Amy closed her eyes and lowered herself to the couch, looking up only after Nate hit a fist against a wall. “I don’t understand.”
“He was with a woman,” Nate fumed. “He was getting off the entire time he was talking to us.”
“He must have cameras inside the apartment.” Kyle walked over and sat beside Amy. “He’s right, you know. The night shirt has to go.”
Amy nodded, numb from hearing the voice again. Standing, she glanced down at Kyle. “We need to talk.”
Kyle glanced at Nate before nodding. “Okay.”
“Not in here. If he has some way of seeing us, he probably has a way of hearing.” Amy frowned and tugged down at her shirt.
Nate had watched them and then smiled. “Umm, Kyle. Help me for a sec before you go.” Nate walked into the kitchen and opened the pantry door. “On the other side,” Nate motioned to the area beside him and reached into his back pocket taking out several wrapped packages.
Kyle looked at him puzzled. “What are you doing?”
“Don’t ask, just take them.” Nate placed the packages on a shelf. “I don’t think there’s going to be much talking. I told you not to ask. This is between you and Amy. I’m going to look around the apartment and search for cameras. I think it’s time you went to Amy.”
Kyle grabbed the foil packages and shoved them in his pocket. “I think that you’re wrong.”
“Not this time,” Nate grinned. He watched Kyle leave the kitchen and smiled, thinking of the camera before holding up his middle finger.
Kyle walked into Amy’s bedroom and noticed that she had thrown a few of her extra blankets over her furniture and was sitting on her bed acting nervous. “Amy, what is going through that head of yours?”
“I’ve been thinking about a lot of things, Kyle. I’ve realized that my feelings for you are on the up and up.”
“And that would mean?”
“I’m not ready to say that yet.” Amy watched him step towards her. “I want. . .” She didn’t finish until after he sat down on the bed beside her, and she angled so that she could see him. “I want you, but I’m not sure how to show that.”
Kyle cupped her face and smiled. “You’re not just saying this because you think. . .”
“That one of us might not be around tomorrow and will regret not doing anything about this? It crossed my mind, but then I realized that I had this thought when you spent the night before the phone call.”
Kyle studied her eyes and nodded. “What exactly is this?”
Amy pulled her towards him and whispered, “Kiss me.” She sighed when he claimed her mouth, responding with a range of emotions she had just allowed to surface when their tongues started dancing, and Kyle lifted her to his lap. Opening her eyes when Kyle broke the kiss, she smiled at him. “I’m sure, Kyle.”
She moaned while he traveled kisses down her throat, slowly undoing the buttons on her shirt until he cupped her breasts. She heard herself moan when his mouth traveled downward in slow trail of kisses until he took one in his mouth. Closing her eyes at the new sensation he created while the stubble on his face scratched her sensitive skin, she ran a hand through his hair not sure of what she was doing while he laved another trail of kisses down her stomach and lifting her up before rolling them on top of the covers.
Feeling his hand tug on her panties, Amy opened her eyes to see him staring at her while slowly pulling them down and tracing her legs. She reached for his shirt and played with the buttons while he studied her. She placed a hand on his well-defined chest before she felt his fingers teasing her and breathed in sharply at the shock before he claimed her mouth again. The kiss was with an urgency that she returned while he continued with his fingers, and Amy started to feel a pressure mount.
“Let it go,” Kyle whispered while increasing the speed of the teasing. “You can do it.” He continued to tease, watching her before inching down her body to take her in his mouth, lifting her so he could watch her eyes when she would no longer be able to fight her release.
She moaned and opened her eyes, only to shut them again after Kyle started again, this time using both his mouth and fingers to take her higher while continuing to watch the next orgasm rip through her. Smiling, he moved to finish taking off his shirt and then laid beside her.
“You’re beautiful, Amy.” He watched while she turned over and placed a hand on his bare chest before he reached underneath her and massaged her breast. “I want you.” He inhaled when he felt her hand travel to the top of his slacks and fiddle with the buckle of his belt. “You’re really sure.”
