His body ached for Pam. His thoughts kept going to the fact that she could be carrying his child even as he made his way to the condo she now called home. Nate had to fight everyday not to show up at her place and show her why she was already his. He told himself he would just have to settle for the reports he was receiving from one of his team.
Nate didn’t feel guilty at all that he had stationed an around the clock detail to Pamela since the day they returned to New York. Justin had done a full background check on Pamela and that was when Nate started to put the pieces together. His woman was seriously on the run. It surprised him that she would run into plain sight.
Chicago and New York were Luca’s stomping grounds. Once he figured out that Pam was here it would be easy to track her down and he would figure out where she was. It was what Uri did. Find people that needed to be found. Nate knew that Uri was as good at his job as Nate was at his own. Thus his woman would continue to have round the clock surveillance.
Nate got lucky finding a spot and parked his SUV stepping out smoothing his suit and straightening his tie. He looked up at the brownstone before him. Paige’s place was in a nice neighborhood and her condo was one of the newly renovated spaces that were in high demand. As he scanned the block he noted that the brownstone next to Paige’s had a for sale sign. He considered it for a moment but pushed the thought a side.
When he got his way they would be moving to the Briggs compound. Pamela would be able to let her sister get a return on her investment by renting. Nate had no intentions of living apart from Pamela for long. He hadn’t even thought about club Desire since returning from the island. He’d received a couple of email invitations from Luscious but he didn’t have the time or the inclination to join her at the club.
Nate made his way to the door and rang the doorbell. He could hear the music playing from within. It put a smirk on his face. When Pamela opened the door his smile went from a smirk to a smoldering full out sexy smile, showing off his full lips and white teeth as his chocolate eyes lit up.
Pamela looked sexy as sin in a skin tight pair of skinny jeans and an off the shoulder yellow sweater. Her hair was loose around her face and shoulders. Her feet were bare giving her a sexy relaxed and comfortable look.
Pam opened the door with a huge smile on her face expecting to find her sister standing on the other side. Her smile fell when she came face to face with the one man she couldn’t get out of her thoughts. She mentally did the math and was not shocked to find that it had been exactly two weeks. Two weeks she had also tried not to think about or countdown to.
“Aw shit,” Pam grumbled under her breath as Nate’s cologne and massive presence engulfed her. Her panties were not listening to her brain that was trying to tell her body not to react to him. Neither were her nipples that were now straining against the thin fabric of her sweater.
“Watch your mouth little one,” Nate said with a sexy smile.
“Screw you, giant. What do you want? Why are you here?” Pam said as she placed her hands on her hips.
She didn’t need this. There was a big part of her that was more than happy to see Nate but she already had enough on her plate. Uri had been insistent on her calling him. When she did you could just say the shit hit the fan. The last thing Pam wanted was to pull Nate into her drama.
She may give him crap but she really did think he was a decent guy. She just needed to protect herself and her heart. Besides she wasn’t sure that New York would be home for too long after all. Luca was losing his damn mind right now and he would lose it even more if he knew she was right under his nose. Uri promised to keep that fact to himself for as long as he could. Pam was grateful for that.
“We both know why I am here and we both know that you are what I want. As far as screwing me, we can do that later. Bobby and Paige will be here soon,” Nate’s eyes roamed over her body. “Don’t you think you should change for dinner?”
“Ugh, you drive me crazy,” Pam growled. “Wait, I’m supposed to be having dinner with my sister. She didn’t say anything about you or Bobby.”
“Are you going to let me in Pam,” Nate tilted his head at her giving that panty melting smile of his.
“No,” Pam said just above a whisper as she fell into a trance within his brown eyes. Are those green flakes, she thought as she chewed on her lip and watched his eyes sparkle back at her.
Nate moved in closer and cupped her face. “Maybe I should greet you properly and then you will be more receptive,” Nate said before leaning down to capture her lips before she could protest.
