Consumed By You Page 10

by Alicia Marino

“Yes,” he hisses. The dance begins. When he moves, I move. We’re in perfect sync. His strokes are searching and deep, massaging the quivering tissues of my sex as we let go of our inhibitions. Grabbing a fistful of his hair, I bring his face to mine, desperate to kiss him. Our lip lock is brutally savage, his teeth clamping down on my lower lip as he pulls. It sends electric shocks straight to my clenched, dripping apex.

Who knew there was pleasure like this in this life?

“I could fuck you all day,” he growls.

  Fine by me.

He took the words right out of my mouth, honestly. As the butterflies build in my belly, I grind my hips onto his cock faster, fearing my body will give out any moment from the shaking. He follows, meeting my rolling hips with every thrust.

“Oh my…Oh my god—” Words are lost as I spiral into my orgasm, sending him into his.

“Ah, god. Darcy.” Benjamin stiffens, overcome with pleasure as well.

Basking in the post-coital afterglow, I’m comforted by the heavy weight of him as he settles down onto me and he rests his forehead against mine, exhaling wildly. This man really is a machine.

When he raises his eyes to meet mine, I feel a quick moment of panic, worried what his expression will be like this time. I never want to see the detached daze I experienced the first time we slept together ever again. I’m overwhelmed by what I see now.

His gorgeous green eyes aren’t clouded, nor are they wary. He looks rather contented.

I can’t help the twisting, exquisite pain in my chest as he moves me to his side with gentle hands, curling himself against my back. Within minutes, he’s asleep and I’m left in wonder.

This is a completely different man. Did my leaving really make him want to change this much?

  I’d like to believe so.

  CHAPTER NINE

I wake up abruptly to a deafening alarm. Benjamin jumps at the noise as well. He reaches a long arm across me and the irritating sound thankfully disappears. He raises his head off my chest and meets my eyes with a cheeky grin.

I hope I look all right.

“Morning.” He rubs his hand over his face. When he shifts, my nakedness is revealed and I cover myself, my face heating up like wildfire. It’s daytime and the sun shining in his windows is undeniably bright.

The corner of his mouth lifts, and I know my move didn’t go unnoticed. “I’m sorry,” he says. “It seems I’m a cover hog.”

Taking some off of him, he drapes it over me. I’m eternally grateful. He lays back, stretching, and I’m unable to tear my attention from his rippling abdomen. I don’t think there is anyone who can rock bedhead like Ben.

I try to find words to speak so I’m not ogling him like a complete idiot. “You’re lucky your body is warm or I would have thrown you right off.”

“Oh, would you? And in my own bed? It is my first time sharing it with someone. You could show a little mercy.”

“You’ve never slept in a bed with someone?” I fail to hide how stunned I am by that admission.

“No. I told you I’ve never gotten close to someone like that.”

“But surely you’ve fallen asleep with someone somewhere? Even if for a night?”

  “No.”

I tilt my head quizzically. “Why not?”

  “I don’t…I haven’t…”

My heart rate picks up as I realize by his rigidness that I’ve gone too far.

This man has just spent the night with you! Stop fucking this up!

“You don’t have to answer that, really. I’m sorry.” In order to alleviate the awkward tension, I stand, pulling the sheet around me as I attempt to give him some space.

“Where are you going?” he asks.

I pick up my bra on the way into his master bathroom. “I have to get home to get ready for work.” I shut the door.

I barely drop the sheet before the door opens suddenly and I jump back. Snatching the cover off the floor, I pull it up to shield myself from him.

  Damn! Does he knock?

“Why? You have clothes here.” He crosses his arms and leans against the doorway, completely nude.

I wish I was that comfortable with my body.

  Clothes here?

  Oh, that’s right. My luggage.

“You want me to go to work straight from here?”

“Why not? We could have breakfast together.” His eyes are moving down my concealed body and my heart rate picks up, noticing the devilish twinkle in his eye that promises a good time. I know that look. He stalks over to my now-rigid body and I’m paralyzed.

“Why are you hiding from me?” He places his hands on my cheeks.

“I-I have to brush my teeth.” I try to back up.

“Don’t hide.” He removes his hands from my face and places them on top of the cover. They remain there while his eyes bore into mine, asking permission. Unable to help myself, I grant him the green light and my fingers loosen on the sheet. He lets it fall and I’m standing before him naked and the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been in my life. He can see everything. Every flaw…every scar.

He pulls me flush against him and our lips connect as if magnets, desperate to find the other. He trails his fingers like feathers over my hipbones and it’s as if he’s burning me, leaving his mark.

  Oh yes.

I’m against the glass of the largest shower I’ve ever beheld and his morning erection is pressing hard into my stomach.

  Holy shit.

“I want you,” he growls, digging his fingers into my flesh. When he wanders downward, tickling my inner thighs, I ungracefully bang my head against the glass and it hurts, but I’m too focused on my pleasure to care. His tongue is at the base of my throat, caressing the dip to my shoulder. It only takes seconds to drag me into the shower with him.

I’ve never showered with anyone before. How does this go?

