“You’re right, but we have no electronic tracking of Travis. Nothing to say he’s paying for these items. Electronically he almost doesn’t exist.” Which makes me wonder, is Travis alone? He has to be doing all this alone. Who would be dumb enough to help him?

We almost have all the roses in boxes when the door opens. Shit, Cara. She looks around the room and then to the boxes at Nate’s feet. “Roses, he brought roses into my room.” She looks tired and upset. I pull her into my arms, but she shoves me.

Cara tilts her head looking at her computer. I don’t see anything when I look, but she turns to the bookshelves. She’s searching for something. There’s a book that she reaches for on a high shelf. Tyler grabs the book and hands it to her. When she opens the book to what I think is a bookmarked page she drops it.

The scene unfolds like when someone is trying to be smart with a deck of cards. The person is shuffling the cards and makes a mistake. The mistake results in a fifty-two card pick up. As Cara’s book falls to the floor, so do a bunch of pictures.

Cara’s eyes are frantic as she begins to gather the pictures. Tyler offers to help, but I hear her scream. “No! Why are there pictures of me?” I drop to my knees to help comfort her.

“Cara stop. He must have bugged my office. I will find the camera,” I say pulling her in tight to my chest as she begins to cry. I hate this. I never wanted her to know about the picture. “How did you know something was in the book?” I ask as Tyler picks up the mess, again.

“I left the book next to the computer. I began reading that one today. I wanted to make sure I read the book before I watched the show. The book was moved.” She’s good at remembering where things are.

“Cara, do you want me to shred the pictures or burn them?” Tyler asks her with a laugh in his voice.

“Can I burn them? Can I burn all of this? The pictures and the flowers.” I have a fire pit in the back yard. Maybe letting her burn the items will help.

“Okay, let’s go.” We walk outside, and I light the pit. I watch Cara toss in the photo’s first. She never once looked at them all. Then she starts tossing in the roses. I don’t like the calm look on her face. Tyler is handing her the flowers while Nate and Jessica watch.

“This might be good for her.” I honestly don’t know if Jessica is right. Cara reaches into the box and flinches. She starts to rub her hand on her shirt. I leave Jessica and take Cara’s hand. She’s done. Even Tyler realizes that she’s done.

She has some pricks from the thorns. Nate drowns the fire. Both him and Jessica leave. Jessica tells me that I can handle things from here. Tyler leaves as well with the remaining items. I find Amber and Ryan still out front.

Amber has reset my security. She says that once she gets back into the office she will need to access the system again. She mentioned that there was something she spotted that’s out of place, and she’s unable to delete it. “I will look into this tomorrow. I think you both need time together.” I thank my sister and go inside with Cara.

  CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

  CARA

“I have you now.” There was a hint of laughter in his voice. The kind of laughter that sounded off and made your skin crawl.

I look around the cold dark room I’m in. There’s no light in the room. I sit on a dirty worn out mattress on the floor. The more I try to see of the room, the more I realize I’m in a basement. I can see Travis is watching me. His eyes piercing me. How did I get here and where is Jordan?

Travis comes over to me. He pulls on a nearby string that lights up the room. I’m definitely in a basement. As Travis gets closer to me, I see blood all over his clothes. I wiggle to remove the blanket covering me. I see no blood on my body.

“The blood isn’t yours Cara. Have you ever wanted to know how to get rid of a body? No one will find him, and now there’s no one to save you.” No one to save me?

I almost jump out of the bed. I’m screaming and covered in sweat. “Cara... sshh I’m here.” I practically jump on Jordan. My hands are searching everywhere on his body. I’m touching, feeling that this, right now, is real. When I place my hand over his heart, I feel the beats.

He sat up to comfort me. I search his eyes and then push him onto his back. I need more. I slide down his body and place my ear over his heart. I hear the beating. This right here is real.

“Cara Mia, my pretty girl, you’re worrying me.” I don’t move. I just listen. “Cara Mia?” Jordan calls me again. I sit up, placing my legs on either side of him.