The moment his lips touched Pamela’s she lost all fight. She couldn’t even remember why she wanted to fight. He smelled and taste so good. His mouth tasted like a combination of mint and citrus.
As his tongue plunged in and out of her mouth she whimpered with the need to get closer to him. As if reading her mind Nate grabbed her hips and lifted her up into him. He stepped over the threshold and kicked the door closed with his expensive shoes.
It had not been lost on Pam how good he looked in his sexy gray tailor made suit. It fit the man like a glove hugging all the right places. His crisp white shirt made it seem like his chocolate brown skin was glowing against it. The silk black tie around his neck gave him a distinguished look.
Pam had wanted to wrap her hand around his tie and pull him straight to her bedroom the moment she saw him. It wasn’t looking like such a bad idea now as Nate pinned her to the wall and started to kiss down her neck and shoulder. Pam wrapped her legs around his waist holding on to his head as she threw her head back. She loved the feel of his silky waves under her hands.
Nate was making his way to her breasts when the front door opened and Bobby and Paige stepped through the door. Pam drew in a sharp breath as her eyes flew open wide and her cheeks warmed. She saw her sister standing there with a stunned look on her face and Bobby stood behind her with a sly smile on his lips.
“Oh my God,” Pam gasped as she pushed at Nate’s chest, dropping her feet back to the floor.
Nate just smiled down at her and pecked her on the lips. “Go get ready we have reservations for six,” Nate said smoothly.
Pam folded her arms across her chest. “I never said I was going to dinner with you,” she snapped.
“Actually, it was my idea,” Paige said with a small smile. “Bobby told me that he and Nate were meeting up so I thought we could all just go out to get a bite together and then you and I could come back here and hang out.”
“Next time ask me first,” Pam hissed at her sister and then felt bad as she saw the tears swimming in Paige’s eyes. Shoot I have to remember she’s pregnant, Pam thought and sighed. Her sister was so sensitive lately. This was going to take some getting used to. “Fine, don’t worry about it Paige. I just need to change and I’ll be right out. You guys help yourselves to whatever.”
“I’ll come with you,” Paige said with a beaming smile.
Pam rolled her eyes she knew her sister just wanted the scoop on what was going on with Nate. Paige leaned up on her toes to kiss Bobby on the cheek and then followed her sister to what used to be her old room. She winked at Nate as she passed him and he gave her a mischievous smile. Paige loved the idea of her sister dating Nate.
He was a great guy and she had really enjoyed getting to know him in the last few weeks. He had been there for her on the island and she would never forget that. Paige also loved the way Nate was always there for Bobby. He had been around for the move and whenever Bobby called him up for even the smallest thing Nate had shown up at the house.
Nate was also great with his own family. Something Paige had learned since moving into the mansion and being neighbors with Nate’s family. She didn’t think her sister could find a better match. She’d noticed before the way the two of them looked at each other. Camille had been hinting around about the two but now Paige was sure she was going to corner Camille about what she really knew if her sister didn’t start to spill.
As they stepped into t
he bedroom and Pamela made her way to the closet Paige pushed the door closed and made her way to sit on the bed. Her hand unconsciously moved to her barely there baby bump. With a smile on her lips she watched her twin as Pam nervously rummage through her clothes.
“Okay Pam, I have let a lot slide because I have just been so happy to have you around but don’t think I haven’t noticed something is really off with you,” Paige pressed her lips in thought. “And I know it is not just whatever is going on with you and Nate. Don’t waste either of our time lying to me either.”
Pamela sighed and rested her head against the clothes hanging in front of her. “I messed up, P,” Pam started. Pamela turned and moved to sit next to Paige. “I haven’t been truthful about not seeing anyone. I just didn’t know how to explain my relationship to mom and dad, so I thought it would be better to pretend I was too busy to see anyone. I guess I should have known something wasn’t right when I had to hide the fact that I was in a relationship. I guess I always knew something was off.”