Amy nodded before Kyle stood, finished undoing the belt and unsnapped his pants, pulling them down after grabbing one of the packets from the pocket. He watched Amy studying him before stretching out beside her again, moaning when she touched him.
Shaking his head, he turned her over on her back and started the trail all over again before teasing her with a quickness that she hadn’t expected and watching the orgasm rip through her before dropping his briefs and kicking them off, ripping into the tin package with his mouth while teasing her with his hands. Lifting her, he kissed her throat and chuckled when she squirmed against him. Laying her flat on the bed again, he lifted her legs and traced her thighs before sliding in her.
Amy moaned before grabbing the blanket she was on, gripping it while Kyle slowly moved in and out, teasing her while he sucked on her nipples. Slowing her movements with his hand when he felt her need for release.
He didn’t want to hurt her and watched her face while picking up his speed, reveling in her climax and watching her eyes for the next wave while slowing himself and using his fingers to help. Moaning, he lowered himself knowing that he wouldn’t be able to last much longer and sped up while Amy clung to him, relieved when they both came at the same time.
Amy opened her eyes and smiled at him when he propped on his elbows. “I’m sure,” she laughed before he kissed her and rolled to the side, placing an arm over her before she dozed off in a relaxed state that he hadn’t seen before then.
He rolled out of the bed and dressed, covering her with a blanket that had managed to find the floor from where it had been folded on top of the bed. Smiling, he bent down and kissed her forehead before walking to the bedroom door and leaving her.
Kyle glanced at Nate puzzled, but remained silent in case they could be heard as well as seen.
Nate pointed to a paper he had scribbled on not wanting to ask how things went. He didn’t have to ask after noticing the way his friend was walking. “Amy?”
“Sleeping,” Kyle whispered. “Have you heard from Elaine?”
“She stopped by during her lunch hour. Can’t say that she didn’t hear what was happening.” Nate chuckled. “How long do you think she’ll sleep?”
Kyle felt his pocket for his phone and frowned. “She’s pretty tired. Damn, I left my phone in her room.”
“Well, go get it, stud.” Nate laughed at him until he saw Amy dressed and standing in the hallway holding a phone in her hand and looking pale. “Or not. Amy?”
She handed the phone to Kyle after he walked to her. “It’s for you.” Leaning against the wall, she watched Kyle stare at the phone before he placed it on speaker.
He snapped into the phone before guiding Amy to the couch and lowered her so that she was sitting.
“How was she, Kyle?” The voice asked in a snide voice. “Sounded like a freaking orgy. You should remember that, because you won’t be around for another round. I told you. Amy is mine. I can’t wait to make my acquaintance with her.”
Amy lowered her head while she listened.
“Listen, you coward,” Kyle snapped after watching Amy, “you better make sure that I’m dead, because I’ll kill you if so much as threaten her again. Why don’t you show yourself? It’s not going to be long before they can trace your sorry ass.”
“I know my way around their systems. They’ll never find me. I’ll find you because you indulged in what is mine.”
&
nbsp; Kyle glared at the phone before he sat beside Amy and lifted her face so that he could see what she was thinking.
“I’m sorry,” Amy didn’t hide the tears that were flowing easily down her cheeks.
Kyle wiped the tears away with the edges of his finger. “I’m not, Amy. I’ll never regret loving you or making love to you.” He pulled him to her.
“I love you, Kyle.” She whispered the words in his ears before pulling out of the hug. “He can hear us?” Amy asked after she stood. “Can he?”
“Yes, I think that we’ve learned that already.” Nate stared at her dumbfounded when he saw the anger in her eyes. “Amy, whatever you want to say to him- don’t.”
“No, Nate. I’m going to say it.” Amy frowned when her brother pulled her into the kitchen. “Dang it, Nate. I’m ready for this to end.”
“Knock it off, sis. Don’t you see that he wants you to talk to him? He wants you to bait him.”
“He wants to kill Kyle.” Amy pointed out. “And then he wants me. I don’t want him to have either of us.”
