  * * * *

“Well, was I right, or was I right?” Brendan rubbed his flat stomach and watched as his mate slump back into the couch.

“At the risk of your head swelling to gigantic proportions, yes, you were right. That was amazing!” She sighed in pleasure, picked up her half-finished beer, and snuggled between him and Cody.

Brendan’s heart turned over at her contented sigh.

“After everything that happened, I never got to hear about AJ and Sam? How did their surgery go?” Lucy placed one hand on Brendan’s thigh and curled her feet up in Cody’s lap.

“Ty said they both required surgery, even with the healing powers of their wolves, they required a little assistance. AJ had to have a couple of bones fused in his back. He’ll make a full recovery.” Brendan grimaced. “It’s Sam who will require a little more time to recover. The burns on his neck and hands were really bad. He had to have a couple of skin grafts on his neck and the skin on his hands was bad, but they think that they’ll heal up enough he’ll have almost all of the movement back in them.”

Lucy felt tears welling, and Brendan caught her thoughts and sadness for her friends.

“Family, pet, they’re your family now. And we will do everything we can for them.” Cody rubbed his palm up Lucy’s leg in comfort.

“Yeah, I know. I’ll keep Country Blue going, and I’m sure the staff will all rally together to make sure everything goes well. I know that there are a couple of vacancies the guys were struggling to fill, so I’ll get on to those and try to get them filled before they come home. Do you know when that might be?”

Lucy was in organization mode, and Brendan could see the to-do list forming behind her eyes.

“Hopefully in a couple of weeks. They will be allowed to come back to Grey River and under the care of Chris within the next week though, which will be good.” Brendan shot Cody a look, and at Cody’s nod, he continued. “There’s something else you should know about today Lucy. It’s going to sound a little strange, and you of all people will probably take it all in your stride and not even bat a pretty little eyelid. The fire was acting peculiar on the ground, and that made it hard for the boys to put it out.”

“What do you mean ‘it was acting peculiar’? You’re talking about it like it had an intention to do harm, like it had a personality or something.”

“To firefighters it does, and there are those of us who work peripherally with them who’ve seen it. Fire can be beautiful and moving slowly, even dancing, as it burns.” Cody turned in his seat a little to see Lucy better. “Then there are the fires that burn fast and hot, that whirl and spin and come at you relentlessly. But from what Kyle Snow was saying yesterday, this damn fire actually defied physics, moving against the wind and started without an accelerant. The thing that adds another level of what the hell to this whole thing is that someone was blocking Ty’s link to AJ and Sam.”

“What?” Lucy’s shock filled their bond. “How can someone block a psychic bond between people?”

“I guess by being a stronger psychic,” Brendan surmised. That was his theory at least. “Ty felt two separate psychic touches in his mind. He believes that one was trying to help him while the other one wanted to create as much damage as possible. He’s pretty sure that the helpful one is female.”

Lucy sat there quietly processing the information, and then she nodded slowly. “Okay, that makes sense in a weird Twilight Zone kinda way, but yeah, why not? So we are dealing with not one but two people who can manipulate psychic fields as well as manipulate fire?” She looked between Brendan and Cody, and when both of them nodded, she suddenly grinned. “Well, bring them on! We’re pack, right? Strong alone but stronger together. They bring the fight to us, then we’ll fucking end it! And just so we are clear, when I say we, I mean you guys, Ty and Trent!”

Brendan threw his head back and laughed at how bloodthirsty his mate was becoming. She was already more than he had ever thought he would be lucky enough to find in a mate, but the more time they spent with her they saw more of what made her their Lucy and that made them love her even more. “Right, my love,” Brendan said, his voice filled with heat, and he let his dominance out a little knowing it turned their mate on. He was rewarded with her heartbeat and her breath becoming faster. “I’m thinking it might be about time to head onto bed.”

“I’d have to agree, B. It has been one hell of a day.”

Cody grabbed Lucy around the waist and swung her up and over his shoulder squealing as he stood and ran to their bedroom. By the time he got her to the room, with Brendan right on his heels, she was giggling and hanging on for dear life.

