Additionally, there’s super editor Lindsey Rose! I still pinch myself on the regular that Lindsey loved my pages of Mr. Right-Swipe enough to take a chance on me and make my debut novel—my dream of being a published author—a reality. I realize and appreciate how lucky I am to have such a talented and supportive editor in my corner, and I’m nothing but grateful to be able to work with her. She has done an amazing job of helping me bring out the best in my plots, my characters, and I can’t thank her enough for all her hard work and support. You’re the best, Lindsey!

In addition to Lindsey, I am thrilled to have a brilliant group of folks at Grand Central behind me and my books. Jordan Rubinstein and Tiffany Sanchez, your creativity and wonderful hustle in helping me find awesome ways to reach audiences and eyeballs has been amazing! As well, I’d like to thank the rest of the GC crew who have worked on making SAB the best it can be! This especially includes Nidhi Pugalia, Morgan Swift, Nicole Bond, Lisa Forde, Beth deGuzman, Jennifer Tordy, Nancy Wiese, Abby Reilly, Joan Matthews, and Yasmin Mathew. You are all amazing!

Another remarkable group would be my writing pals—some of whom have been around since the very beginning, some of whom I’ve met along the way, all of whom are very special people who put up with my crap and who inspire me on a daily basis. Renée Ahdieh, Sarah Nicole Lemon, Sarah Henning, Joy Callaway, and Chuck Sambuchino, thank you all for your help, your guidance, your ideas, your support, and most of all, your friendship! (I’d also like to give a special shout-out to Jared Lemon, who, together with his wife, gave me some awesome D.C. location info! Thanks, Lemons!)

Likewise, I would like to show my gratitude to a few non-writers who are there for me (sometimes daily), despite living hundreds of miles away. Suzi Westerfield, Lauren DiMattia, and Sarah Chocholous, thank you all so much for caring, for listening, for being encouraging—and for letting me talk through plot points even when I’m just rambling and you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about. Love and miss you!!!!!!

And, of course, no amount of dedications or acknowledgment mentions will ever express just how much I owe my parents, Jane and Rick Gerald. You’re the reason I’m still kickin’, your love inspires me every day, and I can’t imagine any of this without you. Love you lots!

Although she’s originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and has spent the most time there, Ricki has also lived in Georgia and Virginia. (She promises she’s not a drifter, though.) In addition to writing, she has molded the minds of tweens and teens as a middle school and high school teacher in both the CLE and the ATL—and she also spent a year teaching writing and communications at the college level. She’s back in Atlanta now, and she owns the cutest beagle ever (Molly).
