“One more time, beautiful.”
She whimpered up at me and I watched her facial expression change as I continued to rotate my pelvic bone on her clit.
Then I felt it. She let out a long loud moan as she dug her nails into my biceps. Her walls pulsated and gripped me like a glove and I wasn’t able to hold back any longer. Without breaking my eyes away, I let out my own moans as I released with her.
Nothing could ever replace or compare to the connection and love I felt for her.
We made love for the first time that night and a second time the next morning. After everything that we had been through, I never expected her to love me. But she did and I would do everything I could to keep it that way.
Two weeks passed since Kade told me he had to stay away for a while and I thought about it frequently. I still couldn’t believe he told me he loved me. Every time I thought about it, a big smile formed on my face. Before he left the next morning, he told me that he’d still be calling and texting to check up on me, which I was thrilled about. If I couldn’t see him, I at least wanted to be able to talk to him.
I was worried about him though. I didn’t like this situation at all. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t freaked out about it. At first, I acted like it wasn’t a big deal. It didn’t have anything to do with me, so I didn’t worry about it. Then, Kade told me that Paul had been keeping tabs on me.
That made me uneasy.
When I told Jules about what happened, she was happy that Kade was backing off. She was worried that I would eventually get hurt. She made me promise to always keep my phone on me everywhere I went and to give her Kade’s and Bryce’s numbers so that she could call them if anything ever happened. I thought she was being a little dramatic, but I loved her for caring.
Bryce started making his presence known almost on a daily basis. He’d come up to the apartment to say hi and hang out for a little bit. On the rare occasion that Jules was home, she’d always give us a look like she thought something was going on between us. I had to tell her numerous times that nothing was going on and that Bryce knew I was with Kade.
I even told her about the pictures and Skype sessions Kade and I would have. She didn’t believe me at first, until I showed her one of the pics. It wasn’t a bad one. Just a pic of him posing in his boxer briefs. She did get a small glimpse at the other pictures, but I didn’t enlarge them for her to see.
As for the Skype sessions, that took some getting used to. I had never done anything like that before, so I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. Kade took the initiative and did a little show for me. I never realized how turned on I would get just by watching him touch himself. Then when it was my turn to try, I was extremely shy and embarrassed to do it, but once we got started, it was amazing.
I missed touching him, but he told me that things were starting to come together and that he was really close to getting what he needed. I had no idea exactly what he was trying to get, but I knew what he was doing was dangerous. I just hoped he could do it and not get hurt. I thought about his safety all the time, especially with him working with Paul.
“Hey, are you just going to sit there all day and stare out the window?”
I snapped out of my daze to see Sam smiling at me.
“Oh, don’t mind her, she’s just probably day dreaming about all the naked pictures and videos Kade keeps sending her,” Jules interjected.
“Jules,” I gasped and they both laughed as I looked over to see if Doug was paying any attention. Of course, I wouldn’t expect him to look over at us when we did our antics, but he paid attention. It was just really creepy how he was always so quiet.
“What?” Jules smirked at me. “You know it’s the truth. I can see that look on your face and you’re all flushed.”
I shook my head and rolled my eyes at her. She was going to get it later. “Aren’t you supposed to be working or something?” I asked as I started to go through my files.
It was a Tuesday morning and I had done a lot of work the day before so I didn’t have much to do that morning. I did need to go and meet a new client, but I wasn’t doing that until later that afternoon.
Jules came over and sat on the edge of my desk. “I came out here because I just got off the phone with Brent and I wanted to ask you if you wanted to come to dinner with us. We’re going to Moscoto’s and it’s been awhile since we’ve spent any time together, so I thought it’d be nice.”
It definitely would be nice. Once she and Brent finally pronounced their love for each other, I hardly saw her anymore. I’d been waiting for the day that she would come home and tell me she was moving her stuff in with him. “But you’ll be with Brent and I’ll be the third wheel. I hate being the oddball.”
“We can get someone else to come along. Maybe Bryce can come too?” she suggested.
I scrunched up my nose and shook my head no. I loved hanging out with Bryce, but he’d been around way too much lately.
Sam cleared his throat and we both looked over at him. “I’ll go with you,” he offered. “I don’t have anything better to do anyway.” Then he looked at me with a smile. “We can pretend to be lovers,” he said seductively, “and make the restaurant patrons feel uncomfortable.” He wiggled his eyebrows at me.
I started to laugh. “Oh my gosh, Sam, you are too much.”
“See, problem solved,” Jules said as she walked away from my desk. “Brent is meeting someone there around five-thirty to talk over some business stuff. So we’ll meet at our place,” she said to Sam. “Then we’ll leave around six-thirty.”
“Okay, sounds good,” I said as Sam nodded his head.
At least I wouldn’t be sitting at home doing nothing, waiting to see if Kade called.
What an asshole! I thought as I climbed into my car.
My last appointment of the day was with an actor who recently became ‘big time’. The attitude he gave me the entire time showed the fame was getting to his head. I sighed as I put my car in drive and headed home.
