  DEDICATION

Putting a partner’s name in the dedication is a big deal. It’s like getting their name tattooed on your ass. It’s either going to bring you pleasure or pain when you have to get it lasered off. That said, I’m taking a chance and dedicating this book to Lucy. She’s the blonde that makes me smile, that makes me laugh and who brings a whole new meaning to the word, happy. Thank you for being in my life.

  Chapter One

Annalise knew that fairies really existed. They weren’t just in the fairy-tale books her Mommy read. She was in the water one minute and on the beach the next. Her eyes went wide and her lips parted in shock. There was a man before her. He was beautiful. Not handsome like Mommy said Daddy was but so completely beautiful. He was tall like a giant with crazy green hair and eyes the color of sparkling emeralds. Out of his back came big green wings, almost like a giant butterfly. Annalise smiled. “Thank you,” she sputtered after her lungs cleared completely of water. “I’m Annalise.” She extended her hand.

The man lifted a brow but grinned. His big hand engulfed hers. The wings at his back fluttered. He looked as if he was going to speak but another voice, her mother’s, echoed. The panicked, frantic sound came closer with each second.

The fairy before her with green hair and fantastical wings went wide-eyed. He immediately bent and jumped into the air. Annalise watched, amazed, as he flew into the sky. He went toward the forest and she quickly turned to watch him fly away. “Wait, what’s your name?” she called out, desperate to know more. Annalise was going to tell everyone that fairies were real!

“Damn it, Annalise, why didn’t you answer me?” Her father’s booming voice sounded.

She finally looked away. The fairy disappeared into the tall trees. “I saw a fairy. A real fairy!” She was too excited not to yell the revelation.

“What?” He pushed the glasses farther up on his big nose and glanced into the woods. “What do you mean?”

  “A man with wings.”

“A man was here.” He instantly went on guard and grabbed her shoulder gently but firmly. “What did I tell you about strangers?”

“Where were you?” Her mother appeared and gathered her up to give her a great big bear hug.

“She was talking with some man,” her father said. “Let’s get back to the boat. We’re not staying in Ireland anymore. We’re going to Iceland next.”

Daddy had lots of money and they were traveling the world but she would give it all up to stay here and find her green-haired fairy. “No!” Annalise cried out. “He wasn’t just a man...”

“He was a fairy,” Annalise cried out as her eyes jerked open. She was covered in a fine sweat as she sat up. Her breaths were gasps. Even after years of intense therapy, no one could convince her that day was a child’s active imagination.

Annalise still believed her green-haired fairy was out there. Somewhere.

Wick’s green hair was splattered with black blood. He locked swords with a nasty smelling troll and pushed with all his might. With a good kick to the shin, the thing faltered and he used that to his advantage. He pulled out his dagger and drove it deep into its foul chest. More black liquid oozed out, the fight left the scaly troll, and Wick pushed him over. Weapons free, he turned toward the battle, catching sight of the various warrior fairies swooping down and hovering out of the trolls’ reach to ensure victory.

This was just another battle in the war with the trolls.

Wick shouted, charging into combat and using his wings to make his way to the king’s side. His testosterone was boiling to the surface, adrenaline kept him alert, and his new focus in life seemed to be the war alone. He swung his sword down, removing an arm and hearing the hideous troll cry. Wick was just about to cut down another when a blur came out of the shadows and sliced the troll’s head clean off his shoulders.

“Damn it, you freaky bastard.” Whisper always stole his kills. The blue-haired fairy grabbed another troll and dragged him into the forest. Screams echoed throughout.

One troll yelled and suddenly the creatures began to flee. They dropped their swords and ran toward the tree line.

“Idiots,” Wick muttered. That’s where Whisper was. He knew for a fact none of them would survive despite the retreat.

“Another victory!” King Carrick shoved his blood-covered sword into the air and the fairy warriors followed suit.

