by Rebecca Foxx

And she was. Standing uncertainly close to where one would rent a car, stood Celia, looking just as lovely as she ever had. In her hands was the briefcase that had brought her here, something that in truth he did not need in the slightest.

When her eyes fell upon him she opened her mouth in a silent question. She looked shocked, that was for sure, he just couldn’t tell whether it was in a good way or a bad way. That look terrified him but he refused to let that fear stop him. He moved towards her in something very close to a run, wanting badly take her up in his arms but instead settling for a gentle hand on her ever so slightly shaking shoulder.

“Blake? What are you doing here? I don’t understand. Is something wrong?”

“No, nothing is wrong. That couldn’t be further from the truth, actually. I’m her for you. This had all been for you.”

  “I don’t understand.”

“I know you don’t babe,” he said with a grin of excitement and anticipation, “not yet anyway. But you will. And I’m hoping that when you do it will make you happy. It’s about time I did something that made you feel good.”

  Chapter Five

In her wildest dreams, Celia could never have anticipated that her husband would do a thing like this. It was so sad for her to think, but she mostly expected him to do things that made her angry or unhappy, or probably both.

It had been a long time since she had ever even considered him sweeping her off of her feet and she was still having trouble believing that this was really happening at all. Everything was going so quickly!

After meeting her at the airport Blake had ushered her out of the airport and into a sleek town car, which whisked the two of them off and towards the heart of LA, a city she had always wanted to see but had long ago decided she would never get to visit. Everything was so big, so flashy, and she couldn’t help but let out a little laugh of delight.

She couldn’t remember the last time she had had a real, genuine surprise. She was still so hurt by all of the years of damage unspoken of between her and the man she loved. But somehow the fact that it had even occurred to him to try and do something for her, something just for her and at the detriment to his job, it made her feel closer to him than she had in years.

Even if only for this little window, she was willing to give him another chance. As he led her to what was definitely the nicest restaurant she had ever been to, she watched him closely, listening to how easy and unpretentious his voice sounded.

There was none of that high powered business man in him, just the slightly goofy and incredibly sexy man she fell in love with. At the art show after the meal she allowed him to caress the small of her back without flinching once. They were engaged in a subtle flirtation that she found beyond exhilarating simply because she had so recently believed that they were past the point of being able to do that with each other.

Aside from those rare occasions when he caught her off guard and half awake, she had thought these feelings for him were long gone. She had never expected to feel her skin tingle beneath his fingers in anticipation of what was to come when they were alone. But as the evening progressed and they found themselves back in the car, she could hardly breathe she was so nervous.

Even the smell of him sitting so close to her that she could feel the phantom starched fabric of his expensive suit grazing her upper thigh. Her heart was beating like a hummingbird in her chest as the glossy city flew past the tinted windows of the car and by the time they arrived in the lobby of the swanky hotel they would be staying in for the next three days she could hardly stand it. She wanted him.

She wanted him more than she had when they had been the earliest part of their relationship, the part where they were young and impulsive and hadn’t been able to keep their hands off of each other. It made her feel reckless and unlike herself in the most delicious way. It had been a long, long time since she had felt that way about anyone or anything and she wasn’t sure what to do with herself. Things only got more intense as Blake let them into their penthouse room and strode into the middle of the room with a laugh.

“Babe, what do you think? This look alright for a couple of days?”

“Does it look alright? Blake, this is hands down the most amazing place I’ve ever been. It’s like we’re getting another chance at our honeymoon. Do you remember that awful little place we staid in?”

“Aw, come on, it wasn’t that bad, was it?”

“Seriously? Babe, it was the worst! When I tried to take a bath the water came out brown and you got into a fight with the crazy couple staying down the hall from us over a bag of stale chips out of the vending machine.”

“Oh christ, that was awful! I completely forgot about those two. It wasn’t all bad though, right?”

“No,” Celia said with a soft smile, “it wasn’t all bad. It wasn’t bad at all, actually. It was kind of perfect, now that I think about it.”

“Also, can I ask you something?”

  “Of course.”

  “Did you call me babe?”

  “What?”

“Just a second ago. Did you call me babe?”

“Huh,” she said with genuine surprise, “I guess I did.”

“You haven’t called me that in a long time, you know that? I liked it. It felt a little bit like old times.”

He was walking towards her slowly and she wasn’t backing away. Far from it. She wanted to tell him to move faster, to put his hands on her in a way he hadn’t done in years.

