“Coffee and a cinnamon bun?” she said.
Wally brightened. “At the Human Bean?”
Ariane laughed. “At the Human Bean.”
“Sweet!”
Hand in hand, the Lady of the Lake and the heir of King Arthur turned their back on Wascana Lake and its hidden treasure, and went in search of caffeine and carbs.
The End
Acknowledgements
It’s been both a long and yet lightning-fast journey to the conclusion of The Shards of Excalibur. Song of the Sword came out just two years ago, yet here we are already at story’s end.
My first thanks must go to you, the readers, who have followed Ariane and Wally’s fantastical adventures from the beginning. I know you’re fond of these characters: I am, too, and hope I’ve done them justice.
Second, thanks to my excellent editor for the entire series, Matthew Hughes, himself a terrific science fiction and fantasy author: check him out at www.archonate.com.
Third, thanks to everyone at Coteau Books for your great work with design, publicity, and promotion, and especially your enthusiasm for Wally’s and Ariane’s adventures.
Last but never least, thanks to my wife, Margaret Anne, and daughter, Alice, for understanding that sometimes I live more in the worlds inside my head than the world outside. I love you both more than I can express in words…and I’m pretty good with words.
