Ella steps out into the aisle way and grins at Braedon as she saunters sassily past his aisle, pausing in front of him for a moment before continuing forward. Hand-in-hand Gabby and Maddy skip happily down the aisle throwing flower petals all over guests in aisle-seats. Dressed in a suit, Donovan all but runs down the aisle holding his pillow, and earning a sharp stare from both of his parents. A silent warning to behave or else. Gabe grins. The preacher asks the guests to stand. The Wedding March begins and Gabe’s breath is taken away.
Beauty. That is what stands before him. He has seen Mac every way imaginable. He’s seen her hair unruly after she just woke up covering her mouth to guard him from her morning breath. He’s seen her glammed up like the night of the auction a few years ago and various states of dress and undress since then. But, this. This is something else. She is radiant. Glowing and smiling brighter than he’s seen since before Declan passed. Brighter, perhaps, than he’d ever seen and without realizing it, his smile widens to match hers. Their eyes are tethered to one another. She slowly makes her way down the aisle, her arm on Jude’s. She doesn’t even stop to look at him, which makes Gabriel one very happy, even though slightly jealous, man.
“Who gives this woman to be married to this man?” asks the preacher.
Jude clears his throat, “Her friends and I.”
The vows are repeated. The rings exchanged. Permission is granted. He may kiss his bride. And does he ever. He kisses her long and strong, bending her pliant body backward until she begins to giggle and the crowd bursts into applause and laughing. Whistles shrill out overhead. He finally pulls away, grinning at his bride. His Mac-forever.