“Cheese and rice, Cody, don’t drop me!” Lucy laughed, then gave a short scream as he flipped her over his shoulder and on the bed. By the time she had stopped bouncing, Brendan, already naked, had leapt on the bed to join her.

“How the fuck do you do that so bloody fast, B?” Cody grumbled as he stripped and joined them.

“The motivation is too damn high. Our beautiful mate gets me running so fucking hot so fast it’s like my clothes just combust right off me,” Brendan joked as his pulled his T-shirt over her head and baring her to them. Fuck she was stunning. He pounced on her, driving her onto her back, and took her mouth. Every damn time he got his hands on her, it was like the first time. Her unique flavor made his head spin, and the peach smelling body wash she used swirled through his senses igniting his arousal like a match to tinder. Fuck he dreaded smelling anything peach outside their home for fear of getting an erection he couldn’t damn well hide.

He felt the bed move, and then their mate moaned low. The fingers she had wrapped in the hair at the back of his neck clenched. Cody must have settled in for a spell and was driving her crazy with his mouth. He must be doing something right because their mate was mewling from the back of her throat, which had his blood racing.

Kneeling, Brendan brought his cock level with her mouth. “Come on, sweetheart. Get me nice and hard and wet so that I can fuck you good.” He grabbed the base of his cock with his left hand and helped her up onto her elbows with his right. Then he feed his cock into her mouth. Damn her lips looked fucking fantastic wrapped around his cock. “Use your tongue, baby. Yeah, right there! Suck me harder! Ugh, yeah, do that again, fuck baby you are so bloody good at this!” Lucy was alternating between strong, hard pulls along his cock and nibbles around its head making him shake.

“Cody, stop. I’ve gotta get inside her now.”

Cody pulled back and Brendan lifted their mate onto all fours. He shuffled up behind her and thrust in hard and fast. Both moaned at the feel of it, and when she arched her back and pushed back into him, he wrapped his arms up under her shoulders and plowed into her.

“Ahhh, fuck, Brendan, that feels so fucking good,” Lucy panted. Cody stepped up to stand in front of her and without a word, she took him in her mouth.

“Jesus Christ, woman! Your mouth is fucking lethal!” Cody grunted through gritted teeth.

Brendan could feel his balls tighten and a tingling start at the base of his spine, but he was desperate to hold off until their mate had reached her peak. Placing his mouth against her neck, he continued to thrust into her, twisting his hips at the end of each thrust. Just when he thought he was going to have to resort to reciting the periodic table in an attempt to stave off his orgasm, he felt her pussy start to quiver around his cock.

Reaching his hand under her, he pressed a finger against her clit, and she shattered around him. Her pussy clenched rhythmically, throwing him into his own orgasm, milking the cum from his balls. He threw his head back and roared his pleasure to the room, dimly aware of his brother shouting their mates name at the same time. He thrust three more times and then collapsed back onto his heels, not wanting to crush their mate.

All three took a moment to bring their breathing under control, then Brendan rolled their mate over so he could snuggle her properly. Cody flopped onto the bed to lie on the other side of her. They cuddled and murm
ured their love for each other as they snuggled down and reveled in the fact that they were together and safe. The danger that had hung over their heads since the day they had met had been neutralized, and their future looked nothing but bright. Lucy’s breathing eventually evened out and deepened as she fell into a deep sleep, right where she belonged—naked and pressed between him and his brother, the place where Brendan planned to ensure she spent a lot of time.

  Epilogue

  “Lucy!”

Lucy spun at the sound of her name, grinning when she saw Faith striding into the bar. There was still a bruise and knot on her forehead from the fall two days ago, but she looked happy about something. She practically skipped across the floor!

“Hey! What’s got you looking all chipper?” Lucy smiled at her friend. Something was definitely up!

“Just back from seeing AJ and Sam, and they are going to be fine! They’re gonna be transferred to the hospital here over the weekend.” Faith gave her a hug. “How are you? Are you good? Happy? Need anything more in your life to—”

  “Faith! Baby, what ya doing?”

