Haldor yanked her back onto her stomach. His hand came down on her bottom, fast and hard. Three stern wallops that left her gasping for breath.

“Do not move again, Selena. Or the next time I’ll take you across my lap and spank you until you swear you won’t disobey me further.”

Once the shock wore off, the pain set in. He’d set her backside on fire with just those few whacks, left her seared and shaking.

Haldor nudged her thighs apart. He got down on his knees between her legs and dug his fingers into her stinging bottom cheeks, spreading them apart. She felt his tongue again, working its way down the cleft between her buttocks, coming ever closer to her anus.

She shuddered. How could he do something so vile, so disgusting? Then one hand curled its way around under her body. A finger slid through the curls between her legs. Stroked along the lips of her pussy, running up to graze the tiny bud bursting with nerve endings. The now-familiar rush tore through her, sending the heat he’d raised on her bottom coursing deep into her belly.

She moaned, grinding her hips against the bed. Seeking his finger, desperate to have it stroke her clitoris again.

It happened so fast she didn’t have time to react. One moment she was writhing there on the bed, on her stomach, legs splayed apart. The next her face was pressed against his thigh, her bottom draped across his lap.

His cock strained up against her, hot and stiff, hard as his voice. “You haven’t learned yet, Selena. Your pleasure comes at my whim. Not yours.”

He followed his words with a harsh whack. She cried out and began struggling to get away.

His hand came down again. Selena gasped. He’d spanked her that first night, but then shock and fear had masked the pain. This time, she knew him. Knew this hand. The pleasure it could bring. The gentle caresses. So the fierce burn his broad palm ignited on her tender bottom caused her double the anguish.

“You will learn to obey me, Selena. Now stop struggling. I warn you, this punishment will be far worse if you fight me.”

She froze. With his size, his power, he could do whatever he wanted to her and they both knew it.

“Did I not tell you what would be required of you today?”

“Yes, my lord,” she managed to stammer, fighting back the tears.

He whacked her. Hard. She bit her lip to keep from crying out.

  “Was it an impossible task?”

  “No, my lord.”

“I thought not. You had only to lie still, while I took my pleasure by seeing to yours. I planned to kiss and lick and tongue this luscious ass of yours until you cried out with ecstasy. Now I’m going to make it glow a nice rosy red instead—and then I’ll bury my finger in it while you suck this cock you’ve vexed until I say enough.”

He ground himself up against her as his hand came down hard and fast. Selena let go. Let the tears flow. Her bottom burning and stinging, her pussy flooded with another kind of heat from his cock pressing up against it. Her clitoris throbbing with need every time he rocked his hips back and forth, stroking it wickedly, deliberately, with the whole hot stiff length of him.

By the time he stopped, her body lay limp. He lifted her off his lap and she let him position her any way he pleased.

He had her crouch on her hands and knees. Head down over his crotch with her mouth open, ass facing him. He guided his cock with one hand, then used it to hold her head as she took him in.

His other hand moved down between her legs. Running a finger along the dripping folds of her slit, coating it with slick juices. Then he moved it back, probing the tight entrance to her rear passage. His cock in her mouth muffled her cry of shock.

“Suck me,” he growled, his voice hoarse with need.

She sucked—and his finger invaded her ass. She groaned, fighting it as he worked his way in. She couldn’t scream, couldn’t squirm away. He guided her head up and down his shaft, while his finger invaded her rear channel.

Bottom stinging, clitoris throbbing, pussy dripping, Selena was wild with need. Despite her embarrassment, pain and discomfort disappeared once he breached the tight sphincter, replaced by a tiny flicker of arousal. He probed deeper and the flicker burst into flame. She wanted to scream out loud, but his cock filled her mouth. Haldor mastered her, took her as he pleased. Mouth and ass. Powerless, all she could do was submit.

To her shock, the realization that she was no longer in control sent her flying. Free of all responsibility, all restraints. Her hands gripped his cock tighter, her mouth opened wide. Her burst of fever fueled his passion. The further she took him down her throat, the deeper his finger delved. Opening her to another world of wild sensation, one she’d never known existed. She rocked back, taking him in.

His hand twisted in her hair, holding her head in place. Fucking her mouth with his cock, fucking her ass with his finger.

Selena lost herself. Gave up all thought. Gave in to wicked ravishment, gave way to raw lust. She came hard, shuddering as wave after wave poured over her. Then sucked him harder, feeling his body tighten, begin quivering beneath her. He groaned, rammed his finger inside her and exploded. Her body responded instantly, rocketing her to another climax, even higher than the last.