This was another battle under their metaphorical belts. Wick glanced down. His loincloth and bare skin were covered with the nasty troll blood. He’d settle for a good wash and a willing woman. Wick shifted his stance, catching sight of Whisper through the thick forest. A scream rang out. “Does he freak anyone else out?” Wick shoved his sword back into the sheath.

“Yes,” Thame, the golden fairy, said as he moved toward their king.

“He is efficient and dedicated,” King Carrick said, his blue wings fluttering.

Wick scoffed, “He needs a woman and a personality.”

“Enough,” Carrick interrupted. “We take to the sky and return to the kingdom. Wick, you get to wait for...the dedicated one.” The king winked and extended his blue wings. In seconds, the brightening sky filled with a rainbow of colored wings and nearly naked men.

“Yes, sir.” Wick sighed. He waited for the others to fly over the treetops toward home before he walked to the edge of the trees. Sniffing the air engulfed his lungs with the foul odor of troll. “Are you done yet?” he yelled into the fading darkness. Sunrise approached, and with a glance backward, he flew into the trees slowly, careful not to be caught on the bare branches as spring was just beginning to fill their sharp edges with soft leaves. “Oh, dark and dedicated one...”

A growl sounded from below and then beside him. A shadow shifted, and part of Whisper’s face was visible. “I’m hunting them.”

“Fine. Go play. I’m taking a bath.” Wick knew the fairy was fine by himself but he didn’t want to go too far. Better safe than sorry. At least that was what their human queen Brook said. She was full of such wisdom. Wick flew off toward the sound of water. Yeah, a human now resided in the fairy kingdom. Hell, quite a few humans. With the fairy population dwindling, they ventured out into the human world for mates. Who knew that would solve their main problem, procreation. Queen Brook was with child and so was Thame’s woman. It was a miracle, one that made Wick jealous as hell. He saw those fairies turn into happy men. Even the morose Keyn had a smile on in face in the presence of his mate, Trillian. Wick was horny, lonely and smelled like rotting garbage.

He landed beside the stream. The running water was quick enough to clean but would not sweep him off his feet. Wick glanced around, sniffed the air to be sure nothing lingered, and untied his loincloth. He threw it down on the shore and his stiff cock sprang free. What else was new? With all these sexy women around he was constantly hard. He stepped into the
stream, the water cool but not cold. It lapped at his ankles like an anxious lover. Wicked walked forward to the center of the stream where it reached his hips.

His big hands cupped water to splash onto his chest. He rubbed hard trying to scrub his flesh clean. His skin was tanned from years of enjoying the sun. Hell, he was one hundred years old. Wick bent over and dunked his head beneath the water. His fingers brushed at his scalp before he swung back to a standing position. Water splattered on the nearby tree and dripped down his back. His hands moved to his thighs, stroking the columns before moving between. His cock was bobbing with the current, excited by his touch. He gripped the long pole and stroked it tenderly. “You and me, buddy.” His palm rubbed the tip over and over, flesh against slick flesh. The movements underwater caused the glassy surface to shimmer. Keyn arched back, his hand working on his shaft. The motions were like breathing, so familiar after all these years. The build-up was instant, that shudder of need and the increase in breath. Long strokes were followed by quick ones.

The release was sudden. The pressure in his balls busted, and cum shot from his cock and into the stream. His body shuddered, pleasure swarmed, his eyes closed, and the tension that had been mounting all day was gone. Wick let go of his satisfied dick. He glanced around the forest to make sure no one saw his erotic show. Then again, so what if they did? He continued to clean his body with a naughty grin.

Annalise stood beneath the showerhead, her mind drifting as warm water sprayed her body. The stall was big but that’s what money got her. Being from a very wealthy family, she could afford the best boat to sail the shores of Ireland. She’d started the day she turned eighteen, searching every single beach for the green-haired fairy. Turning up nothing had been a blow to her soul but she vowed not to give up. Someone entered the bathroom and Annalise could make out the familiar silhouette. “Good morning.”

