I Never Planned on You Page 27

by Stefanie Jenkins

“If it were on the floor and you were in my arms naked writhing underneath my touch.” I know he can feel my heart racing and my breath catch. “But first, dance with me.”

Right now, and always, I would follow Kyler anywhere, but for now, I follow him to the dance floor as a familiar tune of “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur plays. I smile knowing that in a few short months, we will be sharing the dance floor together as husband and wife for the first time to this song. Kyler wraps his arms around me again, pulling me closer to him while we sway to the music and get lost in the movement. I can hear him softly singing the lyrics to me. Ky had actually picked this song to be our first dance because he thought the lyrics were appropriate.

I think about all we lost—a lover, a brother, a son, a friend—and my heart hurts, but as I look around the room at what we have gained—a fiancé, a spouse, a daughter, a friend, and in-laws—my heart feels whole and complete. I watch my parents and Haylee’s sway on the dance floor, laughing, and my brother holding his daughter and his wife in his arms, smiling ear to ear.

When the song ends, I look into Kyler’s chocolate-brown eyes and see my forever. “I love you, Kyler.”

He leans down to kiss me, but just before our lips touch, he says, “I love you too, baby. Forever and always.”

  THE END

Fall in love with Zach and Haylee all over again as we watch their story unfold from the beginning.

First, I would like to thank YOU for taking a chance on me and picking up this book. This book started as an idea while driving on 95 headed to Maryland for the holidays with family, and here I am sharing this story with the world. There may be times when you read this story and want to throw tomatoes at me; I totally understand but always remember I did put your broken heart back together, so you’re welcome.

Travis, thank you for your support of yet another crazy idea in my head and for listening to me talk about my characters as if they were my real friends.

Jameson & Tucker, you boys are the reason I do everything. I love you both so much for understanding the nights when mommy has to work. A special trip to Dunkin Donuts’ is necessary to celebrate.

The Chaddettes, I’m happy to have found my tribe in the writing world and have the love and support of you guys along this journey. We’re all doing this thing – YAY! You guys were the first to read this story, and you didn’t run in the opposite direction screaming, so thank you. Ya’ll may have thrown tomatoes but you didn’t run. Amanda, BJ and Claudia, I need to give you three a special shout out. You guys have dealt with my crazy the most. You three have listened to my word vomiting talking through scenes, my silly videos, and HEYOs and still love me all the same. I am so lucky to have you ladies in my life.

TK, can you believe it? I did it! All of those messages of “so I did a thing” finally paid off. Thanks so much for being there every step of the way.

Sandra, Jeanette, Angel & Clara, you four ladies are the ones who helped bring my book baby to life behind the scenes.

Lastly, I need to give a big shout out to the Surf City Dunkin Donuts. Without your morning and usually afternoon coffees, I wouldn’t be able to get through the days and nights while bringing these stories to life.
