Travis tugged her arms above her head and pressed into the length of her body, grinding his cock against her mound. The small crotch of her shorts slid between her pussy lips and rubbed against her clit. The friction of his thrusting sent her pulse racing.

“I’m burning, Travis. So hot…” she panted. She grabbed the hem of his shirt and jerked it over his head.

Lorna brushed against him, letting her nipples lightly rub his chest. Her breasts tingled with each touch and sent hot sparks to her pussy. She was rewarded with a deep groan as he cupped her breasts, massaging them in his hands. He held them together, tweaking the nipples between his thumbs and forefingers.

“I want you to take me slowly this time. I want to remember each second of your body touching mine.” Lorna rubbed against him.

“I’ll do anything you want as long as it makes you happy.” Travis lifted his hips and peeled his jeans off.

A wicked gleam shone in his eyes when he looked at her again. He clamped his lips around her nipple, sucking hard on the rosy tip. She watched his tongue circle the taut nub, and her breathing hitched. He blew warm air against the wet flesh sending a chill through her. Her nipple tightened and puckered. He gave the same attention to her other breast, before burying his face between them to plant kisses from her cleavage to her shorts.

“You’re not naked yet.” He slid the shorts from her, following with his mouth. She writhed in anticipation of his tongue lapping at her sensitive flesh.

When he parted her thighs Travis groaned in appreciation as his fingers parted her outer lips. “You’ve got the sexiest pussy.”

Travis’s thumb pressed against her clit, rubbing in slow circular motions. “You like this?”

“Yes.” She lifted her hips up to him.

“I bet you’ll like this too.” He pressed two fingers inside her, slowly moving them in and out.

“Ummm humm, that feels good but I want your cock in me.” Her body ached to feel his thick length filling her. She opened her legs for him.

He bent down and flicked his tongue over her clit, sending an arc of lightning up her spine. His fingers thrust deeper into her, drawing in and out faster as he teased her clit with his tongue, running the tip over her sensitive flesh. She lifted her hips to his wet mouth as fire flamed through her, lashing at her pussy, tensing her body. He gently circled the tip of his tongue over her clit and sent her over the edge. Her body spasmed as the orgasm ripped her apart.

Travis pulled his fingers from her to slam his cock into her hot wet pussy. Pumping and grinding against her, Travis took her so hard she was sure he’d follow with his own release. A second orgasm sent shock waves rippling through her, tightening the walls of her pussy around his cock. He rode the pulsating waves, gradually slowing the pace until her breathing slowed. Sweat glistened over her chest, dampening tendrils of hair around her face.

Looking down at her, Travis thought he’d never seen her look more beautiful or satisfied.

Panting and shivering in the afterglow of the fiercest double orgasm she’d ever experienced, Lorna opened her eyes to look up at him. A grin tilted across his face and she was surprised that his cock was still hard inside her.

“You didn’t come?” Lorna rolled over when he pulled from her, so that she was on her hands and knees in front of him with her ass tilted up for him to see. She wiggled her buttocks, teasing him. “I know you like to take me from behind.”

  “Damn, look at that ass.”

Lorna pushed back against him as he entered her again. She loved the way he filled her. Travis caressed her cheeks, then, hooking his fingers around her hips, he groaned and thrust into her. She tightened her muscles around his hard cock.

He reached around her hip to rub her clit. Lorna rose up on her knees in front of him to give him better access. He groaned and cupped her breasts, running his thumbs over the nipples and sending electric pulses streaking to her clit. She moaned as the fire scorching her pussy rose up her spine, tingling her sweaty body into chills. She flushed with heat. His breathing quickened until he was panting in her ear. Reaching back she held onto the nape of his neck and dropped her head onto his collarbone. She was so close, her body trembled as he held her hips and thrust into her pussy. He pulled her down on his cock and rotated from side to side and she shattered into a million pieces. Her pussy contracted around him, pulling him deeper inside. He held her close, panting and groaning, his chest sliding against her back as he spilled his cum in her.

