“Susan says they don’t know what’s wrong,” Rachel said, looking at Chris.
“Well, the power is affected too, so there is nothing I can do with the computer,” Chris said, leaning back in the chair. “Looks like we’re stuck here for a while.”
Rachel heard her phone buzz and read another message from Susan.
Susan : It seems like we have had a short in the system. There’s no danger, but we have to wait for the company to come and investigate. It might be an hour or two before it’s sorted. Are you okay?
Rachel: Yea. I’m stuck in here with Chris. Just my luck.
Susan: Oh really. Well, make the best of it. No one will know.
Rachel: Smartass. Talk to you later.
Looking at Chris, Rachel shrugged, "no danger, but it looks like it’s a defect in the system. They’ve called for help. Might as well get comfortable. We could be here for an hour or two,” Rachel walked back over and sitting down on the couch.
Chris looked over at her and folded his arms on his chest as he put his feet up on Rachel’s desk. “What are the chances of something like this happening?” he said, smiling at her.
Rachel shrugged, trying to erase the image of his naked body from her mind. Grabbing a file, she opened it and began reading, trying to make herself look busy.
“You know, I’m still not a bad guy,” Chris said, watching her carefully. “You should really give me a chance.”
Rachel pretended to ignore him, holding the paper in front of her face. She hoped he didn’t see her hand shaking.
“Plus, if we were still close friends, we could be naked right now on that couch, seeing as we have a couple of hours, and I could be doing all kinds of fun, naughty things to your body,” Chris whispered just loud enough for Rachel to hear.
Squirming slightly on the couch, she tried to ignore the heat she was feeling between her legs.
“I could slowly take your panties off,” Chris continued amusing himself with her discomfort. “Slowly spread your legs.”
“WILL YOU STOP!” Rachel snapped, glaring at him.
“Am I making you a bit uncomfortable?” Chris smirked to himself.
“It’s not appropriate,” Rachel said, looking away from him.
“Can’t you just imagine how good my tongue would feel down there, licking you slowly, just the way I did last night,” Chris continued.
She couldn’t resist anymore. Rachel jumped up off the couch, her breath coming in gasps as she pulled her panties off and stalked over to where Chris was sitting. Reaching down, she undid his belt, and he helped, his breathing as ragged as hers. He knew what she wanted, and he wanted it too.
Pulling his pants down to his knees, Rachel saw that he was just as excited as she was, so she straddled his lap and grasped his erect penis, guiding it inside her.
She moved up and down on his shaft slowly at first, as they kissed deeply, his hands on her hips urging her on.
Looking down at him, she smiled. Why had she been denying herself? She wanted him badly and rode him faster and faster until she reached her climax, threw back her head, and felt him cum at the same time.
Resting her hands on his shoulders, she raised her head and looked into his eyes. “This shouldn’t have happened,” she said, smiling at him. “But I’m sure glad it did.”
“What are we going to do for the rest of the two hours,” Chris murmured as he kissed her neck, sounding amused but pleased.
“I’m not sure,” she said as she moved to get off Chris’s lap. But his hands held her firmly against him, and he stood up with her legs around him.
Chris carried her over to the couch and sat her down, kneeling on the floor between her legs. Pushing up her skirt, he looked up at her and grinned. “I think I made a promise to someone that I would lick them really slowly, and I never break my promises.”
Chapter 10
Ten more minutes and the doors will open, Susan texted to Rachel’s phone.
Okay, we are here waiting, Rachel texted back then looked up at Chris. "We better get dressed," she said, jumping up off the couch and running around picking up the clothes strewn across the floor. “We have ten minutes.”
Chris sat up and stretched. “I can’t think of a better way of spending two hours in lock up," he said, smiling at her as he grabbed his underwear and pants.
Rachel had just put her shoes back on when the click indicated the door had been opened. Hesitating slightly, not wanting the spell to break, but knowing it had to, Rachel reached for the door handle.
“Rachel, wait,” Chris pleaded, reaching out to grab her arm.
“Please, don’t,” Rachel protested as she opened the door and walked out, heading blindly down the hall to the ladies' washroom. Once inside, she locked the stall door and let her tears fall. She knew why she was crying. She was crying because in those two hours that she and Chris had spent together, she had realized she was hopelessly in love with him, and she didn’t want to be. She couldn’t stand to have her heart broken again.
Hearing the door of the bathroom open slightly, she held her breath, not wanting anyone to hear her sobs or sniffles.
“Rachel?” Chris’s voice came from the other side of the door.
Rachel sat quietly in the stall, raising her feet slightly so he wouldn’t see them.
“Rachel, I know you’re in here. I saw you come in,” Chris said, entering the bathroom and closing the door. “We need to talk.”
“No, we don’t,” Rachel said, unlocking the stall and walking out to face him. “What happened shouldn’t have happened, and it’s not going to happen again, so stop pushing me.”
“I haven’t forced you to do anything,” Chris said, defending himself. “Remember, you were the one who tore your panties off – not me.”
“Yes, but you were the one saying things that made me want to,” Rachel said, leaning against the vanity.