“Getting up at the crack of dawn is not good.” Jayn said, still grouchy in the wee hours of sunrise.

Annalise turned the water off and twisted her long, dark brown hair in her hands to get excess water out. They had met years ago on the shores of America. The chemistry between them was instant. Though Annalise didn’t consider herself a lesbian, she did accept and embrace her sexual attraction to Jayn. Annalise had never been with a man. Secretly she held onto the belief that her only true love could be a man with wings. To the public and family, she was a proud lesbian.

The glass door opened and Jayn stuck her head in. “Another fairy search today.” She turned on the water.

Annalise’s damp hair was splattered with lukewarm water and her skin broke out in goose bumps. “I don’t know how you put up with me.” Everyone thought she was crazy. Hell, even the expensive doctors said she was loony. Annalise had to lie just to get out of the spotlight and therapist’s chair. When she told Jayn the truth, about her green-haired fairy, somehow this woman hadn’t walked away. Jayn didn’t believe her but she didn’t say it was impossible. Annalise smiled. “I love you.”

Jayn grinned and backed out of the shower. Clothes rustled as she said, “I know. What’s with the lovey-dovey stuff?” She pulled the door opened and stood there.

There was nothing like Jayn naked. Annalise still couldn’t pull her eyes away from the creamy skin, beautiful plump breasts, and muscles. She had a few scars from being a cop but to Annalise, the woman was Aphrodite of the twenty-first century. “Just thinking.” Annalise reached out and stroked Jayn’s nipple until it hardened.

“Be careful or I’ll hold you down and make you scream, baby. Then you’ll never be able to find this elusive fairy man.” Jayn reached down and stroked her fingers through the small patch of hair between her own legs. “Care to play a bit before you leave?” She winked and stepped into the stall.

Annalise glanced out the porthole. The sun was just starting to crest the horizon. She did have a few minutes to spare. The smile on her face grew and she turned to Jayn. “Quick. I have a lot of ground to cover today.” Annalise dropped to her knees and shifted so she lay on the shower floor. Her nipples hardened as she opened her legs to show off her bare pussy. The skin was pink and she knew it would be as soft as a baby’s bottom.

Jayn gave a hearty, almost evil laugh and quickly got to her knees. She straddled Annalise’s head, giving her a gorgeous view of her landing strip pubic hair and the small petals that led to her wet core.

Annalise parted those lower lips with her fingers and reached out to tickle Jayn’s clit. She only stroked it twice before Jayn’s breath fanned across her thigh. The moment Jayn’s mouth touched her pussy, a moan left her lips. Annalise had come to enjoy these intimate moments. Between them, this was all about a woman’s pleasure and the joys that can come from same-sex intimacy. Jayn’s head lowered between her legs and her tongue outlined Annalise’s clit. Pleasure spiked. Two could play that game. Annalise knocked Jayn’s legs out so that scrumptious pussy was right above her mouth then she had a feast of flesh.

Annalise was panting, ready to scream from Jayn’s attention to her cunt. Annalise’s hips bucked and she spread her legs as wide as they would go. When the orgasm came, it literally swept the oxygen from her lungs. She shuddered and moaned, taken by the sheer overwhelming gratification. When it faded, Annalise grabbed Jayn’s ass, holding her so she couldn’t pull away. Annalise worked her clit as if her life depended on it and tasted the sweet flavor that was Jayn. The tough woman above her cried out and there was a gush of liquid on Annalise’s tongue. After several shudders, Jayn sat up. Annalise reached up and pushed two fingers into Jayn’s moistened hole. She’d come to love and crave Jayn.

“Enough,” Jayn groaned, pulling away to sit on the shower floor.

Annalise followed, spreading Jayn’s thighs and lapping at her lower lips. “You started this.”

“I did not,” she argued between breaths. “You can’t resist my nipples.” Jayn cried out as Annalise’s tongue speared inside her.