“You’re not going to bait him.”
“Why not? Enough is enough, Nate. I thought that if I relaxed, then I would be able to get through this, but. . .” Amy inhaled sharply when her brother grabbed her hand and gripped it.
“I’ve failed you before, Amy, I’ll be damned if it happens again. Do you want to know why I’m saying that?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Because if it happens, I’ll murder the son of a bitch,” Nate stared at her and then smiled. “The only person that touches you is the person that you want to touch you. That person will live.”
Amy raised her eyes before glancing over to where Kyle was sitting and looking at her sketchbook. “Nate, I was selfish. I shouldn’t have given in to those stupid feelings.”
“No, you should always give in to your stupid feelings. You’re worried about Kyle, and I’m betting that he would tell you not to worry. All he wants is for you to get a decent night’s sleep. He’s loved you for a while now.”
Amy sighed and turned so that she was looking at Kyle, placing a hand over her eyes so that she wouldn’t cry. “I didn’t know that he could hear us. I covered everything with heavy blankets because you said that cameras were a possibility. Somebody was in this apartment. But when?”
“I don’t know, Amy, but that’s a really good question.” Nate grabbed the paper that he had in his back pocket and his pen. “The only way I would know is if he had been one of the movers. The day you were to move, I hired a group of guys to move the furniture from storage here. I told them where to put your bed and everything.”
Kyle glanced up from the sketch book. “I still can’t believe that you tried to pay me for helping. Everybody that played basketball with us helped move your belongings.”
Nate stared at Kyle while he thought about it. “If that’s the case,” Nate walked towards the room where Elaine was occupying and looked around before motioning for Kyle and Amy. He closed the door and spoke to them. “What do we know about our friends?”
“What?”
“If it was one of us, they wouldn’t have put anything in here because Amy wouldn’t be occupying the room. His sight was focused on her. This room will be camera free and can explain why what I talked about with Elaine hasn’t been mentioned. So,” he watched Kyle hold Amy’s hand and smiled, “this is the room where we will discuss what is going on concerning Amy. I’m not sure who she has met except for Bob.”
Kyle narrowed his eyes and thought about the sketches. “Why did you draw the game of basketball? There was something bugging you.”
“I’m not sure what you are asking.”
“Everything was black and white except for the sport bags.” Kyle released her hand and started pacing. “Amy, do you remember?”
“I just didn’t finish it yet.” Amy answered walking over to Elaine’s bed and sitting on the edge. “Why would I focus on the game?”
“Maybe it wasn’t the game,” Nate answered. “It could be something that was at the court. I see where you’re going with this, Kyle. Amy, think.”
“I can’t think,” Amy snapped before looking at them. “I’m tired of thinking.”
Kyle walked over to the bed and sat beside her. “Amy, I don’t want to go home and wonder if I’m going to be able to see you the next day or the next. I do, however, want this to disappear as much as you do. Maybe more because I’ve already imagined what our life will be like. I’m being selfish because I want you to see it. I want you to fight for us.”
Nate smirked before he stepped out of the room, glancing up after he thought he saw something flash from the wall. Of course, after he turned on the light, it reflected in the lens from a tiny camera. “Gotcha,” Nate walked to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator after glancing at the clock.
Amy tried to smile after her brother left, and Kyle took her hands. “I’m still scared.”
“It’s okay to be scared, but I need for you to fight this, Amy. You need to fight it for yourself.”
Amy nodded, closing her eyes while she remembered that morning. “I want to fight,” she smiled before kissing Kyle, igniting a fire within which she was learning to appreciate. “I want more.”
“More what?” Kyle asked while watching the want form in her eyes. “Why, Amy, you’re starting to surprise me. I’ll spend the night with you.”
“The room is. . .”
“I know.” Kyle cupped her face with his hands. “I need to go the restaurant, but I promise that I’ll be very careful, and I’ll come back right after I grab some clean clothes.” He watched the want switch to panic and shook his head. “I never break a promise, Amy.” Standing, he pulled her up with him. “I want you to play it safe. Maybe draw some more so we can figure out what you’ve subconsciously seen.”