“I know. It was good. It was really good. I missed you. I’ve missed you, Blake. Don’t you know that? I just wanted you back.”

  “I’ve been here.”

“No, you haven’t. Not really. It’s all been about the job. I thought I could do it. I thought I could handle being a work widow but I can’t. And I know that I’m totally spoiling the mood and I don’t want to do that but I also can’t just say nothing.”

“Celia. It’s ok. You don’t need to say anything.”

  “But it’s not ok.”

“No, I don’t think you understand. It’s ok because you don’t have to do that anymore. You don’t have to be a work widow. I quit my job.”

  “You what?”

“I quit my job. Is that ok? God, I hope that’s ok.”

Celia knew she wouldn’t be able to speak without crying and so she elected not to say anything at all. Instead she closed the gap between them, wrapping her arms around him and pressing her lips up against him. Her hands moved up into his thick hair, over the slight scruff that was building up on his face.

The way her body responded to his was incredible, like a million tiny fireworks going off on the surface of her skin all at the same time. After such a long time being dormant, she was alive again and when she felt Blake’s hands pulling urgently on the hem of her dress, sliding up her thighs and making her legs quiver, she could already feel the beginning of an impending orgasm more explosive than any she had ever experienced before.

“Off, you’ve got to take this off or it’s going to kill me, CeCe.”

“Kill you? Don’t you think that’s just a little bit dramatic?”

“Nope. Not even a little bit. Now, off. Please.”

Celia laughed breathlessly and happily complied. Beneath her slinky dress she wore the smallest possible lingerie, the exact sort of thing Blake went totally nuts for. Right on cue, he let out a groan of desire that gave her goosebumps all over her body. His hands slid across her ribcage, his fingers slipping seductively past the band of her slinky little panties, pulling them down with what appeared to be the smallest flick of his wrist.

They fell to the floor and she felt her breathing speed up and she stepped dutifully away from them. Next was the bra, the clasp of which he undid easily with one hand.

“My god, Blake, it’s like you’re a pro.”

“It’s not my first time,” he said with a grin. He pulled her now entirely naked body in towards him with one arm and began unbuttoning his shirt with his free hand.
/>   As far as she was concerned, he couldn’t get his clothes off fast enough. As he worked on the shirt she unclasped his belt with expert precision, kissing along the inside of his neck as she did so.

“What you doing down there, little lady?”

“Oh nothing, just trying to take care of a couple of things.”

  “Take care of them?”

“Absolutely. Now step out of the pants, please.”

He grinned and happily complied, moving so quickly he almost fell right over. She leaned into him, pressing her body against his suggestively and reveling in the feeling of his long, thick member beginning to lengthen against her hip. She ran her fingers along his defined abs, down the v line she had loved since before they were married.

She felt his pulsing erection jump beneath her light touch and smiled, getting up on her tiptoes in order to kiss him more fully. She felt the roughness of his tongue parting her lips insistently, felt his heart pounding practically out of his chest. She knew that neither one of them was going to be able to hold out for much longer, and she was absolutely correct. Just a moment after the thought crossed her mind she felt his strong arms snake around her body and lift her up into the air as if she weighed nothing at all.

She let out a squeal of delight and wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling his hair lightly enough to just barely hurt as he carried her to the massive bed of their opulent room. He draped her over the side, propping her hips up with his strong thighs as he ran his hands teasingly along the inside of her trembling thighs.

His perfect fingers moved closer and closer to the part of her that was most desperate to feel his touch until finally, finally, they were moving with expert knowledge over her clit. Her body responded immediately, her back arching and her eyes snapping shut. It was as if she had not been touched in a century, never in her whole life.

Even the slightest movement of Blake’s sure hands sent her closer and closer to the edge, so quickly that she was completely astounded. Normally it took her a while to get truly aroused but this was only a matter of minutes before she saw stars pepper the backs of her closed lids.

“Oh my god! Oh god, Blake, your hands feel so good!”

“You like that? Tell me what you want. I’ll do anything you want, babe. Anything.”

“I want to feel you inside me.”

Had she had a moment to think, she would be beyond embarrassed for words like that to have come out of her mouth, but in this instance she didn’t have time to be flustered. She meant those words. She had never wanted anything more than to feel his length sliding inside of her, filling her up completely.

She felt like she would die if she didn’t feel that soon. She could not wait another moment, and fortunately she didn’t have to. His massive hands grabbed her by the hips to steady her, and then he was guiding himself inside of her, watching her face all the while. All she could do to encourage him was say yes.

