  “It’s a boy!” Alexander said.

Raven dropped back and Valentina and Zephyr grinned. “We’ve got a boy!” They both cheered. The doctor put the baby on Raven’s belly. He was covered in goo, but he was yelling and shaking all over.

“He’s so beautiful, look at him!”

Zephyr moved aside and Alexander kissed his wife. He had the honor of cutting the umbilical cord. “I’ve never loved anyone more than I do now,” Alexander said.

Valentina and Zephyr both backed away from the family. They understood the need for privacy. Witnessing such happiness up close was very sobering for them both. The girls walked out. Their men looked up at them with questioning eyes.

“Did she have the baby?” Margene asked with a shaky voice. “Is my Raven okay?”

“You have a grandson.” Zephyr nodded. “They are both doing great. Go see.”

Margene hurried inside. Zephyr walked over to José and extended her hand. He looked at it and then accepted it. She walked him away from Valentina and Mattel. Locating a room that looked unoccupied she pushed the door open and pulled him inside.

“What is it?” he asked with concern.

Zephyr grabbed his face and kissed him in the dark. The initial reaction she received from him was hesitance. But it was fleeting. He wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her up against him. Their lips parted and she looked up at him with earnest. “I love you, José Batista, only you. I want to try again. I want to be with you.”

He squeezed her to him and she laughed.

“You won’t be sorry, baby. I promise you,” he said.

“That must have been intense.” Mattel said. He touched Valentina’s knee. She sat next to him.

  “I’m late.” She blurted out.

  “For what?” he asked.

  “My period. It’s late, Matt.”

Mattel’s eyes stretched so wide they looked as if they’d roll from their sockets. “How late?” he asked.

“Late enough to be concerned.” Valentina’s eyes begin to tear. “We might be having a baby. Is that good news?”

Mattel laughed. He grabbed her face and kissed her. “It’s the best news, Valerie!”

Valentina hugged him. “Shit, I’m really going to have to give up my weed now.”

Mattel frowned. “I thought you already did.”

  Valentina giggled. “Ooops.”

  “The baby is beautiful.”

“Where is he? I want him,” Raven said. The doctor was stitching her up. She hurt so bad she barely felt the needle.

“They’re running tests. I’m going to go check. I told you it would be a boy,” Alexander boasted.

  “Are you happy?” Raven smiled.

“I don’t think happy is the word to describe what I feel. I knew the first day I met you that you were going to be the mother of my children.”.

  “Children?” Raven frowned.

Alexander winked. “We’ll talk about that later.”

“Wait, what do you mean children?” She grabbed his wrists. “Did you not see how hard that was?”

Alexander kissed her silent. Raven touched his face.

“Let me go see about our son,” Alexander whispered.

“Can you send the girls back, please?”

He nodded that he would. Margene returned to her side and kissed her brow. “You did great, sweetie.”

“You got a little scared on me,” Raven said.

Margene clutched her chest. “You’re my baby and that was too much pain for Momma to witness. Whew, I’m glad that’s over. I’m an old woman. I can’t take the stress!”

Raven laughed. Valentina and Zephyr returned inside as the doctor finished up. He told her the nurse would be in to see to her in a few. That she would heal nicely. But Raven had her doubts. She felt like she’d been knifed in her coochie. “Thank you, doctor,” she grimaced.

“We got a boy, what are we going to do with a boy?” Zephyr asked. She went over to kiss Raven again.

“Have him play with a little girl maybe,” Valentina sighed.

They looked to her confused. Raven sighed. “Not you too. I don’t know what Alexander said to you but I’m not making a bunch of babies. This right here has been a very eye-opening experience.”

“Not you silly, me. I might be pregnant,” Valentina announced.

  “Shut your mouth!” Zephyr gasped.

Raven blinked rapidly. “You might be pregnant?”

Valentina shrugged. “Shit happens you know.”

Raven and Zephyr exchanged a look. Neither said what they were thinking. “So it’s good news right?” Zephyr asked.

  “Yea, Matt’s happy. So yeah.”

Zephyr raised her hand. “I got news.”

  “You pregnant too?” Raven gasped.

“No, but José and I are back together, and before either of you say anything this is good news, so behave accordingly.”

Valentina smiled. “So what season is it now, Zee?”

Zephyr looked up to the ceiling and smiled. “It’s a season of change!”

“Yes! A season of change!” Raven agreed.

“More news I’ve been nominated for eight Grammys.” Valentina tossed out.

Zephyr squealed and jumped up and down in her heels. She ran around the bed and attacked Valentina. She hugged her neck. Raven was so exhausted her eyes fluttered shut to the wondrous sound of her friends’ happiness. It matched the warm feeling of love she carried for them both.

A season of change Raven mumbled. She was down with that.