“At least I don’t have to go back to the office,” I thought out loud. Most of my clients didn’t drain me to this point, but since moving to Los Angeles, the clientele became more and more unpleasant to work with. It amazed me how money and fame could change a person to the point of treating people like dirt; particularly my last client. I wanted to tell him to kiss my ass.
I reached down and turned my radio on. I was fifteen minutes from my apartment, enough time to begin letting the day go before I got home. I glanced in my review mirror. A big black SUV was riding my bumper. I felt like slamming on my brakes to get the SUV to back off, but instead, I took a deep breath.
Relax, I told myself. I’ll be home soon.
I cranked up the volume on the radio and sang along. Soon, my stress from the day started to fade away. My exit was coming up, and as I started to switch lanes, I noticed that same SUV was still behind me and changing lanes too.
That’s odd. Although I was among a million people on the highway, I couldn’t help but feel like I was being followed. I was probably overreacting, but after all the shit Kade was involved in, I found myself suspecting everyone was part of his uncle’s crew.
As I drove through town, the SUV fell behind. Thank God for traffic lights. I still didn’t feel safe, but at least they weren’t right behind me. I pulled into my parking spot and watched for the SUV.
There it is! As it passed by my apartment building, I released the breath I didn’t realize I was holding.
I laughed at myself, “I’m so paranoid.” I unbuckled, grabbed my stuff, and headed to the building entrance. As I laid my hand on the handle of the door, I glanced back at the road and watched a handful of cars drive by. No black SUV.
Taking a reassuring breath, I pushed open the door and walked down the hall to my apartment. As I let myself in, the stress of the day and my stalking adventure melted away.
Walking into my bedroom, I threw my purse on the bed and headed to the bathroom. I needed to take a shower and let
the water wash the day away.
Stepping into the shower, I walked under the spray and let the water wash over me. The heat of the water was turning my skin pink and it felt so good. The shower was my oasis. The one place I just relaxed. I loved having the hot water spray over my head. It soothed my troubles and helped me think.
As I stood in the shower, I debated whether or not to tell Kade that I thought I was being followed or if maybe I should tell Bryce, since he was the one that was supposed to be watching out for me. I just didn’t know if I was over reacting or not.
Lately, my mind had been running wild, especially at night. I was having crazy dreams about Kade and Bryce. I’d wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air and sweating profusely. I didn’t remember what the dreams were about, only that Kade and Bryce were in them. I knew they couldn’t be good dreams though, because I always woke up with a dreaded fear incased in my bones.
I hadn’t said anything about it to Jules and I wasn’t going to. I didn’t want to worry her. Since I’d been having all my crazy dreams, it was making me overly paranoid.
After washing with my favorite vanilla and lavender scented shower gel, I stepped out of the shower and dried off. I walked into my bedroom and looked through my closet for something to wear. Sam told me that Moscoto’s was an upper class restaurant, so I’d need to wear something classy. Looking through my dresses, I picked out my red spaghetti strap dress. It had a sweetheart neckline and fit my curves very nicely. The length was longer than I was used to, ending just below my knees, but it was really cute and my black stilettos look great with it.
I blow dried my hair and put on a little bit of makeup, then I looked over at the clock beside my bed; it was six-ten so Sam would be arriving soon. I thought it was really sweet of him to volunteer to go with me. I wouldn’t have gone if I had to go by myself with the two lovebirds.
After accessorizing my outfit and grabbing a black clutch, I went out into the living room to wait for Jules. Taking out all the things from my purse that I would need for the evening, I transported them to my black clutch. Looking down at my phone, I noticed I had a missed text.
Kade: Hey beautiful, I have sum biz 2 take care of 2nite so I wont b able 2 call.
I was bummed that I wouldn’t be able to talk to him, but I knew he was busy.
Scarlett: K miss u.
I received the notification that he read the text right away and waited for a return text, but none came.
Just then, Jules came out into the living room wearing a dark blue cap-sleeved sundress.
“Wow, Jules, I love that dress.”
She gave me a megawatt smile and did a little spin for me to see the whole thing. “Thanks, I just got it last week on sale at Macy’s. You look great too,” she said looking me over.
“Thanks,” I smiled at her. “So … how are things going with you and Brent? We haven’t really talked in a week. I feel like I never see you anymore and you are always busy at work.”
“I know, I suck. I’m sorry. I always said I wouldn’t be one of those girls who gets so wrapped up in her man, yet look at me,” she sighed, flailing her hands up.
“Jules, I do the same thing. It’s not that big of a deal. I just miss you.” I smiled up at her. I definitely didn’t want her feeling bad. She deserved to be happy.
“Things are so great, Letti. But, I did get a call from my dad the other day asking when he was going to meet him. I made the mistake of telling my mother and she must have told him.”
I laughed and shook my head at her expression. She looked freaked out. “Why is that such a bad thing?”
“Do you realize how long it’s been since I’ve introduced my parents to a guy I was seeing? Not since Greg and that was senior prom.”
“Just don’t make a big deal about it, Jules. They will love him,” I said, just as we heard a knock on the door.
Jules walked to the door and opened it, letting Sam walk in. He was in black slacks and a grey button-up shirt with the top two buttons undone. His hair was even spiked up. He looked really good. If I wasn’t with Kade, I’d definitely be all over Sam. But since I was, I’d just have the pleasure of looking at him.