“I wanted to make sure this was real.” Jordan takes hold of my left hand and brings my scarred fingers to his mouth. He kisses the scars and then lightly nips my fingertips. “Ouch.”

“Must be real if you felt that.” I want to feel more of him. I take off my nightgown and toss it to the floor. I leave my panties on and lay my body over Jordan. I can hear his heart beating. The rise and fall of his chest is comforting.

“Pretty girl, do you want to tell me what your nightmare was about?” I hear his question and try to sync my body to his. Match my breathing with his. Jessica told me earlier that when I matched with her relaxed state the effect should relax me.

“I dreamed again that Travis killed you. That there was no one to save me.” He doesn’t need the entire details of the dream. Jordan moves under me. I adjust so I’m seeing him face to face. Jordan pulls me in for a hug and rolls us.

“Hey, I’m right here. Travis won’t hurt me or get you. You’re safe, Cara Mia.” I should feel like crying, but I don’t. The tears feel all dried up. I do know I want to feel more of him.

“Jordan…I want you” I’m surprised I didn’t whisper. His eyes light up and I lean up to kiss him. When our lips touch, I gasp. I want more. “Jordan I need to feel you, all of you. Please.” I’m begging.

He crushed his lips on mine. The kiss is perfect. I can taste him and feel his tongue against mine. Jordan pulls my knee up higher, running his hand over my thigh and butt. I want more.

“I need more of you Jordan, please. Please, just fuck me.” He stops touching me and taps me lightly on my butt. I cursed, and I don’t care. I push up forcing Jordan to roll off of me. Luckily, I don’t have to ask him to remove his boxers. He still sometimes does the removal in his sleep.

I climb off the bed and remove my panties. Jordan just lies there watching me. I cat crawl onto the bed towards him. “I want you. I want to feel more of you.” I tell him as I place my legs on either side of his body. I’m in the perfect position to take what I want.

I reach down between us and run my fingers through my wetness. I moan when I realize how wet I am. Jordan seems to let out a hiss at me.

“Cara Mia, I believe that’s one of the sexiest things I have ever seen you do.” His eyes are dark blue, and his breathing is heavy. I giggle as I wrap my fingers around his dick. My main attention is on Jordan, who has now closed his eyes.

“Jordan?” He moans and opens his eyes. I have the head of his dick at my entrance. I wait for him to look and the second he does I sink down. “Mmmm.”

I slowly start moving up and down his length, that damn piercing rubbing me in all the right places. I’m beyond aroused and can feel the building of my orgasm. I want to chase the pleasure.

The base of my spine begins to warm up as I move. Jordan puts his hands on my hips to help me, but I remove them and place them above his head. “Don’t touch me, not yet.” My breathing is heavy, and I rock my hips. “Oh.”

The more I rock, the more pleasure I feel. My body starts to tingle, and I know I’m reaching that delicious peak I want. I start to move faster listening to the wonderful noises coming from Jordan.

“I’m…I’m going to...” I say just as I tip over that edge. I’m still riding my orgasm when Jordan sits up. He immediately rolls me onto my back.

“Watching you get off like that is fucking beautiful,” Jordan says, as he slams hard into me. “Think you can do that again?” I only nod. I want everything.

  Jordan kisses me a
s he moves faster in and out of me. That piercing of his is only heightening my already sensitive core. “Jordan…Oh, my…” He cuts me off by kissing me. I can only moan into his mouth as his tongue moves in the same fashion as his dick.

I don’t honestly know if I can cum again, but my body keeps heating up. I grip onto his shoulder.

“Jordan,” I plead with him. He kisses my neck right below my ear and kisses down. I turn my head allowing him more access to my neck. I like how he goes from kisses, to sucking and nibbling on my neck.

I clench my core as I feel more of my wetness.

“Fuck. Cara, you feel so fucking good.” His words whisper in my ear. Jordan pulls my knee up and holds it with his elbow. His dick is deeper inside me and each time he pulls back he’s rubbing his piercing against that sensitive spot.

I begin matching his thrusts. Rocking each time he pushes into me. My whole body feels on fire. There’s sweat on his neck, and I can’t help but want a taste. I drag my tongue up and down his neck. My orgasm is coming, and I fear it might be too much.