“I’ve seen it?”
“You’ve seen something that you’re wrestling with, Amy.” Kyle kissed her again before glancing at his phone. “I’ll be back in a few hours.”
Amy followed him out of the room and watched him leave before turning to Nate angrily. “It’s not alright if I am used as bait, but Kyle can do it without hearing one of your objections.”
“It’s part of a plan, Amy.” He wrote on the paper without talking. “If this scumbag is following Kyle then I can remove the cameras without being seen.”
Amy glowered at him before walking over to the sofa and sitting. “And what am I supposed to do?” She asked barely noticing the sketchpad which Kyle had left turned to the page he had asked about in Elaine’s room.
“I think, dear sis, you’ve pretty much decided to pout. Elaine will be expecting something different when she comes home.”
Amy stared at the clock and nodded. “I guess she’s going to be disappointed.”
“I don’t think so. Elaine has good eyes, a good insight.” Nate walked over to his sister, picked up her sketchpad, glanced at the picture, and placed the paper he was writing on over it before whispering. “Elaine will be able to find the camera in your room.”
“He invaded my privacy,” Amy snapped. “It wasn’t about him, but he listened to me. To Kyle. It’s disgusting.”
“I agree, but we’re getting close, Amy. So close that I can see my hands wrapped around his throat.” Nate stood and watched Amy focus on the sketch. “You shouldn’t be going through this; I’m sorry.”
“Kyle promised me that he’d be back.”
“I’ve never known him to break a promise before now, and I’m not seeing why he won’t keep the one he gave you.” Nate turned away after seeing the dampness in his sister’s eyes. He knew that if he saw her break down, it would weaken him. He pivoted after hearing a key being inserted into the door and stepped closer before seeing Elaine walk in.
Elaine raised her eyes after seeing Nate reaching for the baseball bat he had brought to Amy’s apartment. Shaking her head, she kissed him hard on the mouth before turning to look at Amy. She was about to say something when
Nate placed a finger on her mouth.
Amy glanced up and sighed before standing and walking down the hall to her room where she closed the door and sat on the bed staring blankly at the wall.

Elaine scowled after Nate had guided her to her bedroom and shut the door. “This isn’t the time to get fresh, Nate.”
“I agree.” Nate smirked. “We’ve discovered something after you left. This is the only room that doesn’t have a camera equipped with a microphone. We can talk here.”
“Okay?”
“There’s a camera in the living room. It’s small enough that one wouldn’t see it. I almost didn’t. I knew that he had visual.” Nate admitted while talking quickly. “Amy had covered everything in her room before Kyle went in there, but the creep could still hear them.”
Elaine placed a hand over her mouth. “So a very private movement was being listened to by that sicko?”
“I’m afraid so, Elaine. Kyle went to the restaurant hoping to lure this creep away from his monitors. I need you to go in Amy’s room and look around to see if you can find the one there. You have sharper eyes than I do.” Nate walked to the door. “I’m waiting to hear from Kyle so I can remove the one in the living room.”
“And if you don’t hear from him?”
Nate blinked his eyes. “I don’t want to think about that. I couldn’t take how upset Amy will be because something happens.”
“You know that your sister is in love with him.”
“Yes, Elaine, I do, but this was his idea. He wants it to end, and I don’t blame him one bit. If it makes you feel any better, I think that Amy told him.” Nate stepped into the hall and noticed the bag Elaine had left at door. Peeking in, he noticed that it was a phone and grabbed it at the same time Kyle sent him a text message stating that someone had delivered another profile page right after he had stepped inside the restaurant.
Nate stared at the camera on the wall and grabbed a chair so that he could reach it. It came off easy enough, and Nate held it tight in his hand, turning towards the back door to see that Elaine was stepping out of Amy’s room. He tossed the camera down on the floor and stepped down, grinding his heel and listening to it break. “Find it?” he asked after glancing up at her.