Chris looked at her and shook his head. "Who hurt you so much that you are afraid to let yourself, love?"
Rachel looked at him and shook her head. “Why do you assume someone hurt me?”
“Well, mainly because you have said repeatedly that you can’t get hurt again,” Chris said exasperatedly. “Who forced you to build this wall around your heart?”
“No one,” Rachel said, looking at his reflection in the mirror. “I decided.”
“Bullshit,” Chris said. “Someone must have hurt you badly to make you feel the way you do.”
“I don’t want to talk about it − stop hanging around me, just leave me alone!” Rachel cried, pushing past him to get to the door.
Chris grabbed her by the arm. “Please, Rachel. I love you.”
“You what?” Rachel asked, stopped at the door, and gaping at him.
“I love you,” Chris said. “I have loved you since the first day I met you, and I want to love you until the day I die. I know you feel the same way.”
“I don’t,” Rachel said, keeping her face free from emotion, not wanting him to see how she was feeling. “If you love me, that’s your problem. I’m sorry, but I don’t share the same feelings. What happened in my office was merely two people who had a desire to fulfill, and we used each other. That’s it. No other emotions. Now, if you will please let go of my arm, I have to get back to work.”
Running down the hall, Rachel returned to her office to make sure there was no evidence of the activities that had just taken place.
“Everything okay?” Susan said from the doorway.
“Yeah, everything is just fine. I’m just going to check at the front desk to see how they are doing,” Rachel replied, feeling a bit flustered.
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine, honest” Rachel smiled at her friend.
The lobby was half full of guests waiting to check out and check-in, and with only one computer, it was a very slow process. Luckily Susan had made sure the guests had beverages and were made as comfortable as possible while they waited.

; Rachel walked past the young desk clerk at the computer and smiled.
“How is everything?” she asked, looking around the lobby.
“It’s actually going faster than I thought,” the clerk replied as she continued to click on the keyboard.
Rachel looked at everyone and smiled. “We really appreciate your patience. It seems we have been plagued with computer problems this week.”
“Okay. Listen,” Chris said, coming down the hall from Susan’s office. “You are going to listen to what I have to say.”
“Chris, this isn’t the place,” Rachel hissed at him.
“Damn right, it is the place because, with all these people around, you can’t run away from me,” Chris said, walking up to her and grabbing her hand. "I love you, Rachel Grist, and I am not like those two idiots who broke your heart.”
“How do you know about them?” Rachel asked, her voice trembling.
“I talked to Susan. She told me everything,” Chris said. “I don’t break promises, and I will never ever hurt you the way they did.”
Rachel looked at him, tears falling down her face. She wanted so much to be held safe in his arms and tell him exactly how she felt, but she couldn’t. “I-I-I can’t,” she sobbed, oblivious to the people around them.
The whole lobby was quiet, except for Rachel’s occasional sobs, as everyone stood watching the events unfold before them.
“Yes, you can,” Chris said, getting down on one knee in front of her. “I love you, Rachel, and I want you to be my wife. I know we haven’t known each other long at all, but I promise I will treat you like the queen you are, and I promise I will love you until the day I die. Will you marry me?”
Rachel stood looking down at the handsome face turned hopefully up at her. Her heart was pounding, and she felt like she was going to faint. Looking around at everyone standing watching her, she looked back down at Chris, her face softening.
Nodding her head slightly, she cried, “Yes, I love you, and yes, I will be your wife!”
The whole lobby broke into applause as guests whistled and shouted their congratulations to the couple.
Chris took Rachel into his arms and kissed her passionately before turning and leading Rachel back to her office amongst words of approval and continued applause.
“What made you change your mind?” Chris asked when they were safely away from the crowd.
“I figured any man who was brave enough to get down on one knee in front of all those people must definitely be someone who would never break a promise,” Rachel said, looking at him smiling widely. “I’ve loved you since the first day I met you, but I was too stubborn to admit it, even to myself.”
“I know I don’t have a ring, but we will go shopping for one first thing tomorrow,” Chris said, reaching out and holding her hands tightly.
Rachel smiled at him, looking deep into his eyes. “I don’t care about a ring or anything like that. I just don’t want any more broken promises. If you can promise me that, it’s all I need.”
Chris laid his palm on the side of her face, holding her gaze. “I promise.”
Epilogue
“I have a surprise for you,” Chris said to his wife as they got into the car.
“A surprise? What is it?” Rachel asked, raising her eyebrows at her husband. He knew she loved surprises.
“You’ll see. We’re going for a drive,” he said, backing out of the parking lot.
Rachel sat looking out the window as Chris drove through town and out into the country towards the lake district.
“Where are we going?” she asked again, although she knew he wouldn’t tell her.
Turning off the highway, Chris drove along a tree-lined road until he came to a clearing where they could see a house was being built.
“Whose house is this?” Rachel asked as she got out of the car. “Why did you bring me here?”
“This is our house,” Chris said
“What?” Rachel exclaimed, looking confused.
“Remember that night after our wedding, where we sat down and made a list of all the things you wanted in your dream home?” Chris said, holding out his hand for her to take.
Rachel nodded, looking up at the half-completed house.
