gloomy existence.