“My sweet Lorna,” he whispered against her ear.

She slid to her stomach on the soft moss then rolled onto her back. Travis curled against her and wrapped a leg over her hip. Soon, his breathing became rhythmic and steady. Lorna couldn’t sleep. Her mind was a jumble of thoughts, her heart a mixture of pleasure and worry for what the night would bring. She couldn’t lose him. She clung to him and prayed for a miracle, for the marriage ceremony to join them as one. Then she could go with him into the light, if no one acknowledged her existence, and be with him on the other side.

“You’re crazy. Both of you.” Philip looked from his sister to his girlfriend. “There’s no way in hell I’m going out there at midnight and neither are you guys.”

“You can’t stop us.” Midge propped her hands on her hips. “We’re asking you to come with us in case other people are there. But if you refuse we’ll go by ourselves.”

“You’ll go without me?” He stared at Valerie.

“This is something I have to do.” Valerie rubbed her hand over his tanned arm. “Will you come with us? Please?”

“I can’t believe the two of you. Ms. Delores is crazy, don’t you know that?” He ran a hand through his windblown hair. “You can’t believe anything she says.”

“I believe what I saw.” Valerie stared at him. Even though she had a black belt in karate and could protect herself, she had to convince him to go. If Ms. Delores was right, he might be her true love. If he was, he would be able to see Lorna and she’d go into the light with Travis instead of being left behind all alone. That thought left a heavy feeling in her heart.

“You’re just scared of things you don’t understand.” Midge poked him in the chest.

“Watch the claws!” He stepped back to lean against the life guard stand and stared at Valerie. “What did Ms. Delores tell you anyway?”

“You’ll find out tonight,” Midge said.

Philip gave his sister a look meant to shut her up.

“You’re dead set on going there?” Philip asked Valerie.

  “I have to.” She nodded.

“How do I always get myself into these situations?” Phil shook his head. “Wait, I don’t! It’s the two of you. You’re always pulling me into something that I don’t want any part of. If I don’t go then who’ll protect you?”

“You’re coming with us?” Valerie asked. She smiled and leaned into him.

“Yeah, I’ll go. I’d do anything for you. Don’t you know that by now?” Phil grabbed her around the waist and pulled her against him to kiss her.

“So, when’s the wedding?” Midge teased. “You know bro, I can legally perform marriage ceremonies now.”

She winked at Valerie to remind her of the one she’d be performing tonight for Travis and Lorna. Her first.

“What do you say?” Philip smiled down at Valerie. “Do you want Midge to marry us?”

“Are you proposing to me, Philip?” Valerie laughed. Her voice betrayed her nervousness and the sound was too high pitched and squeaky.

  “Maybe.”

What kind of answer is that? Either he was or he wasn’t. Valerie didn’t dare hope. The crush she’d had on him had started in eleventh grade, the year she’d moved to Lighthouse Inlet and now, in their final year of college… No, he was kidding. He’d always been Midge’s big brother and never paid attention to his sister’s friend. They’d only been dating a month and hadn’t even had sex yet. She wondered why she’d held off with him, maybe because she
loved him and didn’t want him to just throw her away like his past girlfriends. She’d taken a chance that he’d do that anyway by asking him to wait until she was ready to have sex. And now he was teasing her about marriage? She rolled her eyes at him. “Whatever, you big kidder.”

“I think he’s serious,” Midge said in a loud whisper that Philip could hear.

“Ummm humm, I think I am, too.” He leaned in and kissed Valerie again.

“You guys can get a room tonight after we’re finished.” Midge pushed them apart. “Right now, we need to make plans.”

“What costumes are you two wearing to the party?” Philip wiggled his toes in the sand and kicked some at Midge.

“Cut it out, Phil!” Midge stepped away. “How about Ninjas? Then we can wear all black to the party and not be seen later.”