  “Jordan.”

“Cum with me Cara.” I break at his words. My leg he is holding is shaking. Jordan thrusts a few more times then sinks deep inside me. I feel his dick twitch and him release. I can feel his warmth fill me. He growls his pleasure by my ears. “Pretty girl, don’t be upset with me, but I gave you a hickey.” He laughs.

“I don’t care. I will just say you gave me a love bite.” We both laugh as Jordan pulls out of me. I’m saddened by the loss of him. He gets a warm washcloth and cleans me up. This tends to be a routine for late night sex. Jordan heads into the bathroom when he’s done with me and is gone for a minute or two.

He crawls back into bed with me. I don’t wait to be pulled into his embrace. I tangle my body with his. “I hope I’m not making you uncomfortable.”

“Never pretty girl. There’s no place I’d rather be than right next to you.” I fall asleep fast and don’t have another nightmare.

We spend the next few days at the house. Well, not every day, stuck in the house. I’m however stuck with Jordan. When he works upstairs, I can only be downstairs for a little bit of time. He will yell at me if he can’t hear me. I don’t mind any of this. I understand my safety is important.

Today is Wednesday, and I’m supposed to meet with my half-sister Bridgett for lunch. Jordan has a meeting, so he’s sending me with Tyler. I feel like I need a babysitter.

“You sure you’re okay tagging along with me?” I ask as I attempt to climb into Tyler’s lifted truck.

“More than okay, beautiful. I actually volunteered to take you.” Tyler’s hands fall on my hips as he helps me into the truck. He closes the door and walks around the front.

  “Why?”

“I could have sat in on the meeting, or volunteer to take you. Jordan needs to talk with everyone in the office. I don’t need to be there because we spoke about everything yesterday. Plus, you’re safe with me.” I still find this odd that he volunteered.

Tyler helps me out of his truck when we arrive at the restaurant. I feel like I need to ask more questions, but I don’t. Bridgett’s already inside when we walk through the doors.

“Cara, I’m glad you could come.” Me too.

“Oh, Bridgett this is Tyler. My babysitter for the day.” I laugh at him.

“Cara you’re not funny, and if you’re calling me a babysitter, is that what you called Jordan?” I pout because no I don’t.

“No.” I cross my arms over my chest.

“Good because I think you would be in trouble if I told him you said that.” He turns to Bridgett who is blushing, and offers his hand. “Hi Bridgett.” Am I witnessing a connection between Bridgett and Tyler?

I can’t help when I begin giggling to myself. Tyler turns to me and cocks his head to the side. “What’s so funny beautiful?”

“Nothing,” I say with a big Cheshire cat smile on my face. I finally relax when we are seated at the table. Lunch goes well.

Bridgett keeps the conversation to small talk. She never brings up why Tyler is really with me. I’m thankful for that. I hate knowing I cannot go anywhere without protection. Jordan thinks Travis is still in town.

“I see you have Grandma’s watch.” I forget that I’m wearing the pocket watch. I always put the watch back on after I shower.

“Yeah, Dad gave the watch to me as a gift. Is that okay?” I hope I have not offended her. I never even took the time to think what my sister would say about something like this.

“Absolutely! That watch looks ten times better on you than the only time I wore it. See the difference between you and me is your tan and I’m pale. The antique gold looks great against your skin. You deserve to own the watch. You’re family now.”

“Thanks.” We sit eating and talking. Bridgett and I actually get into a small dispute over the bill. I lost. I told her I could pay for lunch.

“I invited you out. Let this be my treat,” she states as she rips the receipt out of my hand.

“Well, let me pay for Tyler then. You didn’t expect him to be here with us.” Which by now I have noticed Tyler is gone from the table. I look around to see him at the bar talking to our waitress. What a jerk, he flirts with my sister, and then flirts with the waitress.

I stop paying attention to Tyler when a group of ladies heated conversation buzzes in my ears. I turn to the group of ladies and see Niki with her daughter. She notices me looking at her. I do the only polite thing I can and smile. Niki says something quietly to the ladies she’s with and gets up from her table.

