  Hopeful

Guys like Joel Wentworth weren’t supposed to fall in love with girls like me. He could have had his pick of girls, but somehow the laws of nature were defied and we fell crazy in love.

After graduation, Joel left for New York. And, despite him wanting me to go with him, I’d refused, unwilling to disappoint my parents and risk the judgment of my friends. I hadn’t seen him again. Never even spoken to him.

I’ve spent the last eight years working hard to put my career front and center in my life, dodging any personal complications. I have a strict no-dating policy. I’ve managed to piece together a reality that works for me.

  Until now.

Now, Joel’s coming back to London.

And I need to get over him before he gets over here.

  Hopeful is a stand-alone novel.

  love unexpected

When the fierce redhead with the beautiful ass walks into the local bar, I can tell she’s passing through. And I’m looking for distraction while I’m in town—a hot hook-up and nothing more before I head back to the city.

If she has secrets, I don’t want to know them.

If she feels good underneath me, I don’t want to think about it too hard.

If she’s my future, I don’t want to see it.

I’m Blake McKenna and I’m about to teach this Boston socialite how to forget every man who came before me.

When the future I had always imagined crumbles before my very eyes. I grab my two best friends and take a much needed vacation to the country.

My plan of swearing off men gets railroaded when on my first night of my vacation, I meet the hottest guy on the planet.

I’m not going to consider that he could be a gorgeous distraction.

I’m certainly not going to reveal my deepest secrets to him as we steal away each night hoping no one will notice.

And the last thing I’m going to do is fall in love for the first time in my life.

My name is Mackenzie Locke and I haven’t got a handle on men. Not even a little bit.

  Not until Blake.

Love Unexpected is a stand-alone novel.

  Acknowledgements

This time last year I wrote the acknowledgements for Indigo Nights. Doing it again almost exactly a year later makes me look back at the last twelve months. I can’t believe so much has happened—good and bad but mostly good and I’m thankful for that. I go into 2017 working my notice from my day job. In a few weeks I will be a full time writer. I couldn’t have imagined that when I started out just a few years ago—it’s not even three years since I pressed publish for the first time. Thank you every one of you who has bought my books—you made that dream a reality.

Some books are easy to write. And some aren’t. For some reason this book was one of the more difficult ones. Some things get easier the more you do them, but I’m not sure that will ever happen with writing. I think I just become more aware of what I’m not doing and what needs to be stronger and better. But that’s part of the reason I love writing—all that learning! Thank you for reading. Sam and Grace are very special to me. I hope you enjoyed their story.

Elizabeth – Whenever a book is difficult, we’re always going to say, well at least it’s not as bad as that book. And it wasn’t. But you did have to talk me off that cliff—thank you. I’m glad Sam’s your favorite but we won’t tell anyone. He’s not bad as heroes go. In fact he’s pretty amazing and a huge part of that is thanks to you. I hope 2017 is a fantastic year for you.

Nina – I love you. And you’d make a super-fabulous art consultant—even if you did have Sam against the wall. I can’t wait for that 2017 hug!

Jessica Hawkins – Thank you for being so awesome and supportive.

Karen Booth – Thank you blurb fairy. I can’t believe we got to speak!! Yay!

To all the incredible authors that constantly give me help and support—I love this community and I’m so proud to be a member.

Najla Qamber – You totally nailed this cover. You’re amazing and I appreciate every moment of yours that I get.

Jules Rapley Collins – Thank you for being such a great support babycakes. Megan Fields I know 2017 is going to be good to you.

To all my family and friends who have supported me over the last three years, including you Twirly, I love you. I hope to see a little more of you now I’m not juggling three jobs.

Thanks to all of you who blog, tweet, share, like and help spread the word about my books. I couldn’t do it without you!

  Here’s to book number ten!
