  CHAPTER 1 - PATRICK

“WAIT JUST A moment.” Tyler spun around, hands on his hip, and raised an eyebrow at Patrick. “You’re telling me you got a job where?”

Patrick froze. “I got a job at Harrison and Maddox?” He said hesitantly, not exactly sure why his friend was reacting the way that he was. “Is there something wrong with them?”

Patrick had applied to the law firm almost on a whim, the location was convenient to his apartment and the pay way better than any of the other personal assistant jobs he had seen. He knew that getting a job was never usually so easy, yet the day after his interview he had been called to learn that he had gotten the job. He needed the money, so he hadn’t been about to question it.

Maybe he should have asked Tyler about the firm before he had applied. It had been exam season and Patrick hadn’t wanted to distract the other omega, but Tyler was studying to be a lawyer and could have told Patrick if the place was less than reputable.

Tyler collapsed onto the couch dramatically and looked up at Patrick through his long lashes with an exasperated expression on his face. “It’s only the most prestigious law firm in the entire state.” He signed and looked forlornly up at the ceiling. “You have no idea how jealous I am.”

Patrick snorted. “I’m just going to be a PA.” He reminded Tyler. “It’s really not that big of a deal.” Sure it payed pretty well, but he was just going to be working for one of the associates, it wasn’t like he was going to be working for the CEO of a big company or anything.

Tyler sat up with an indignant expression on his face. “Of course it’s a big deal.” The other omega huffed. “They only hire the best of the best.”

Patrick let his lips quirk upwards in a slight grin. It still didn’t seem like a big deal to him, but Tyler obviously thought it was something special. The gleam in Tyler’s eye was beginning to make Patrick nervous though.

They had been friends since the first day of undergrad, Patrick knew Tyler well enough that he knew what that expression meant, and it never meant anything good. Patrick also knew himself well enough to know that he would go along with any of Tylers scatterbrained schemes.

“We should go out tonight.” Tyler smirked and gestured to Patrick. “We need to get you back out on the town, this kind of news deserves a celebration.”

Patrick couldn’t help the groan the escaped his lips. “You know I don’t want another relationship, not right now.”

After Patrick had broken up with his long term boyfriend over a year ago, he had been more than content to enjoy his single lifestyle despite Tyler’s apparent commitment to setting him up with someone. He really just wanted to adjust the work force and life after college graduation without having to worry about maintaining a relationship.

“Who said anything about a relationship?” Tyler quirked an eyebrow at Patrick and his smirk spread even wider. “Come on. We can go out, have a few drinks, dance a little, and you can find a nice alpha to go home with.”

“Tyler…” Patrick began, exasperation seeping into his tone. Really all he wanted was to stay at home, enjoy a nice glass of wine, and go to sleep early.

“Patrick…” Tyler said, and waggled his eyebrows. “You know you’ll have fun once you actually get out of the house.”

Patrick sighed. There really was no use arguing, and he would actually have a good time once he managed to actually get to the club, or the bar, or what ever somewhat sketchy establishment Tyler had settled on for the night. “Fine, I’ll go.” Patrick made sure that the humor in his tome was evident.

“Awesome!” Tyler jumped up and turned to Patrick. “Now let’s get you all dressed up.” The gleam in his eye was back and Patrick gulped.

Oh great. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all.

  —

By the time they actually made it out the door, the sun had long since set and the street lights were illuminating the street, bathing it in a warm yellow glow.

Patrick’s apartment was in the heart of the city, and on any given night he never had to walk far to get to a restaurant, a bar, or a club. He rarely took advantage of that closeness as he vastly preferred a quiet night in, but he had to admit that sometimes it was nice.

For all his enthusiasm, Tyler really didn’t go out much either, but it was still a bit more of his scene than Patrick’s.

Patrick had actually managed to leave his bedroom with his sanity and modesty intact, even after Tyler’s ‘makeover’.

He had somehow managed to convince Tyler to let him wear his normal, fitted, jeans and a black t-shirt that was just this side of too snug. Patrick had not managed to escape the glittery something that Tyler had swiped across his cheeks, but even he had to admit that he looked good.

The other omega, with his own skin tight jeans and practically painted on v-neck, had grumbled, but let Patrick do what he wanted. It was supposed to be Patrick’s night out after all.

The club that they ended up at was also on the milder end of Tyler’s taste. The bass thrummed through Patrick’s body, but it wasn’t so powerful as to be overwhelming, and there seemed to be an equal amount of patrons gathered around small tables as there were out on the dance floor.

“Well,” Tyler said, that familiar gleam in his eye once they walked through the door. “Let’s go.”

Patrick rolled his eyes good naturally but let himself be dragged out onto the dance floor after Tyler.

Dancing with Tyler was fun and mindless. He knew that they looked like quite the pair, two omegas pressed up against each other, obviously aware of the eyes that were on them. Patrick was a bit taller, a bit more muscular than the average omega, whereas Tyler was perfectly slim and lean, with his cocky smirk and his impeccably styled hair and he looked like a living picture of omega vitality.

