He looked at Sean and Sean nodded towards the door. Jordan rose from his seat and met Sean in the hallway.

  “Follow me,” Sean told him.

“Sean, what the hell?” he asked walking next to him.

“We're on our way to the hospital. Ray is taking Sage there right now.”

Jordan stopped. “The hospital? What happened?” he demanded.

“The baby's coming. Now let's go,” Sean said pushing Jordan ahead.

Jordan was confused, scared, and confused. Sean led him to the car and climbed in after him.

Jordan's dark confused eyes met Sean's. “Is she okay?” he asked quietly.

“Ray's with her. She started having pains and he had to take her in,” Sean explained.

Jordan shook his head. “She was fine this morning. I asked her.”

“Well I guess your baby does things like you. Whenever he feels like it.”

Jordan didn't even catch what Sean was saying. He just wanted Sage and the baby to be alright.

When they arrived at the hospital Jordan didn't wait for the customary raps on the hood. He was out of the car before it came to a complete stop and Sean was right behind him. As soon as Jordan entered the building there was staff waiting to escort him to Sage.

“Mr. Black we need to get you into some scrubs as quickly as possible because your baby has decided that today is the day,” one of the nurses told him. Jordan was led to a changing room and given a set of green scrubs. He shrugged out of his jacket and dropped it to the floor. His tie, shirt and pants followed next. Jordan stepped into the scrub pants and quickly pulled the shirt over his head. He left the pile on the floor as he rushed out of the room. For the first time in his life Jordan undressed without folding and placing his clothing and he didn't even realize it.

The nurse showed him to Sage's room and he was at her side instantly. When she looked up and saw him her brown eyes showed relief.

  “Jordan!” she called.

“I'm here Sage,” he said taking her hand. Jordan looked around at the machines that were connected to Sage. He could hear his baby's heartbeat pounding out from one of them.

  Jordan's eyes sought hers.

“I'm right here baby,” he assured her holding her hand tightly.

An hour later Jordan swore he would never put Sage through this again. She was exhausted, squeezing the hell out of his hand and screaming her ass off. He was too afraid to say a word to her. What was there to say? He just sat there rubbing her head.

“Okay daddy this little one is ready,” the doctor told Jordan then had him come to the end of the table to catch his baby. This had been one of Sage's ideas. She wanted Jordan's touch to be the first their baby felt in the outside world. She'd said it was important to begin the transfer of love energy as soon as possible. Jordan had agreed but now looking down at what he was seeing, he was rethinking that decision.

“Now Mommy, on the next contraction we need you to bear down and push as hard as you can,” the doctor instructed.

Three more pushes like that and Jordan was holding his baby in his hands stunned.

“It's a girl!” the doctor announced and Sage smiled a Jordan.

Taking the baby from him the doctor told him to pick up the scissors to cut the cord. Jordan froze for a moment until a nurse came over to assist him. With cord cut they handed the baby back to him and he carried her over to the examining table.

“This little one wants to keep her eyes closed,” the nurse commented. “Come on little one let's see those eyes,” she cooed at the baby as Jordan stood admiring his daughter. She had his complexion in a deep dark brown. Her dark curly hair was all over her little head. She had her mother's full lips, he'd recognized from the beginning.

His daughter began to kick her little legs as the nurse tried to coax her to open her eyes. The nurse turned to Jordan.

“Maybe she'll open them for you Daddy,” she said.

Jordan touched her tiny face and felt a tremor go through his whole body. “Hey pretty little girl,” he whispered. “Let Daddy see those eyes.” After a few moments her tiny lids lifted to reveal beautiful bright tawny brown eyes.

“Oh my!” the nurse exclaimed. “She's beautiful!”

Jordan's heart exclaimed the exact same thing. His daughter stared up at him and he knew his life would never be the same, just like the first time he saw her mother.

“She looks like an exotic baby doll with that coloring and those eyes!” another nurse exclaimed.

“Okay Daddy you can take her over to Mommy,” the nurse announced after completing her check of the baby. She wrapped the baby in a blanket and handed her to Jordan.

Sage watched Jordan coming towards her carrying their daughter. He gently placed her in Sage's arms. She looked down at eyes exactly like hers and Jordan's beautiful skin tone and a tear slid down her cheek as she looked up at Jordan.

“She's beautiful,” she said in awe.

“She looks just like her mother,” he said softly wiping her cheek.

Sage smiled at him. “She has her father's skin. It's so amazing.”