Yes, a thousand times yes, she had never felt anything so delicious as his body pumping inside of hers. His strokes began slowly at first, his fingers still playing with the slit between her legs and pushing he ever closer back to the brink of pleasure’s oblivion. She wanted it this way, hard and fast, and her body arched back up off of the bed, her pelvis grinding more insistently against his. She matched every movement of his hips with her own until they were both consumed by pleasure and covered in sweat.

Then, faster than she could ever have believed, she was back, teetering on the edge of her orgasm. Blake was relentless, never letting up for even a moment. He knew her body so well, knew that she was going to come again, and he moved her closer and closer in that direction until her body exploded, shaking uncontrollably with the force of her pleasure.

Her ears began to ring, almost like a soundtrack to accompany their action, and through that haze she heard Blake begin to cry out at the same time as his movements became more and more erratic. He was joining her, both of them locked in their perfect pleasure together for what could have been minutes or days. It was impossible to tell.

They staid locked together that way for a long while until finally Blake flopped down on the bed beside her, sliding his arm beneath her and pulling her into his chest.

“God, I’ve missed you, you know that? I really have, Celia.”

“I know, me too. I love you Blake. I do, completely.”

“You do? Thank god. I thought I had lost you.”

“Nope, not now, not ever. We belong together. Don’t you forget it.”

  One Flesh

  Chapter One

  “I don’t know, Moira. I just don’t know. I don’t think so.”

“You don’t? Really, Kayla? Are you sure? You need to really look deep down inside and ask yourself if this is something he could have done. I mean if there is any possibility at all?”

Even across the thousands of miles that separated them and the less than ideal phone connection, Kayla Bends could hear the suspicion and disbelief in her sister’s voice. It was a tone she had become painfully familiar with, a tone she heard from multiple people every day.

Complete strangers would come up to her and either express their sympathy for her being married to such a horrible man or tell her off, yelling at her for aligning herself with a crook and a fraud.

As if she would ever have married him if even the smallest part of her believed that a thing like that could true. She had known him since she was nineteen, almost sixteen years now, and the idea that he could be anything but forthright had never crossed her mind.

True, Michael had always been a charismatic man, always been just a little bit over the top and gregarious and some might even say arrogant. But none of those things made him a criminal, did they? They were characteristics that helped him to get a good job in finance right out of college, something the two of them had been absolutely elated about. He had proposed to her shortly after, convinced that his meager starting salary had made them rich. He hadn’t had any idea what it was to be rich, at least not yet.

But as the years passed he soared up through the ranks of his company, bringing in amounts of money the two of them had never even dreamed about. Life had seemed like a fairytale, right up until the morning when her darling husband had been cuffed and hauled off for suspected corporate fraud.

And now, here was her sister, practically demanding that she believed he was guilty. It was the stance that all of her family had taken and it made it beyond difficult for her to make it through her days. How was a person supposed to keep their faith when everyone around her was saying that faith was misguided? Was she really the only one that believed her husband’s innocence?

“Kayla? Kayla, are you listening to me?”

  “Yes, Moira, I’m listening.”

“Ok, but are you actually hearing me?”

“I don’t know,” she said with a tired sigh, “what does that even mean?”

“It means, have you considered that he might have actually done this thing? There is a whole lot of evidence, you know. That sort of thing doesn’t just happen. It doesn’t just come from nowhere. There’s a reason he was arrested and maybe it’s about time you start looking at what that reason is.”

“So are you telling me that nobody has ever been falsely accused of a crime? You think nobody has ever been wrongly arrested or even thrown in prison?”

“I think it’s unlikely. I think most of the time when people get charged with a crime, they’re the ones who committed them. I’m just asking you to really give the situation an honest look. You have to take care of yourself, don’t you? And if that means cutting that man loose, well then so be it. You’ve got to do what’s right for you.”

“Sure, and just forget that whole ‘til death do us part’ thing, right?”

  “Kayla-”

“No. I’m sorry, Moira, but n
o. I don’t have time for this right now. I have to leave for the court. Michael’s lawyer called right before you and said that there is a good chance the jury is going to come back with a verdict within the next few hours. I’m going to be there when it’s delivered. Everyone else may have given up on him, but I haven’t. I’m going to support my husband, the same way I would want him to support me.”

Kayla didn’t wait for her sister’s response, instead hanging up her phone angrily. Times like these made her wish she still had a landline, if for nothing else so that she could get the satisfactory “bang!” of slamming a phone down in someone’s ear. It just wasn’t the same with a cellphone.
