Lush Beginnings: A Lush Seduction Bonus Chapter Page 3

She had picked a few songs to listen to, and we sang along loudly. We didn’t manage to sing the song perfectly, since we kept distracted one another.

Cleaning the café went faster than any other day, and I was changing into my normal attire. Clarity was waiting for me in front of the bathroom. She told me about how she wanted to run her own café one day but stayed working for Veronica since she wanted to gain more experience.

I had returned within ten minutes, and we were chatting in the parking lot.

“I think the Empire will be thankful to have such an amazing dancer one day.”

“Don’t say that.” I waved her off. “I still have to wait for the day to be announced. I moved here to dance, but I don’t know when I’m able to be on stage.”

“What will happen if there won’t be a date?”

That question had roamed through my head multiple times, but I always told myself that if I were going to move to Los Angeles – I would never return back to Texas. I wasn’t going to show the people back in my hometown that I had failed. Never.

“I’ll try to work more often at the café, I think.”

I wasn’t entirely sure about my own words.

“The fact that you are even here shows how determined you are,” Clarity stated.

I picked at my nails nervously as I looked down at my feet. “I know,” I mumbled.

“If I could call the Empire myself, I’d tell them how quickly they needed to hire you. But, unfortunately, I don’t have a massive influence in LA.”

“Thank you, Clarity. I really appreciate it that you and Kent have been so amazingly nice to me from the moment I walked in,” I said.

“We wouldn’t have wanted it any other way! When you walked in, we knew you’d be such a kind girl. We all have to begin somewhere, and this is your place. The more you work here, the more you’ll realize how close we are. It’s like a second family.”

When Clarity mentioned ‘family’, I felt myself getting slightly emotional – but I didn’t show it. I was grateful that she told me this, because the café – all the employees and Veronica – had made me feel safe whenever I was working here. Maybe the feeling of a second family, but then in Los Angeles, wasn’t so bad at all.

Clarity gave me a hug and bid me goodbye.

I reached my car, and I turned around toward Clarity when she grabbed my attention by yelling my name from across the parking lot.

“You are going to make it. Vicky.”