“Wait, let me get this right. You were seeing someone in London,” Paige said with furrowed brows. She was a little hurt her sister hadn’t shared this fact with her. She knew they had drifted apart a little but this stung.
Pamela turned to face her and looked her in the eyes. “It’s complicated. I know I tease you about being picky and prudish but I understand why you have been the way you are. I know what happened with Eric so I get it. I talk a good one but I haven’t had much more experience than you.”
Pamela blushed and then laughed. “Well in some ways I don’t have more experience than you,” she licked her lips and wiggled her brows.
“You’re just nasty you little freak,” Paige laughed.
“Hey, I bet your husband is thanking me for all the tricks I taught you with those popsicles and bananas,” Pam laughed.
“Oh my gosh, you are so crazy,” Paige laughed. “But yeah, if I ever told him you taught me what I know you may end up with a new car or two.”
“Girl I have some new tricks when you’re ready,” Pam beamed.
“Pammy, I know what you’re doing. Come on, what happened with this guy. I know it’s not good,” Paige sighed returning to a serious expression.
Pamela wiped the single tear away and shrugged. “He was engaged. The whole time we were together he knew he was going to marry someone else and he never told me. It’s supposed to be an arranged marriage but he’s known all this time. I feel so stupid. I left. He bought me a flat that we shared. After he dropped that bomb on me I left. I knew he would be back and I know that he is going to keep searching for me until he finds me but I couldn’t stay there with all that humiliation. I’m nobody’s side chick.”
“Oh Pam, I had no idea, but wait where does Nate fit into all of this,” Paige asked in confusion.
“I’m an idiot,” Pam groaned and fell back against the bed. “I got drunk the night of your wedding and he found me out on the beach crying about my stupidity. You know how he is,” Pam flailed her hands about. “He is so easy to just open up to. I spilled everything and I sort of mentioned I wish I could make it all go away. You know erase Luca’s touch.”
Paige turned to gape at her sister when she paused and just stared up at the ceiling. “Paige, the man didn’t just erase Luca’s touch. He erased Luca period and scrambled my brain in the process. I was always scared to be me with Luca. Like all the nasty shit I want would freak him out. I mean he pushed the limits at times but Nate,” Pam sighed.
“I didn’t have to hide or hold back and neither did he. If I’d met him at any other time in my life I would be chasing him down like a crack pipe. I just can’t bring him into my mess. I have my own trust issues now and Luca can be a fucking lunatic.”
“Well damn Pam,” Paige breathed and rubbed her forehead in thought. “I don’t know this Luca person but I do know Nate. I don’t think your drama will scare him away so easily. I think you should give him a chance. I almost missed out on a good thing because I couldn’t see pass my own face and drama. Nate is a great guy.”
“Yeah, I think you might be right about him being a good guy but if he is he really doesn’t deserve my crazy mess,” Pam pouted.
“Why not let him decide that,” Paige shrugged.
“I don’t know Paige. You know how we can read people. Nate has secrets. I can see them in his eyes,” Pam frowned. “And this is why I’m an idiot. I knew Luca had secrets. I don’t think I can enter another relationship were I just ignore shit.”
“Come on Pam,” Paige nudged her sister, “you are never the one to give up. I see the way you look at Nate. Don’t make my same mistakes. I wasted so much time doubting Bobby. So what this Luca took advantage of you being lonely and vulnerable across the ocean from your family.
“Because I am sure that’s what really happened. It’s his loss that he didn’t cherish what he had. Let him come for you. You won’t be waiting for him. I know that whatever Nate’s secrets maybe they are not the kind that will hurt you.
“Nate was ready to kick Bobby’s ass for me when things got crazy with that nut. Trust that is big, those two are thick as thieves, but he wasn’t going to let Bobby’s cheating on me go over without consequences. But that’s not who either of them are, he wouldn’t disrespect you like that.”
“Let’s say you’re right here, little sis. Nate could be a great guy but Luca is a loose cannon. Things are about to get crazy in a few days when his cousin Uri arrives in the States,” Pamela said in frustration.