“I thought I was going to be a knight.”

“I know you’re my gallant knight, you don’t really have to dress up like one. Ninjas are perfect. We should leave at eleven thirty.” Valerie said. “That’ll give us a half hour to walk over to the Hutchinson place.”

“We can get there in ten minutes. What are we going to do for the other twenty?” Philip said, turning so the wind blew the hair from his eyes.

“We wait.” Midge grabbed Valerie’s hand and pulled her along the sand toward the boardwalk. “See you later, bro!”

“Girls.” Philip rolled his eyes, grabbed his boogie board and ran to the ocean.

“Lorna, wake up.” Travis jostled her shoulder. “It’s late. We need to get ready.”

She stretched and opened her eyes. He was resting on one elbow, gazing down at her. “Were you watching me sleep?”

“You snore.” A grin spread across his face.

“I do not!” She stretched and wrapped her arms around his neck. “I didn’t mean to fall asleep. We wasted time together because we were snoozing.”

“Don’t you know one of my favorite things is to sleep with you snuggled next to me?” He stood and pulled her up from the pallet. “We should get back to the house.”

  “We don’t have our costumes.”

“This year we don’t need them,” Travis said. “Let’s get dressed and wait for Valerie.”

  * * * * *

“This is a really bad idea.” Philip pointed the flashlight toward the old house. “Let’s go back.”

“Shh, quit being such a chicken!” Midge walked out in front of the small group.

Valerie followed close on her heels, shining the beam of her flashlight alongside Midge’s to create a larger area of light.

“People do weird things on Halloween,” Philip said. “We should go back to the party.”

Valerie turned to face him. “Well, this year, we’re the ones doing weird things. Come on.”

“I want to know why you had to come here. This place gives me the creeps during the day. I’d much rather be back at the party having fun with our friends. What did Ms. Delores say to you?”

Ignoring Philip, Valerie followed Midge up the creaky old steps into the burned out building. With Midge by her side and Philip taking up the rear, she went through the front door that was nearly rotted off its hinges. The place really was an eyesore. Next year a new shopping complex would be built here.

That had to be why Travis had appeared today. The property would change before next Halloween and they’d have no where to go.

Valerie walked to the center of the house and peered out into the darkness. Three flashlight beams scurried around the area revealing partially standing side walls and a missing back wall. She pointed the flashlight at her watch, noticing that her hands were shaking. “It’s almost midnight.”

“Do you see anything?” Midge whispered.

  “Not yet,” she whispered back.

“What are we looking for?” Philip said in his normal voice.

“Shh!” both girls turned to him with their fingers in front of their lips.

Philip rolled his eyes. They looked back into the darkness and he followed their gaze.

The minutes ticked by, slower than molasses on a cold day. They stood in complete silence. From the rear of the house Valerie saw a glow slowly emanating from where the back wall once stood.

“What in the hell is that?” Philip whispered.

“Just watch.” Valerie answered. “Then tell me what you see.”

The glow grew wider and more brilliant until Travis stood in the center of the burned out room where he’d died.

  “Who is she?” Philip asked.

“Delores was right.” Valerie smiled at Midge.

“So, I get to pick the bridesmaid’s gowns?” Midge giggled.

“Shh.” Valerie elbowed Midge. “You see a woman, Phil?”

  “Yeah, don’t you?”

  “No, I see a man.”

  “Who?”

“Remember when you didn’t see the man I described to you at the beach today?”

“Yeah, but what’s that got to do with this?”

  “It’s the same guy.”

“You have to talk to the woman you see, Philip,” Midge said.

“Are you out of your mind? Didn’t you see that?” Philip said. “She appeared out of nowhere.”

“No, I can’t see either of them.” Midge faced her brother. “Only you and Valerie can. Ms. Delores said that if you saw the woman you had to release her.”

“Aw, hell.” Philip grabbed Valerie’s hand. “Now I know why we’re here. Why didn’t you tell me we were looking for Travis and Lorna?”