It was fun to let loose and goof off with his best friend, but Patrick found that he liked the attention from the onlookers, he liked feeling attractive and wanted.

“That alpha has been eyeing you up all night.” Tyler muttered in Patrick’s ear, and Patrick grinned.

  “Which one?”

Tyler rolled his eyes. “The one to your right. Tall, brown haired, muscular, in the blue button down. I know very well that he’s exactly your type.”

Patrick shifted slightly to the right, and he couldn’t help the sharp intake of breath as he caught sight of the men that Tyler was talking about.

The alpha was tall and broad, his muscle filling out the tight fitting button down that didn’t leave anything to Patrick’s imagination. His short, brown, hair was impeccably styled, and his eyes, his deep brown eyes were looking right at Patrick.

“Shit.” Patrick muttered and looked away immediately.

“What?” Tyler pulled back and looked worryingly at Patrick. “Is everything okay?”

“He’s looking right at me.” Patrick grimaced. “We made eye contact.”

Tyler groaned. “I think that’s a good thing Patty.”

“I don’t know…” Patrick muttered. He wanted to go home with someone and have a night of good, anonymous fun, but the intensity with which he wanted the alpha surprised him. Something in th
e intensity alpha’s eyes sparked a feeling deep within Patrick. The attraction he felt just from that one look was astounding.

“Come on.” Tyler said. “You should…”

Tyler’s voice cut off and Patrick turned around to see the alpha standing right behind him. He gulped. He should say something, he needed to say something, but in that particular moment his mouth was dry and his brain suddenly felt devoid of any intelligent thought.

Patrick was tall for an omega and it was something that he often felt insecure about. Not too many alphas were fond of an omega that were as tall as, if not taller, then them.

That would apparently not be a problem with this alpha.

He had looked big sitting over at one of the many tables that lined the dance floor, but actually standing next to Patrick...

Well, Patrick had to look up to meet the alpha’s eyes. The broad expanse of his shoulders and the obvious muscle beneath his shirt made Patrick’s mouth water. Patrick could just imagine it now, being covered and surrounded, being made to feel small by this alpha.

What he wouldn’t do to get his hands on this gorgeous alpha.

The music changed to something slower and the alpha grinned at Patrick, holding out a hand. “May I have this dance?”

Oh. There was nothing that Patrick wanted to do more in that moment, but he felt like he couldn’t move, he couldn’t speak. Suddenly Tyler gave him a little shove that snapped him out of his thoughts.

“Go on.” Tyler hissed, and shoved at Patrick gently.

Patrick stumbled slightly and the alpha put a gentle hand on his shoulder to steady him. A shiver ran through him. The grip was warm and firm, and the alpha’s hand was large.

Patrick could imagine plenty of other things that that large hand could be doing, and he felt himself flush as he reached out to take the other man’s hand. “Okay, let’s go.” He said and put on his most dazzling smile. Although his heart was beating a mile a minute, it came out sounding more confident than he actually felt.

The alpha’s hand was warm and smooth in Patrick’s own, and he let himself be lead further onto the dance floor. It felt like second nature to sway along to the music as the alpha put both of his hands on Patrick’s hips and pulled him in close. The alpha’s chest felt broad and muscular, and all Patrick wanted to do was get his shirt off and see for himself.

He shook his head. No, he couldn’t get ahead of himself. They were just dancing, at least for now. There was no guarantee that the alpha even wanted Patrick like that.

Patrick swore that he could feel the heat of the man’s skin even through the layer of cloth that separated them, and he knew that his face must look like a tomato right now with the flush that was undoubtedly coloring his cheeks and going all the way down his neck.

“I’m Nathan, by the way.” The alpha said, and the rough bass of his voice made Patrick’s knees feel weak.

“Patrick.” Patrick replied breathily. The warm press of Nathan’s body on his own was making Patrick’s brain short circuit and he wasn’t sure that he could successfully string more than a few words together.

“So what brings you here tonight Patrick?” Nathan rumbled and Patrick could feel the vibrations though his chest.

“I’m just out to have a little fun tonight. Celebrate graduation.” Feeling bold, Patrick looked up at Nathan through his lashes and continued, coyly. “Go home with someone, if the right person comes along.”

“Well what do you know, me too.” Nathan teased. In that moment their hips gently brushed together and Patrick could feel the thick length of Nathan against his thigh. He couldn’t help the full body shiver that rushed through him and felt blood flow downward.

He wanted to feel Nathan, to let the alpha hold him down and have his way. He wanted to be the single focus of those intense, soul-searching eyes.

Patrick stood up on his toes and whispered in Nathan’s ear. “Well then, what do you say we get out of here?”

  CHAPTER 2 - NATHAN

NATHAN RARELY TOOK the chance to go out and have fun.

He couldn’t, really. He wanted to become a senior associate in his law firm, which meant that he didn’t have much free time, and what free time he did have was spent taking on extra cases in order to prove that he was worth a leadership position.