“Have you seen Nate? I think he can handle himself,” Paige chuckled.
Pam sighed and sat up. “Okay fine, that giant has one shot. If he can handle my psycho ex showing up and my issues then he’s a keeper,” Pam snorted.
“Please girl, I saw how he had you pinned to that wall. This Luca needs to stay wherever he is because love don’t live here anymore as far as he is concerned. Nate didn’t erase him he obliterated him,” Paige laughed.
“Oh girl, you have no idea,” Pam said biting her lip and squeezing her thighs together.
“Sis, come on let’s get you dressed so that man can see what he is about to fight for,” Paige gushed.
“Thanks Paige, I really did miss you,” Pam said with tears in her eyes.
“I missed you too,” Paige said letting her own tears spill over and hugging her sister tight. “By the way, I’ll start ringing the bell from now on.”
They both burst into laughter.

“So how are things going with Pam,” Bobby asked with a crooked smile. “It seems you are not wasting anytime.”
“I guess birds of a feather flock together. It’s only been two months since your royal screw up at Desire. Look at you now, a married man,” Nate teased.
“You and I both know that I have been in love with that woman for years now. If you thought I was going to give her a chance to run from me anymore than she already has you have officially lost your mind,” Bobby laughed.
“I hear you. Well I haven’t felt this way in…,” Nate paused and frowned. He shook his head. “Nope never felt like this. I can’t get her out of my head.”
“Well what about this situation you asked me to look into. Luca… really of all people she could have fallen in with. I mean I like the guy well enough but I have seen and heard about him losing it. Then there is his shadow Uri. That man’s hands have reach I have never seen before,” Bobby said with a frown of concern.
“Yeah tell me about it. Uri is really what I am most worried about. Luca is just a spoiled punk. Uri on the other hand sets things in motion from another continent and his own family is too scared of him to bring him to the States permanently,” Nate said and stroked his chin in thought.
“That’s saying a lot giving their family business and history. I’ve gotten Luca’s father out of some sticky situation more than once,” Bobby replied.
“Well if she is pregnant I could give a fuck who is coming after her. Uri, Luca, the whole Donati family. To
be honest I don’t care one way or the other. She belongs to me now. I’m just as scary as Uri. I’ll put him down faster than his punk ass cousin can send him to do his dirty work,” Nate said with a stern expression on his face.
“Uri is a calculated man. It may seem like the family pulls his strings but it is more to it than that. I have come to know him as his own man. Yes, he favors that impulsive cousin of his, but he is a man of reason. He will not just come for her because Luca throws a tantrum. At least not with his guns blazing,” Bobby reassured his friend. “Give me just one more day and I will have some answers for you.”
“Thanks,” Nate sighed.
“Now about this baby,” Bobby whispered with a smile. “Do you really think she’s pregnant?”
“It’s more than possible. After the first condom broke I was curious. I found at least one more that we used that night with a hole in it,” Nate said and frowned at his own thoughts.
This was another mystery he had yet to get around to. He hadn’t said anything to Pamela. He didn’t want to freak her out. He knew he was clean. The family business required quarterly check-ups. He’d just passed his check-up with flying colors.
It was just nagging at him that those condoms had broken. Sure it could have been a bad batch, but he just knew that wasn’t the case. There had just been too much else going on for him to really think about it.
“Did she provide the condoms or you?” Bobby asked in his lawyerly tone.
“I did. Come on Bobby. Pam isn’t the type. I know what you are thinking. Besides I don’t think she found out about my financial status until we returned to New York. That is if she even read the papers about the wedding. She still may not know,” Nate responded.
“Just asking, it wouldn’t be the first time someone has tried something like this with one of us,” Bobby shrugged.
“Well, don’t you let her ever hear you say something like that,” Nate chuckled. “She’d have you by the nuts before you could blink.”
Bobby threw his head back and laughed. “Don’t I know it, better you than me.”