The doctors and nurses completed their tasks and left the new parents alone with their bundle.

Jordan took the seat next to the bed. Little Miss Black was content in her mother's arms. He looked from his wife to his daughter.

“Sage...” he began and then couldn't continue.

He lowered his head and pinched the bridge of his nose.

“I never thought...that I would be able to have...what you have given me,” he breathed out. “I have to tell you...something about me.” He didn't look at her.

Sage could tell that Jordan was struggling. Something she'd never seen him do. Jordan was the most confident person she knew. Sometimes too much so, but he was afraid. This fearless man who loved her unconditionally was afraid to tell her something. Something that right now didn't mean a thing to her. Something that if she really wanted to know she had the skills to find out at any time. Sage reached out to him.

“Jordan, I don't care what it is. I love you Jordan.”

He raised those dark eyes to hers. She noticed moisture there and her heart melted.

“I will never let you down,” he vowed.

“You never have Jordan,” she told him as he leaned over to kiss her.

After the baby's first feeding the family was allowed in to see the new baby. Sean, Lily, and Ray entered the room with squeals of delight. The first to see her was her Uncle Ray.

“Hey Jay, your daughter looks just like me!” Ray commented laughing.

“No. She does not,” Jordan responded. “She looks like her mother and me.”

Ray stared down at his sister holding her baby. “She's beautiful Goddess.” He kissed her cheek. “My Baby Goddess has her own little Baby Goddess.”

Looking down at the baby he said, “Welcome Baby Goddess.” As he moved away Lily and Sean got their first peek at the baby who was watching them.

“She's so beautiful!” Lilly exclaimed. “You're right Jordan, she's a perfect blend of you and Sage,” she told him.

Jordan smiled. “Thank you Lily. Finally someone with some sense.”

Sean looked at the bright eyed girl and said, “I don't know. She kind of does look like Ray,” he teased Jordan.

“Shut up Sean,” Jordan tossed back and Sean laughed.

“Actually she's incredibly beautiful, so she only looks like Sage,” Sean commented before smiling down at Sage. “You look beautiful as well Sage,” he told her.

  “Thank you Sean.” Sage smiled.

Sean walked over to Jordan. “Good job man.” The two men gave each other a brief hug and pat on the back.

“Thanks Sean,” Jordan said. “Thanks for always being there.” Sean smiled and nodded.

“Brother-in-law!” Ray said opening his arms. “Love brother. Love.” He grabbed Jordan in a bear hug.

“That's my niece right there! That's my blood!” Ray exclaimed. “She's beautiful and you're her damn Daddy!”<

“Ray!” everybody in the room screamed.

  “What?”

“Sun God, don't curse in front of my baby,” Sage admonished.

He looked at her then at Jordan and back to her. “And you two are her parents? That baby will be cursing before she can talk!” he said laughing.

Sean shook his head while looking at Jordan. Ray is her uncle, he thought again. Poor kid.

“Does this little baby doll have name yet?” Lily asked.

“Yes.” Jordan spoke up. “Her name is Diamond Ebony.”

Ray looked to Sage. “Diamond. Formed in the earth's mantle. Beautiful and unbreakable.” he explained to the room.

He looked from Sage to Jordan. “The perfect combination.”

Lily smiled. “That's so cool. I love it. Diamond Black.”

Everyone in the room smiled as little Diamond cooed softly watching the people who would love her and protect her with their lives.

The group stayed until visiting hours were over. When Jordan handed Sean his wrinkled clothing Sean looked at him and smiled knowingly. Watching the birth of his daughter had changed something within him. His priorities were no longer the same.Things that were of the utmost importance before now seemed frivolous. Now watching his daughter nurse from his wife he knew that he was a different man. Oh, he was still going to handle business, and handle it well, but his most important business was now right in front of him.

“Do you want to hold her? She's done,” Sage said breaking him out of his thoughts. He stood and took his daughter holding her against his heart. Sitting back in the chair he looked over at Sage.

“How are you baby?” he asked.

She smiled. “I'm perfect,” she said staring at her husband and daughter. “How are you?”

He watched his daughter watch him. “I'm amazed and humbled.”

“Yeah. She does that to you,” she whispered.

Jordan now watched his wife. “So tell me Mrs. Black have you been asking the Universe for anything else that you want with all your heart?” he asked smiling at her.

“Actually I have,” she said drowning in those dark eyes.

“And what is that pretty girl?”

She smiled a full smile. “To experience the Black Magic eternally.

  The end for now...