Wordlessly, he drew her up into his arms, cradling her against his body. Limp, sated, she melted into him.

  Chapter Eight

Selena couldn’t help feeling intimidated. She’d never seen such a huge throng in the Great Hall before. Level after level, each filled with tiers of seats, stretching a hundred stories high. From where she sat, in the fourth row back on the raised dais, she couldn’t even make out a single face in the assembled crowd.

Minister Symon had arranged for a short ceremony honoring her in the opening session of the gathering of the galaxies, the meeting where delegates from every planet in the InterStellar Federation came together to vote on important matters and choose their high council for the coming term. Selena had been in the Great Hall before, but this was the first time she’d attended a gathering.

All morning, well-known hosts from different planets had been roaming through the crowd interviewing delegates from far-off worlds. Each one had a team in place, editing the rough footage to choose the funniest, the wildest, the most heartrending stories of the journeys that led the delegates here. Then during the afternoon, each host presented a short program featuring his or her favorite segments. Or theirs, in the case of the conjoined hermaphrodites from G77v, a crowd favorite according to Symon. He’d been filling her in on bits of trivia like that all day.

Symon leaned over to whisper in her ear. “These little clips are my favorite part of the opening session. You won’t believe some of these creatures! I think Devan, the host who’s on now, deliberately picks out the ugliest beings he can find to interview every time, just to make himself look even better by comparison.” He winced and covered his eyes. “I can hardly bear to look at that one. What are those hideous purple growths all over its face? Oh, dear, look. Everyone from their planet has them. Thank goodness, we don’t live on that miserable rock.”

She sat through endless speeches by heads of various galaxies in the federation, delivered to her in her native language through a small earplug she wore, like most of the delegates. Her Tellex chip was useless here, since it was designed to function in a setting of full immersion, requiring several hours of nonstop exposure to another language. Instead, a huge assembly of translators with functioning Tellex chips, out of sight somewhere below, easily converted the babble of grunts and moans and whistles and varying other sounds she had no name for into fluent speech.

All the while, she tried to tamp down her rising tide of panic. A private person, Selena had never sought out publicity. She hated crowds, disliked public speaking. It took weeks every semester for her to get to the point where she could recognize a few faces in the audience and finally become comfortable in the lecture hall with her large entry-level medical school class. She preferred the smaller advanced-level groups, where she could work one-on-one with the most pr
omising students. A major reason she’d accepted this promotion was that she’d only be required to give one guest lecture a year now to the hundreds of students who entered the bio-medical program each year.

Now, looking out at the mass of beings in front of her, she wasn’t sure she’d be able to deliver her brief thanks without embarrassing herself by standing up in front of everyone and drawing a complete blank. She’d tried to get out of this ceremony, but Symon was insistent. Selena suspected he wanted his own moment of glory, since he’d be the one to introduce her.

When it came time for her to be presented to the assembly, Selena followed Minister Symon to the center of the dais, her legs shaking. After days of anxiety, the entire ceremony passed so quickly it was a blur. She only heard bits and pieces of Symon’s introduction. “…life-saving procedures… incredible breakthrough… courage…”

Then the prime stepped forward, placed a medallion around her neck. She remembered to bow. Thunderous applause rang out, deafening her as thoroughly as an exploding rocket from one of those holographic exhibits of ancient warfare she’d seen.

She managed to get out her short speech thanking the federation for the great honor without stumbling over her words. But as soon as it was over, she headed off the dais, desperate for a moment alone. Pasting a smile on her face, she thanked the crowd of well-wishers waiting behind the scenes. Then she slipped away, making her way gradually down through an endless warren of passages below the enormous structure until she finally found an empty white hallway leading off into the distance without a soul in sight.

Selena ducked into a small side passage with doorways on both sides and sank to the floor, trembling. She wished Haldor could have been with her. But Symon wouldn’t hear of it. She suspected Symon feared that the Gadolinean would make a hit with the crowd and steal the limelight. Haldor had been interviewed by Mia last week. He’d been witty and charming, but he’d also shown a hint of that raw masculine power. Apparently he appealed to bored Earthers’ craving for something new and different to amuse them. Now citizens all over East Metropolis were gathering with friends to summon Mia and replay their chat. Holographic Haldor was becoming a star.

