Q: Will you be continuing Kylie’s and Jacques’s adventures? What’s next for them?
A: I’d say it’s just the beginning of their adventures! Jacques is going to develop even more abilities and will work closely with the Like a Fly on the Wall team on many cases. Kylie’s passion to learn and excel as a P.I. will be a journey in itself as she learns the ropes.
The supernatural ride I plan to take everyone on will explore everything from past lives, remote viewing, dreams, other dimensions, and much more. Oh, and of course things continue to heat up in their lives, so get ready!
Living the Intuitive Life: An Essay by Simone Kelly
There is a superpower that we all need to take advantage of, but many of us are asleep and unaware of this skill that we have access to 24/7. What is this superpower you ask? It’s intuition, that feeling you get in your gut—you know, the one that warns you or even gives you confirmation about something amazing that’s about to take place. It’s that voice in your head that might tell you to exit the highway now, and you discover later that you avoided a major car accident a mile ahead. It’s our innate defense system that sends us little nudges of what to do next.
Think about it . . . when we were in the jungles, fields, and mountains as primitive humans we were in touch with our senses. We could smell fear. We knew where to go for food. Somewhere along the line in our “evolution” we were taught to not listen to our intuition or even to be afraid of it. Many religions call intuition or psychic abilities “witchcraft” or “evil” or ascribe it to only certain people, when in actuality we all have it. The truth is, you don’t have to open up a psychic storefront with a crystal ball in order to be intuitive.
As we learned early on in Like a Fly on the Wall, Jacques just thought he was good with people as a teen. He was a magnet for people; they always came to him for advice or wanted to share their deepest secrets with him. He was fascinated with psychology and even majored in it at school. Unfortunately, like many of us, he blocked out a lot of memories of his psychic experiences. He began to interpret his dreams as just silly nightmares or wild imaginings. As children, many of us were told we were just making things up or just trying to get attention. We might have started to believe it and so we lost touch with our inner self. Or even worse, we knew we weren’t crazy and that we did really see what we saw, but we kept it to ourselves because we feared disapproval or being called a freak.
In the past ten years, I’ve seen a new world unfold for myself when I started following my gut. Things open up for you. Doors that were closed fly open. I’ve seen it happen for not only myself but also my friends and others I’ve trained in intuition development. Life becomes easier, because we are listening to the messages from our spirit, God, the Universe, our higher power, whatever you want to call it.
Once you become more in tune with who you are, you’ll pay attention to your patterns and live life with eyes wide open . . . meaning opening your third eye as well, the one that represents your intuition. Jacques is like many other intuitives out there, who finally embraced his gift and made it his life’s work.
You can start to use your intuition more in your daily life by paying attention to the messages you receive. I like to call these messages intuitive triggers.
Here are a few I would like to share:
• Goose bumps: This is definitely one of my top triggers! Usually after I say something that is spot-on, I get goose bumps. For me it’s a good trigger, a confirmation. For you it might mean something else.
• Stomach or “gut” reaction: Squirming, butterflies, churning, there are all types of feelings you might get in your belly. Pay attention! Your gut is trying to tell you something.
• Voice in your head: You might hear your own voice, you might hear your mother’s voice, etc. But take note of the messages you receive. Just don’t answer back out loud, or folks might look at you funny!
• Dreams: If you have vivid dreams, keep a notebook by your bedside and write them down the second you wake up, before you forget the key elements. You know by the time you brush your teeth—poof! It’s gone. So write it down right away. There are loads of dream dictionaries online. Start looking up the meanings and get familiar with them. Before you know it, you’ll be able to interpret your own dreams very easily.
• Other people’s energy: Take notice of how you feel when speaking with someone. Their body language, eye contact, or lack thereof. Come on, we usually know when someone isn’t who they say they are or when they seem kind of shifty! (Always ask yourself, “Do I like, trust, and respect this person?” If you answer no to any of those things, be careful!)
As a writer, I always use my intuition. I get hunches about what to write, and even about who to interview for certain characters. It’s as if the characters come alive, they speak to me and ask to be heard. It comes very naturally for me, and it’s almost as if they are real and I’m channeling them. When you write fiction, at times you zone out and the pen just begins to flow as the characters take on a life of their own. Usually when I get that hunch about a new character or a scene, I will get the trigger of goose bumps. If it’s really good, I get them even on my scalp and down my legs! In the early development of this book, coincidences and my dreams were big indicators for me. When I constantly get signs, I follow them and dig deeper into why I’m getting them.
I’ll share a little secret with you. A coincidence surrounding my book that still blows me away is one having to do with who was going to be Jacques and his sidekick. First off, Jacques’s character was inspired by the movie Unfaithful. I thought the main character, who had a French accent, was sexy, and I thought it would be cool to have a character with a mixed background who had a slight accent. That same week, I saw a billboard ad at a construction site with the name Kylie Minogue on it. I thought, Hmmm . . . Kylie. I like that name a lot. I’ll name my character that.
The twilight-zone moment happened when I researched the actor who played the Unfaithful character. His name is Olivier Martinez (does that first name sound familiar to ya?) and I saw that his father was from Morocco. Then, in his biography at the time it said he was dating KYLIE MINOGUE. I almost passed out. I’m mean, come oooon . . . What are the odds? When things like that happen, that is a sign you’re onto something. Keep going.
As the book progressed, I would be at a party, meeting a random person, and he or she would be Moroccan and French (the exact heritage I gave Jacques). I took a Bikram yoga class and my handsome teacher had us all drooling with his sexy accent and his carved physique. When I asked him where he was from he said, “Oh, I am Moroccan and French.” [Insert Twilight Zone music] When God winks at you, take the hint. That’s when I knew, I had to write this book. It was as if I heard the voice in my head say, “You’re onto something, Simone! Go. Go. GO!”
Something as simple as moving the supermarket scene to the front of the book was inspired by a hunch. Instead of appearing a few chapters further in, where it originally was, that frisky and unpredictable scene inserted at the beginning likely made many people inclined to read further.
In my coaching career, I use my intuition in all that I do. In business coaching, life coaching, and for the past ten years, my most popular service has been my intuitive life coaching. I promise that if you develop this superpower you will be on your way to an amazing life. Explore, learn, read, study, take courses, but most of all, honor and discover your intuition!