“Cara,” She speaks walking towards me. I look at Bridgett trying to ask for help with my eyes instead of my words.

“What can we do for you Ms. Niki?” Thankfully Bridgett speaks for me. I feel very uncomfortable in Niki’s presence.

“Cara, I wanted to see if you and I could possibly talk on Saturday? Get some coffee. I would like to personally offer you an apology for the recent events.” I sit there thinking about what she has just told me.

Do I want her to apologize to me? Do I deserve the apology or does Jordan? Would I even want Jordan to be around her? I can sense some tension in the air which that tells me that Tyler has returned. I think I know what I should do.

“Okay, on a few conditions. Coffee is fine. I won’t be alone, and I will not ask Jordan to be with me. I don’t feel okay having you two in the same room.” I pause and think before speaking again. “Tyler, would you be okay going with me?” I ask almost ashamed to be doing so.

“Anything you want beautiful.” I don’t understand my body reaction right now. I feel sick. There’s a cold, tight knot in my stomach. Something isn’t right.

“Okay, Saturday about 10:00 am.” She agrees and then rejoins her table. I’m thankful that is over. I want to leave. For some reason, my gut tells me I need to see Jordan.

The waitress stops by the table and Bridgett proceeds to hand over her card to pay for lunch. “Oh, your bill was taken care of by him.” We’re both surprised by her confession. I made a mistake. Tyler wasn’t flirting with her, he was paying.

“You two were busy arguing over the bill, so I figured I should handle it.” I roll my eyes at him.

“Let me pay you back,” I offer.

“No, Jordan would kick my ass. Although…” He’s now talking to Bridgett. She begins to pull out money. “A kiss on the cheek.” The look on her face is priceless, shock and awe. I watch her cheeks turn a pretty pink.

Bridgett is hesitant to kiss him. When she does, Tyler turns and her lips meet his. I have to force myself to start walking out of the restaurant. I want to laugh because that was cute and awesome. I just don’t want my reaction to come off rude.

Tyler’s behind me a moment later. He looks very pleased with himself. “If I didn’t know any better. I would think you have a crush on my sister.”

“Yes, I do beautiful. Yes, I do.” I just laugh, and Tyler laughs with me. He seems very happy.

  He takes me to the
office. I find out that Jordan had a meeting with my Dad and Uncle. Everyone is worried about what happened Friday night.

Jordan’s okay with me meeting Niki, under the condition that Tyler is present. Only if Tyler is present.

  CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

  SATURDAY

“What? Wait, slow down Seth what’s happening? What do you mean there’s a bug in our system? Yeah, no, I hear you.” Jordan sounds panicked, and I sit up on the bed. “No, I’m on my way. We need everyone there. The company can’t risk loss of the information in our system.”

Jordan puts down his phone and heads into the closet. “Is everything okay?” He seems extremely worried.

“No, our computer system is going crazy. Seth thinks someone is in the system. I need to go into the office and help fix this.” He throws on a shirt and reaches for his shoes. He’s in a big hurry.

“Should I come with you?” He stops tying his shoes and kisses me.

“No, stay here. Seth confirmed my alarm is still active. You’re safer here.” Great, now I’m grounded. Jordan reaches for the gun he has been keeping with him all week.

I learned that the guys were told to keep their weapons hidden from me. It was in an attempt to not scare me any more than what Travis had already done. This week changed all that.

“Wait. I’m supposed to have coffee with Niki today.” Jordan runs his hand through his hair and sighs.

“Have her come here, but wait for Tyler to get here. I don’t want you alone with her.” I relax, and Jordan kisses me again, then he’s gone.

I text Niki the new plans and she’s okay with them. I still tell her to be at the house around ten. Tyler mentioned when I called him that ten should still work.

I have some time to waste, and I amuse myself by getting ready. I pick out a light green and yellow dress, and clean up. I know there’s nothing special about today, but I’m bored. I put on a little bit of makeup. Just mascara and a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen.
