“Guess who’s at the front door?”
“Who?”
“My nominee for new partner.” Looking amused, Falcon raised his chin at Jaxon Kell.
A week later the newly formed K Team embarked on their first patrol as a unit. Jax wasn’t inducted as a knight. He was officially dubbed an associate and allowed to continue to live in the city, which was his very strong preference.
Falcon knew it was an odd relationship, but if he stopped and thought about it, he’d have to admit that most things about his life were odd by the standards of most of the world’s population.
Ten weeks later Rachel gave birth to a beautiful little boy. Falcon and Rachel were in the delivery room, ready to take over as his parents as soon as he made an appearance.
When the nurse came to get his name for his birth certificate, Gretchen proudly said, “Rolfe Wakenmann Falcon.”
Hearing it out loud for the first time and knowing it was permanently attached to that little baby caused Falcon to have to look away and get his composure together. After all, tears of wonder and joy were for women.
They didn’t have to go through The Order’s annals to know that it was the first time a vampire and a black swan knight had been named joint guardians of a baby. If bad luck should befall young Wakey’s parents, Spaz and Jax had agreed to step in. Jax said he’d be the best damn father alive. ~~