“Well, I made a promise to you that night that I would make sure you got your dream home, and I don’t break my promises,” Chris led her up the makeshift ramp towards the front door.
Rachel could feel the tears forming in her eyes as she walked through the door and realized the house overlooked one of the larger lakes in the area.
“My water view!” Rachel cried.
“Yes, and over here is the kitchen where your large island is going to go, and that whole wall is going to be windows, just like you wanted.”
Rachel ran her hand over the wooden frame of her kitchen island and looked at her husband. “I love you so much.”
“I have one more surprise,” Chris said, holding out his hand again and bringing her out to the front of the house.
“Over there is where the swimming pool is going,” Chris pointed.
“My swimming pool?” Rachel cried. “Chris, I don’t know what to say.”
“Just say that you love me and that you’re happy,” Chris said, putting his arms around her.
“I am beyond happy, and yes, I love you so much,” Rachel said as tears streamed down her face. She had had her share of heartache, but those days were long gone.
Together they would live in their dream home and fill it which children, love, and happiness, with no more broken promises.
Breaking Boundaries: Book 6
Chapter 1
Fiona Roberts walked into the employee lounge and straight over to the coffee machine. She had woken up late and hadn’t had time for a coffee at home.
“I hate to tell you this, but the coffee machine is broken,” another employee that Fiona didn’t recognize said from the corner of the room.
“Shit. I really need a coffee,” Fiona grumbled. “Thanks for letting me know. Do you know if they called the maintenance guy yet?”
“Yea, they did. The big boss was in here earlier and put in the call. I haven’t had coffee yet either and was just about to head to the restaurant,” the girl said, standing up. “I’m Peggy Sanders.”
Fiona smiled at her and nodded. “I’m Fiona Roberts. I’ve seen you around but never had a chance to introduce myself. Did you just start?”
“Yep, this is my second week. I’m only working here part-time,” Peggy answered, picking up her purse. “I want to be an actress, but this will pay the bills until I get my big break.”
Just then, the Chiltern Hotel’s handyman Tim Jameson walked into the room, “I heard you girls broke the coffee machine,” he said cheerfully.
Fiona looked at him and smiled. “The only thing I have broken is your heart,” she said, giving Tim a flirtatious glance.
Tim winked at Fiona then glanced over at Peggy. “Hi, you must be new. Tim Jameson, I’m the one you call when things get broken.”
“Peggy Sanders. I’m working part-time in the laundry,” Peggy said, smiling warmly at Tim.
“Well, the Chiltern has always been known for hiring beautiful women, and you are no exception,” Tim said, holding out his hand.
“Oh, my,” Peggy gushed, turning a light color of pink and smiling as she shook Tim’s hand.
Unplugging the coffee machine, Tim picked it up to bring back to his workshop. “Let’s hope it’s nothing too serious. Nice chatting with you girls. Have a great day.”
“Always a pleasure Tim,” Fiona said as she watched him walk out the door.
“Wow, what a sweetie,” Peggy giggled. “He could park his boots under my bed anytime. Do you know if he’s taken?”
Fiona looked at her and smiled. “I’m not sure, to be honest. I don’t’ know much about him,” she picked up her purse. “Let’s go get that coffee before I’m late for work.”

“Thank you for staying at the C
hiltern Hotel,” Fiona said as she finished checking in a newly arrived guest. It had been a fairly hectic morning with lots of people coming and going, so Fiona was looking forward to her break when her phone buzzed. Checking it, she smiled and looked over at her co-worker. “I’m going to take a half-hour break. Will you be okay here alone?” she asked.
Her co-worker smiled and nodded as Fiona grabbed her purse and ran over to the stairway, quickly running up to the third floor. Scurrying down the corridor, she found room 325 and opened the door.
“I’ve got half an hour,” she gasped as she fell into Tim’s arms. “I’ve missed you!”
“I’ve missed you too. I just finished repairing the air conditioner in here, and I thought it would be a good opportunity for us, seeing as the room hasn’t been made up yet,” Tim said as he unbuttoned Fiona’s blouse.
“What if the maid comes in?” she asked as she felt her heartbeat a bit faster with excitement.
“I put a sign on the door,” he murmured, kissing the side of her neck as his hand slowly lifted up her skirt. “Mmmmm, I want you so bad.”
Fiona reached down and slowly rubbed the enormous bulge that had appeared in the front of his pants. “Hmm, and I want that so bad.”
Taking her hand, he led her over to the bed, turning her around so she could sit on the bed. “Take off your panties,” he whispered into her ear.
Fiona hiked up her skirt and pulled down the black lace panties she had put on that morning and kicked them to the side.
Tim pulled her towards him, so she was sitting right on the edge of the bed, then kneeled down in front of her.
“Oh, God, Tim. You really know how to get me going,” Fiona moaned as Tim kissed and licked his way up her thigh, spreading her legs as he kept going until his mouth found what he was yearning for.
Fiona lay back on the mattress, closing her eyes, enjoying how his lips and tongue felt as they moved against her skin and feeling the sensations build and build until she cried “Oh, God, Tim … I’m going to explode!”