I hope I don’t make too much of a fool of myself.

While he turns the knob on the shower to get the water warm, I let myself appreciate the unabashedly masculine physique just a few inches away from me. He looks like something straight out of a steamy romance novel. A dark prince or something. The warm water cascading over his body, he reaches for me, and I’m pulled into the fantasy.

The goose bumps on my skin fade as the water trickles onto me, but they quickly reappear when I stare at the striking man in front of me. His mussed waves frame the angles of his face, the natural light from the windows making his green eyes brighter, a lovely contrast to his pale skin.

“You’re beautiful,” I utter, unable to tear my gaze off his face.

His lips turn up in appreciation and he lets out a deep exhale. His mouth, soft as silk, hovers over mine, barely touching. His eyes remain open, watching me with pleasure.

I want to kill him for teasing me. Why does he torture me this way?

  “Turn around.”

I hesitate momentarily and I guess I’m too slow because he turns me suddenly, pinning the front of my body to the glass. Well, fuck. His long fingers are spread out on my neck, holding me in place while his other hand travels down…Oh my. I shiver beneath him. His repeated coaxing to my heat has me moaning, loudly.

“Mm. Let me hear you.” He nips my shoulder and then eases the sting with his tongue. “Do you want me?”

  “Yes.”

  His hand stops moving.

  No!

“I didn’t hear that.” I hear his grin.

“Yes!” I cry out and I hear a triumphant chuckle, then his thick erection is against my backside. In one swift movement, he positions himself ideally and thrusts himself so hard into me that my knees buckle, and I am barely able to stand straight.

I see stars, blindly reaching up to grasp his forearm wrapped around my chest, holding me in place as he pounds into me repeatedly. He continues torturously, uttering dirty eroticisms into my ear, and I have to lean my head against my free arm to sustain my balance on the glass cage.

  “Turn for me, baby.”
He groans, pulling out suddenly. I’m only too happy to oblige and spin to face him. He gathers me in his arms and scoops me off the shower floor, plunging into me. I wrap my legs around him for support. He doesn’t even look like it’s phasing him that he’s fucking a woman in midair without so much as skipping a beat in our rough rhythm.

“Yes,” he hisses, his lips crushing mine.

I feel the building low in my stomach, like bees buzzing, and moan into his mouth. This pleasure is going to consume me. I can’t move. I can’t think.

“Oh my god!” I cry as he shifts his thrusts and catapults me into my orgasm. With two more pumps of his cock, he releases himself with a choked gasp. His face contorts with some sort of pained pleasure. He drops his head against my quivering chest, gasping.

  Morning sex. I like it.

  ***

We’re on our way to work in his car. His thumb is tracing the lines on my palm and both of us are contentedly silent. My nerves are going wild in my stomach. I don’t know how things are going to go today.

What are people going to say? Will everyone think I got this job just because I’m dating the boss?

Of course that’s what they’re going to think. I only started working for this man a few weeks ago.

“What are you thinking?” Benjamin asks, breaking the silence.

“I’m wondering what work is going to be like.”

“It’s going to be fine. Just like any other day.”

  ***

Kate eyes us from her desk with suspicion when we exit the elevator together. I’m feeling a lot more uncomfortable than I expected to, although I don’t know if it’s the look of disbelief on her face or the huddled conversations around us I couldn’t hear as we walked through the lobby that have made my stomach fall.

“Good morning, Mr. Scott. Miss Fontaine,” she greets us when we pass her.

“Morning,” Benjamin and I say in unison.

  God, this is awkward.

We part ways with a brief glance. He heads into his office, and I head into mine. As soon as I take my seat, the black phone on my desk rings.

  Remain calm, Fontaine.

  “Yes, Kate?”

“Are you honestly sleeping with him already?” she accuses and I gape into the phone, unable to speak.

  “Where did you hear that?”

  “So it’s true?”

I may be mistaken, but it sounds like there’s resentment behind her words.

“I’m coming out there.” I hang up immediately and ring Benjamin’s line.

  “Yeah?”

“Kate just called me and asked me if I’m sleeping with you.”

After a pause on his end, he says, “That’s unprofessional. How would she know?”

“I don’t know. I’m going out to talk to her.” My mind clouds, focused on the disapproval I’ve received since entering the building. “I-I’m not sure I want her to know about us yet.”

“Why? We don’t have to hide. I own the company, Darcy. It’s not like we can get into trouble.”

“Ben, I just don’t think I want anyone to know yet. I just started here.”

“You were completely fine with it yesterday.”

I hear a defensiveness in his voice and grimace, only truly now realizing the importance of our privacy.

“I’m going to talk to her then.”

  “Fine.”

Opening my door, I walk over to Kate, breathing in deeply to brace myself for whatever is coming next. “Who told you I was sleeping with him?”

“The doorman. He saw you two yesterday walking out together. You were holding hands. He also saw you two pretty close in his limo.” She glares. “Everyone knows. The whole building.”

The expression on her face is a mixture between disgust and loathing. This woman was honestly the sweetest girl I’d ever met yesterday.

