“When?” Alek raised a brow. “Are you telling me that you are considering allowing me to transform you?”
“I mean,” Danielle said, turning even redder, “it’s still too early to say anything for sure. But I was just curious what I would be able to do for you and how things worked.”
“Vampires can feed on each other and it will sustain them,” Alek said, “but there is something about feeding on a human transformed into a vampire that still taste like sunshine and life… It is why most vampires still take human feeders, even with mates.”
“But not Nikolai,” Danielle pointed out.
“No,” he agreed, “but Lizzie was a human before he turned her.”
He reached up and curled an errant strand of hair behind her hair. “I would be honored to be your maker,” he said, “when the time is right for us. For now, I am content to be around you always, buried inside of you or holding your hand. You give me life, Danielle, and I cannot be without you. You hold my heart in the palm of your hand.”
Danielle felt her heart clench with warmth and she leaned forward and kissed his mouth.
“I love you, too,” she murmured against his lips. She slid off her chair and into his lips, claiming his lips with a long kiss.
Things weren’t completely resolved, but that was okay. She knew that everything would work itself out the way it was supposed to. Eventually.
