He finally looked at me. His face was convicted of failure, and when that second bright flash of light – that I was waiting for – illuminated the sky for about 1 ½ - 2 seconds, the frustrated look on his face turned into a blank stare.
I turned around to get a look at what made him do that. I didn’t see anything but darkness. Then, the sound of a large animal howled through the darkness not far from us, maybe just beyond Sworn’s company. A second howl came from another direction, and then the inward-made war cries of the Trackers erupted around us.
About the author:
Anwar was born in New York City, traveled state-to-state as the son of a vet, and now resides in Virginia. In between working from home and visiting the public library as much as possible, writing young adult urban fantasy and other short stories is pure enjoyment.