A thought dawns on me…what if she’s wanted Benjamin?

“It’s written all over your face, Darcy. Wow, not even a month in…”

I have the biggest urge to slap her. “You’re stepping over the line, Kate.”

“I don’t like people that try to get ahead in life by sleeping their way to the top, Darcy. And I’ll let you in on a little secret—not many people do.”

My eyes widen in disbelief. This is a completely different person than the one I talked to yesterday. Not wanting to say something I’ll regret, I turn back for my office.

I fall into my chair and drop my head into my hands. God, I have a headache.

I told Ben this wasn’t going to work, me working with him.

  ***

The uneasy feeling still remains by lunchtime. Benjamin has been in a meeting all morning so I haven’t been able to talk to him about what happened earlier. I didn’t get to stop at home to make lunch so I have to go out. I’m walking into the break room with a smoothie and a sandwich when I notice the entire place is full. Dammit, does everyone eat at this time?

I look around for a friendly face but see none. Everyone in the room is either staring with disdain or with disinterest while the rest of the group seems hypnotized by their paper plates.

I had no idea it was such a crime to have sex. Kate is there, and by the look on her face she was probably just talking about me.

I raise my head high and take the first empty chair I see.

There’s a girl and a guy at the table. They’re both looking down at their food, not speaking. “Hi,” I say. “I’m Darcy.”

People are back to chatting with each other and the room is no longer silent. I, however, seem to be talking to myself since neither of the two answer my greeting.

I take two bites out of my sandwich, tasting cardboard. Unable to take it anymore, I throw out the rest of my meal. As soon as I exit the room, I hear snickers. Cringing, I practically run back to my office. I’m struggling to keep my composure and complete my work when Alexander fills the doorway.

“You’re sleeping with my brother?” he growls, his teeth clenched tight.

I sigh and look up at him. “We’re seeing each other. There’s a difference.”

“My brother doesn’t date, Darcy. He never has, so I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but you’re living in a fairy tale world if you think he’s going to change.” He shuts the door and strides in, sitting down in the chair in front of my desk. “I don’t blame you for getting caught in his web. I mean, he’s your boss, he has money, and—”

I glare at him in shock. “I’d never be with him for his money, Alex.”

“All women say that. They don’t mean it.” He shakes his head. “So you were just gonna go after both of us? Is that your game?”

“I never said I was going to be with you, Alex.”

“You sure fucking made it seem like it in Seattle! You told me to call you.” He crosses his arms and leans back. I don’t understand the look of betrayal in his eyes.

“I was drunk and upset. I like you. You’re an amazing guy, but—”

“This is exactly why I don’t try to form serious relationships. Something always happens to destroy my faith in them.” He stands, shaking his head angrily. “I’ll see you later.”

  “Alex, I don’t understand—”

He yanks opens the door but falls back a step when he notices Benjamin leaning against the wall, his head down. Alexander storms past him into the hallway.

Benjamin doesn’t say anything to me. He just stands straight and goes back into his office, while my mind struggles to comprehend what just happened.

I force myself out of my office to Benjamin’s double doors. I take a deep breath and knock softly.

  “Come in.”

I open the door slowly and see him standing, staring out the window. His suit jacket is gone now.

“None of that was what you think, Benjamin.”

“I think it’s exactly what I think.” His voice is eerily quiet.

  “And that is?”

“I think you do this a lot.” He exhales loudly, finally turning to look
at me with fiery loathing in his eyes. “Tell me, if I hadn’t given into this fucking charade of a relationship, how long would it have taken you to run to my brother? What is it? Status? Money? Is it sex that makes you do this?”

“Excuse me?” I gasp, taking a step back. “You know what? I never told your brother I was ever even interested in him. He hit on me!”

“I just fired my best employee in the finance department because I heard him talking about what happened in the break room. You had me completely fooled. Honestly.”

I’m out of breath. My knees are aching I’m so rigid.

“You know I’m not after your money or status! How could you even say that?”

“You did a fantastic job, and now,” he chuckles darkly, “you can get out. You’re fired. Effective immediately.”

  “B-Ben—” I stutter, stunned.

“It’s Mr. Scott to you. Get out. I will have Dimitri drop your luggage off later tonight.” He dismisses me and sits, picking up paperwork.

I spin around, feeling as if someone’s suffocating me. I need to get out of here.

I grip the door handle so I can control myself enough to say one last thing to him. “This is you. Afraid. Afraid of what you feel for me, and that’s why you’re doing this! You know how much I care about you, but you’re too much of a coward to just fucking accept your feelings! I’ve never once made any indication that I wanted anything out of this relationship except you. You were all I wanted.” My vision is blurred by the scalding tears in my eyes.

I’m staring at him but he refuses to look up at me.

  Whatever. It doesn’t matter.

I open the door and shut it quietly. As soon as I close my office door, my entire body starts to tremble, tears flooding down my cheeks. I look around the office in a daze. I don’t even have anything that belongs to me. I just need to get out of here.

I snatch my purse from the drawer, and with one last glimpse around, close the door, not bothering a second glance in the direction of my former boss’s office.
