Dice Mage: A GameLit Adventure Page 22

Mike turned and looked out over campus and it hit him just how accurate that assessment was. There were glows starting up in several places that he was pretty sure were fires. Hell, those sirens they’d heard might not even be for their apartment complex if everything was going so thoroughly to hell out there.

“Fuck,” Ron said. “Looks like shit is getting bad out there.”

"So where do we go?" Lisa asked.

"I've got a pretty good idea," Mike said. He looked down at the dice in his hand. A faint light pulsed fitfully from deep inside the things. "We're going to go to the shop where I bought these things, and we're going to see if someone there has some answers.”

“You think they will?” Gwen asked.

“Makes sense,” Sean said. “If they’re selling something related to the game then it stands to reason they might know more about what’s going on here.”

“Yeah, and the place was seriously creepy when I walked in,” Mike said. “Like it looked like something out of an ‘80s sword and sorcery movie brought to life. I think we’ll find some answers there.”

He looked out over campus. Particularly towards the campus village he’d just come from. He had a feeling getting there was going to be a hell of a lot more difficult than it’d been just a few hours ago, and honestly he wasn’t as sure about finding answers there as he was trying to sound for the benefit of his friends, but he figured any goal beat wandering around aimlessly waiting for monsters to come along and kill them.

“Well if we’re going to do this then let’s do this,” he said, grinning despite all the craziness.

Campus was going to hell around them, he seriously wondered whether they’d survive the night, but oddly enough all he could feel was excitement.

He had his magic. He had his friends all around him and they were ready to bust some heads. This game wasn’t going to know what hit it when his party got going.

  Maybe. He hoped.