“Damn, Sam, look at you. You’re hot,” Jules said as she circled him. “And your ass looks luscious in those pants.”
I laughed at her bluntness. She really didn’t have a filter.
I got up from the couch and walked over to Sam to give him a hug. “Thanks for being my date tonight,” I stepped back and looked him over. “You do look really hot.” I smiled at him.
He gave me a once over and then looked over at Jules. “I think we all fit that bill tonight, ladies,” he smirked at us.
“Come on, it’s time for our shot,” Jules said, motioning us to the kitchen.
“Jules, we aren’t going clubbing. We’re going to eat.”
“I don’t care. I still want one.” She pulled out three shot glasses and poured the tequila. “To us, may we always find a reason for a tequila shot.”
I looked over at Sam and rolled my eyes. She was always so sentimental.
“Okay, ladies, let’s go before Brent starts to wonder where we are.”
“In a hurry, Jules?” Sam smirked. He had a death grip on the “oh-shit” handle above his head.
Jules barely glanced in his direction. All of her attention was on the road. Moscoto’s was located on the other side of town and would normally take forty minutes to get there, but with “bat out of hell” Jules driving, we made it in half the time.
“Welcome to Moscoto’s” the hostess standing behind a podium greeted us as we walked in. “What is your party’s name?” Jules walked up to the hostess and provided her name.
As the hostess searched her list, Sam bent down and whispered in my ear, “They have people on a waiting list to come here.”
I looked over at him in shock as he pulled away. “Then how are we able to get in?” I asked softly.
He shrugged his shoulders. “Brent must know people. Why do you think I offered to be your date? I’ve never been here,” he smiled at me.
That sly dog.
The hostess found us on her list and politely escorted us around the long white partition that blocked most of the dining area.
As soon as we walked around it, my mouth hung open in awe. This place was beautiful, so classy and elegant. I’d never seen anything like it before. It literally reminded me of the dining area on the movie Titanic. There was artistic woodwork on the walls, chandeliers hanging from the ceilings, and the table settings were all white and silver. I felt completely out of place.
The hostess walked us down to the left to a table close to the wall where Brent was sitting. As soon as he saw Jules, he smiled brightly and got up to kiss her in greeting. After pulling away from her, he did the same to me. He really was such a gentleman. I was so glad that they finally expressed their love for each other.
“So how did your meeting go?” Jules asked Brent as we took our seat.
“It was productive. I’m thinking that I might join ventures with Mike and be his main investor. It will be a great opportunity.” He picked up his glass of water and took a sip as I looked over at Jules trying to figure out what they were talking about. I looked back to Brent who looked at me with a smile. “Sorry, that was rude. I’m thinking about investing in a high-end restaurant in Chicago. Something similar to this,” he said looking around the restaurant, “but with more of a city feel to it.”
“Oh, wow, that would be awesome,” I smiled and looked over at Jules. She didn’t look as thrilled for him as I thought she would. And then it clicked. If he did invest in this new venture, he’d be gone … a lot. Just like when he was in Atlanta all that time getting his club set up. Although, it would be a little different. He wouldn’t be the owner, he’d just be an investor. I wasn’t really sure how that worked, but I knew that look on Jules’ face. She was bothered by something.
“If you did become his investor, does that mean you would have
to be a part of the project like you were with your club in Atlanta?” I asked.
He scrunched his eyebrows together and glanced at Jules as he cleared his throat. “That all depends on how things go. Investors don’t necessarily have to do anything, but I’m not like most investors. I like to make sure my money is being used appropriately. So, if I do invest, I’m sure I’ll be gone, but not as long as I was when The Sinners’ Club was being built,” he answered. He picked up his glass of water and glanced over to Jules again, who was looking down at the table. I could tell that this news bothered her. I would talk to her about it later. I didn’t think what he said sounded too bad, but I didn’t know what was going through her head.
“How are things going with your club in Atlanta? I’ve heard great things about it from these two ladies.” Sam chimed in and changed the subject.
We all looked over our menus as Brent talked to Sam about his club. I looked over at Jules a couple of times, just to make sure she was okay. She didn’t seem distant anymore and she was listening intently to the conversation the boys were having.
A waiter walked up to our table and placed glasses of red wine in front of each of us.
“I hope you don’t mind,” Brent stated, “I ordered the table some red wine before you all got here. This is supposed to be an excellent brand.”
“Not at all. Thanks, mate.” Sam replied.
“Yes, thank you. That was very sweet of you.” I smiled at Brent. I lifted the wine glass and brought it to my lips, tilting it back slowly. A burst of flavor erupted in my mouth as soon as the wine hit my tongue. It tasted like blackberries with a hint of a woody flavor and the alcohol level must have been high. I could feel it tingling on my tongue and the heat of it as it went down my throat. This was definitely a great selection of wine.
The waiter arrived at our table just as I was setting my wine glass down and asked if we were ready to order. I told him I’d have the special, which was a shrimp pasta dish, and sat back in my chair while the others ordered their meals.