“Would you have come with me if I’d told you we needed to help ghosts into the light?”

“Probably not.” Philip sighed. “I’m only doing this for you, you know.”

“I know and I love you for it.” Valerie rubbed the top of his hand. God, she hadn’t meant to blurt that out. She’d never said those three words to him before. It was so easy to say in the dark where she couldn’t really see his reaction. Maybe he’d forget or think she’d meant it as only a friend since they’d been friends before they started dating.

“I’ll get his attention. Travis!” Valerie called out into the night.

He turned, saw her and walked toward where they stood. “Valerie. Thank you for coming. Is Midge ready to marry us?”

“Are you ready, Midge?” Valerie asked.

“Absolutely. Hi, Travis and Lorna,” Midge said.

“You can start anytime you’re ready,” Travis said.

“Can you hear her? She can’t see either of you.”

“I don’t see anything but a black field.” Midge shifted her weight to one foot. “It sucks too because I’m the one who is big into the paranormal. I don’t have true love on my side.”

“I can hear her.” Travis gazed at Valerie but drew his arms around Lorna. “What does she mean about true love?”

“Ms. Delores said that only true love would you set you free. Philip is my boyfriend. I brought him along because Ms. Delores said I should.”

Travis faced Lorna, excitement shining in his eyes. “Ask him if he can see you now. Maybe he did notice you earlier but hasn’t told Valerie. This is what we hoped for.”

“If he doesn’t answer it will break my heart because I won’t be able to go with you.” Lorna glanced at Philip.

“Have faith, remember?” He caressed her face. “Just ask him.”

“I’m afraid. Let’s get married first. If that works then it isn’t going to matter if he sees me or not.”

“Can your friend marry us now?” Travis faced Valerie again. “A short sweet ceremony will work just fine.”

“Midge, it’s your turn. Travis wants a short ceremony.”

  “Okay, you’ll have to translate.”

“Travis and Lorna, do you agree to be each other’s lawfully wedded spouse until death do you part?”

“You’re kidding, right?” Valerie shone her light in Midge’s face. “Reword it, they’re already dead.”

  “Sorry. Do you ag
ree to be each other’s universally wedded spouses in the afterlife?”

  “We do,” Travis said.

  “They do,” Valerie repeated.

“By the power vested in me by the Minister of Metaphysics licensing board, I now pronounce you husband and wife through death and on the other side from now until the end of eternity. You may kiss the bride.”

“Now you’re going overboard,” Philip whispered.

“I love you, Lorna.” Travis gave Lorna a long, lingering kiss.

“Travis! You’re glowing.” Lorna clung to him. He was going into the light. Fear gripped at her heart. She didn’t want to exist without him, not even as a ghost. “Don’t leave me!” The words ripped from her on distraught sobs.

“No, I don’t want to go.” Panic surged in his voice. “Ask the boy if he can see you, Lorna. Hurry!”

“Do you see me?” Lorna ran over to Philip. “Please tell me that you see me.”

“Yeah, I can see you.” Philip stepped back. “Chill out a little.”

Tears rolled down Lorna’s face as she cried freely. She grabbed Philip around the neck and squeezed. “Thank you! Thank you so much.”

The glowing light around Travis increased in its intensity. Lorna started to glow a pale blue and stepped away from Philip into her husband’s arms. The glow stopped as they manifested in their physical forms.

“Oh my god. I can see both of you now!” Midge squealed in delight. “Wow, you’re both very beautiful. Well, handsome and beautiful. Oh, you know what I mean.”

“Midge!” Valerie said and took Philip’s hand. “I can see both of you now too.”

  “Yeah, me too,” Philip said.

Lorna smiled at Philip. “You are a brave young man to protect your sister and girlfriend. I feel your fear, but you have given me the greatest gift of all. Thank you for your courage.”

Philip’s chest expanded and he drew up to his full height. “No problem. Happy to do it.”