Annalise grinned. “True.” Her mouth closed over Jayn’s clit and suckled until another orgasm ravaged her lover’s body. “Beautiful.” Annalise sat up and spread her legs to stroke her satisfied clit.

Jayn nodded, her body being sprayed by the water. “I think I’ll nap right here. When you return, you can just continue where you left off.”

Annalise laughed. She leaned over and found Jayn’s hard nipple. After a few delicate sucks, she pulled away and stood. Though she left her legs open to show off her recently shaved pussy, her thoughts were moving elsewhere.

“Ugh, I know that look.” Jayn sighed and fumbled to her feet. “That, baby, is the ‘fairy’ look.” Jayn smiled, kissed Annalise’s cheek then slipped a finger inside her still wet core. “Can I convince you to stay and play a while longer?”

Despite the very persuading finger that penetrated her body, Annalise shook her head. She reached down, grabbed Jayn’s hand and pulled her wandering fingers out of her hole. “Nope.” Annalise stepped from the shower. She got dressed while Jayn washed in the warm water. Annalise heard the occasional splash and a few tempting moans. “I’ll see you in a few hours.” She glanced back, catching sight of a taut nipple before closing the bathroom door.

The deck revealed a warm spring day. Spring was almost here. The heat was beginning to fume up the windows and Annalise slung her black pack over her shoulder. It took seconds for her to get off the boat and make it to the sandy shore. Once there she glanced at the sky as she always did during every morning of each day. One day she would see him there, green hair ruffled by the wind, wings spread. Annalise walked off into the forest in search of her fairy.

  ****

Wick was in a mood. He just didn’t feel like going back to happy fairies and their mates. Nor did he want to go home to a quiet and lonely place. He stood beneath the willow tree that led to their secret kingdom. He was on guard again. The sun was overhead, warming the cold earth. Barren branches were sprouting green buds. The brown grass was turning into darker patches of life.
Wick inhaled deeply. The air was fresh and aromatic. He stepped from the cool shade and basked in the sunlight. Wearing only a loincloth gave his skin a delicious tan.

He glanced out over the woods, knowing his presence was a waste of time. Whisper was out there somewhere. If any trolls arrived looking for a fight, that fairy would dispatch them before Wick could lift his sword.

  “I’ll keep watch.”

Speaking of the blue freak. Wick glanced behind the tree but Whisper shifted further into the shadows.

“Fine.” He wasn’t about to argue. That was not in his nature. He’d rather make a joke and find a pretty girl to kiss. Wick walked off, not toward the city but those woods. Maybe a stroll would smooth out his increased agitation. Of course, going off by himself in the middle of a war was a great way to be killed. “I’ll walk the perimeter.” There. Strolling but within earshot in case he was needed. Wick placed his hand on the hilt of his sword and made his way around the sunken city. His green wings fluttered and he stretched them as his leg muscles worked.

The more time he spent with the other fairies, the more alone he felt. Sure, he was happy for them, but a part of him was depressed. Wick loosened his hold on his weapon the farther he got from Whisper, his mind wondering, heart aching, and his gaze shifting. His mate had to be out there. Would she just show up all of a sudden like the king’s mate had? Would she be in peril like Keyn’s mate? Would she find him like Thame’s mate? Hell, he didn’t even care how they met, only that they were together. He was so damn sick of being alone. Sometimes he’d dream about her. She’d be in the shadows, but even that seemed to calm his soul.

A sound caught his attention, the soft call of a feminine voice. Wick’s breath caught and he held it to listen. Was that a figment of his overactive imagination? Could it truly be her? He was almost afraid to hope. The noise sounded again. It was definitely a woman. He took to the air, his wings beating furiously as he made his way into the woods. The sound came from toward the water. The sea and the salty air tickled his nose as he searched desperately. He prayed to the Goddess this wasn’t just a wild chase that would leave his heart further battered or worse, a trick of his ears or a dastardly attempt of the trolls.