Trent hurried into the bar, moving straight for his mate who squealed, then tried to use her as a human shield, even going so far as to move her around keeping her firmly between her and her mate. It would have been funny if she had any clue as to what the heck these two were doing.

Faith was giggling, and Trent pretended to growl when Faith was suddenly lifted up and away. Turning she laughed to see Faith being swept up into Ty’s arms. Lucy watched as Trent moved toward them, completing their triad. The look of love and utter devotion to each other on their faces was so intense that Lucy felt almost like a voyeur standing in beside them.

“Um, well, ah…I should—coming!” She turned and walked back to the bar, a goofy grin on her face when she saw how perfect the three of them looked standing there together. Still having no idea what on earth had been going on. She headed back to the administration office where she had been conducting the interviews for the new roles.

Boy howdy, there had been some pretty crazy interviews. A few of them looking for a job just to find themselves a man, and she sure as hell didn’t want any floozies working in her bar with her men around. And she wasn’t just talking about Brendan and Cody. She was talking about all her men. Each and every one of the Grey River Pack. When she reached the door to the office, she walked in for her next interview, the apology she had just been about to offer for being slightly late died when she saw who was waiting in the office waiting for her.

“Hey!” She felt her heart beat faster and her body soften, her usual reaction to her mates. “What are you two doing here? I thought we were meeting for lunch at noon?”

“Yeah, kitten we are, but we’re your next interview.”

Brendan grabbed her hand to lead her over to the couch in the office and sat down next to her. Cody sat on the coffee table in front of them and placed his hands on her knees.

“You guys planning on a little moonlighting?” She grinned, starting to feel a little nervous when they didn’t grin back at her.

“That’s not really the role we want to interview for, Luce.” Cody reached out, and smoothed the back of his hand against her cheek. “The job we’re looking for is more of a long time role. Pet, we are already your mates, and to us that means that we are yours forever.”

“Just as I am yours,” Lucy said she had an inkling what was going on her but didn’t want to say the wrong thing and jinx it.

“Damn straight you’re ours, kitten.” Brendan smirked and winked at her. “And we want to bind you to us using every possible tie we can. So, kitten, we are here to apply for the role of your husbands.”

Lucy gasped when Cody suddenly placed a velvet jewelry box on her knee and opened it to show her a beautiful princess-cut diamond solitaire on a solid platinum band.

“Marry us, pet. You are already our mate in truth, but be our wife as well?” Cody spoke softly.

“Please, kitten, marry us?” Brendan whispered.

Lucy looked between these two men who had saved her from.. well everything! “You know, I have always had the worst luck. Everything in my life that could have gone wrong did, usually quite craptastically. But from that day, the day I thought my life was going to end? That was actually the day my life began. Yes, of course yes, I will marry you both. I will be your mate and your wife.” Lucy sobbed and laughed at the joy that spread across her mates’ faces.

She was immediately engulfed by her men. After a few minutes Cody chuckled and Brendan pulled his mouth from hers to do the same. Smiling she asked, “What did I miss this time?”

“Ty was warning us that Faith is on the war path trying to get up to you to hear what we said to you, saying something about living romantically through you because her mates lack the romantic gene that apparently runs strong in us.” Brendan grinned. “He said we had better get down there so we can celebrate as a family.”

Taking their hands in hers, she led them from the room, and as they started down the stairs Lucy could see Faith and her mates standing where she had left them. Ty had his arms around Faith’s waist and she was struggling to get free. “Faith,” Lucy yelled down the stairs.

Faith spun in Ty’s arms so fast she almost toppled over. “Well? What happened? What did they say?” Faith started jumping up and down. “More importantly, what did you say?”

“I said yes, of course!” Lucy held up her hand, diamond sparkling for all to see. Grinning from ear to ear, looking at her mates she could see that they were grinning just as broadly.

“Yay! Woo-hoo!” Faith danced around hugging her mates.

It was great being part of this family and she started to think that hell, It might have been just Lucy’s luck that her road to getting here was bumpy to say the least, but she had to say, now that she was here, it was all worth it. Maybe, just maybe, her luck had changed!