Tonight though, Nathan was going to let loose.

His months, years, of hard work had finally payed off. He had finally proven himself and he was going to be an official senior associate at Harrison and Maddox.

He had worked to put himself through law school, working two jobs, living in a tiny shoebox apartment, having practically no life in order to get the best grades, and it had all paid off.

Sure he would have infinitely more responsibility than he’d had as a junior lawyer, but he would also have more support and most importantly someone to do his paperwork so that he could concentrate on helping people.

Nathan’s original plan had been to just go out to a nice dinner, enjoy a bottle of wine, and have an early night in, but the second he told that to Johnathan, the other alpha had rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.

“Come on Nathan.” Johnathan had deadpanned. “You’re the youngest person to have made senior associate in the history of the firm. That deserves more than a nice dinner. You can have a fancy dinner almost any night of the week, and on the firms dime too.” Johnathan had cajoled. “Let’s do something fun and maybe,” Johnathan waggled his eyebrows, “find you a nice omega.”

Nathan had sighed exasperatedly, but it did sound nice. He hadn’t really had the chance to go out or hook up lately, by the time he was done with work he was usually too tired to do more than go home and collapse into bed. Maybe going out would be a good change of pace.

That was how Nathan found himself dressed up and dragged to a club by his best friend on a Saturday night.

The music was louder than he really would have preferred, but it was easy to get lost in the dancing and the beautiful people.

Nathan wasn’t really thinking, just moving from omega to omega with a charming smile and soft words. He wasn’t really looking for anything or anyone, but it was nice to have human contact and a soft body to hold.

Throughout it all, he kept catching sight of two omegas dancing together in the middle of the dance floor, seemingly ignoring the world. One was short with brown hair and a shirt that looked painted on, but the other made Nathan’s breath hitch.

After a while, the faces and bodies all seemed too blur together into one anonymous mass that made everyone look alike, but Nathan couldn’t tear his eyes away from this particular omega.

He was tall, blonde, and slim, but with enough muscle that he was fit rather than twiggy. He moved in a way that was far from graceful, but was just clumsy enough to be endearing. It made Nathan want and he just couldn’t look away.

Nathan wasn’t about to interrupt though, it looked like the omega was having plenty of fun just dancing with his friend, and so, tired of wading through the faceless masses, Nathan made his way over to the table at the edge of the floor that Johnathan had claimed. The other omega was sipping a drink and he grinned as he looked over at Nathan.

“Having fun?” Johnathan said with a smirk, and raised an eyebrow at Nathan.

Nathan just nodded and took a long drink of his glass of water. The dancing had left him parched.

“I saw you eyeing that blonde. Why don’t you go over and say something?”

Nathan just shrugged. “It looks like he’s fine on his own, I don’t want to intrude.”

“Intrude?” Johnathan scoffed. “Come on, you know that everyone is here for the same reason as you, have a little fun, maybe go home with someone at the end of the night.”

Johnathan kept talking, but Nathan frankly couldn’t hear anything that he was saying. The omega had turned and their eyes met, and now Nathan couldn’t look away.

The other man’s eyes were bright and blue, and there was a gleam in them that told of intelligence and wit. It made
Nathan want, even if it would only be for a night.

A nudge on his arm brought Nathan back to his senses. “I see him looking at you.” Johnathan said exasperatedly. “Go on Nathan.”

Nathan rolled his eyes but got up anyway.

The omega was simply captivating, Nathan knew that he would regret it if he didn’t at least talk to him.

It was easy to wind his way through the crowd until he reached the omega and his friend. The blush that colored the omega’s cheeks when he turned looked should have looked awkward on his large frame but only served to make him look that much more adorable. Nathan offered out his hand and a soft smile settled across his face. “May I have this dance?”

The omega looked frozen and his friend gave him a slight shove with a wide grin on his face. To Nathan’s shock, the omega looked almost about to topple over and he reached out a hand to steady him.

A smile spread across the omega’s face and he reached out to take Nathan’s hand. It was soft and warm in Nathan’s grasp. “Okay, let’s go.” The omega said softly, and Nathan grinned as he led him further in to the crowd of people who had gathered on the dance floor.

“I’m Nathan, by the way.” Nathan said gently as he pulled the omega in against him. The song was slow, and it gave Nathan an excuse to hold the omega close as they talked.

“Patrick.” The omega replied with an almost shy smile. The blush from earlier still hadn’t completely faded and the light dusting of pink made him look absolutely adorable.

“So what brings you here tonight Patrick?” Nathan said with a grin and watched the pink in Patrick’s cheeks come back in full force.

“I’m just out to have a little fun tonight. Celebrate graduation.” A bold grin crossed the omega’s face and Nathan felt himself smirk. “Go home with someone, if the right person comes along.”

“Well what do you know, me too.” Nathan grinned and ran a hand along the omega’s back, reveling in the shiver that came with it.