“Certainly, I’d love to have him there, even introduce him before the gathering. After all, he’s the subject of your experiments,” Symon replied when she asked if Haldor could accompany her to the ceremony. “But don’t you see, that’s the very reason I think it might be best if the poor creature wasn’t paraded before everyone. All those people, the crowds. Surely a primitive being such as he isn’t equipped to handle the stress. What if a delegate from another world says something, does something he perceives as an insult? Who knows what kind of violent act he might be capable of? After all, it was uncontrolled violence that brought him here in the first place.”

Much as she hated to admit it, Symon had a point. Not about the threat of violence. She knew Haldor well enough by now to know he was capable of as much self-control as any creature at the gathering. But she couldn’t bear the thought of anyone looking at that proud, strong man and seeing only some sort of medical monstrosity brought back to life in a lab.

At least she’d made it through the whole ordeal without humiliating herself or the ministry. Symon would never have forgiven her if she’d flubbed her speech or forgotten to bow to the prime. She fingered the elaborate medallion on the chain around her neck, made of some element with a name that consisted mostly of consonants and symbols. She knew medical science, not metallurgy. Symon had tried to impress her, telling her how incredibly rare the substance was in the galaxy.

Selena smiled. If it belonged to him, Symon would probably wear it even in the shower. As for her, when she got home, she’d put it in a drawer in her bedroom. If she ever had a child, maybe she’d get it out some day, tell her daughter the story of the day mother almost had a panic attack in front of the entire gathering of the galaxies.

She sat there, slowing her breathing, letting her mind go blank until she felt calm. Finally, she rose. Time to get back to the clinic. Ready now to face the world, she hurried along the deserted corridor.

He hadn’t been there to share the moment with her, but Haldor would love hearing all about the beings from other worlds, the stories they’d told. She looked forward to his laugh when she described Symon’s horror at being confronted with a planet populated by purple-faced beings. Seeing the tenderness come into his eyes when she described the young woman from Botrl XR, who made the journey with her dying grandmother, knowing all the while she’d never survive long enough to take her seat one last time among the delegates. As the young girl recounted her tale, she’d cradled the urn holding the old woman’s ashes, then placed them in the place of honor at the head of her delegation while the others all stood and saluted. Even Symon swiped a tear from his eye as he watched that clip.

Over the last two months, she’d discovered Haldor’s gentler side. The warmth and kindness she’d never dreamt a Viking warrior would possess. She’d been introduced to his dry wit that first night. To her shame, she’d constantly underestimated his level of intelligence in the beginning. Now, as far as she was concerned, he may not have possessed the technical skills of Earthers, but in many ways, his was the more advanced civilization.

Haldor had taught her so much. How to appreciate the simple pleasures. Last week, he’d taken a bite of the ripe nectarine on his breakfast tray. A look of bliss came over his face.

  “It’s that good?”

“Look at it. The color. Vivid, bright. Kissed by the warmth of your sun.” He held it to her lips. “Sink your teeth into it. There’s a satisfying crunch as you breach the firm skin, then that first burst of sweetness hits your tongue.”

But it was in introducing her to the world of sexual experiences where Haldor excelled. He brought his rich, sensual nature to each encounter. True to his promise, he’d never pressured her to take his cock inside her. The sheer size of it still frightened her. Instead, he’d taught her the myriad other ways two people could pleasure each other. Making every atom in her body hum.

He’d been readying her for his cock though, over time. Building her desire as he broke down her resistance. Slipping first one finger into her pussy, then two, and finally, last night, three as she moaned and writhed in his arms. Making her want it. Need it. Ache for it.

He’d be leaving soon. Going back to Gadolinium. Up till now, she’d refused to even think about it. But this ceremony drove home the reality of her situation. Selena knew she couldn’t bear to let him leave without sharing that one last experience with him. Create a memory that would have to last her a lifetime.

She picked up her pace. Tonight, she’d go to him. Kneel before him naked, hair down. “Please, my lord,” she’d say. “I hunger for you. Will you fuck me? Spread the lips of my pussy apart and let me feel the heat of your cock. Then slowly slide it in, filling me inch by inch.”

Lost in thought, Selena never heard the door opening in the deserted passageway behind her. Never saw the shadows of the figures who crept out. Only felt a sharp prick in the side of her neck. Rough arms cramming her limp body into a long black bag. Watching the light gradually disappear as they sealed it up. Then—nothing.

  * * *

He heard the commotion outside his door. Raised voices, that alone a rarity in this world.

  Scuffles. A crash.

He threw open the door. Mia stood outside, arguing with James. Her cyborg assistant knelt on the floor, picking up camera equipment that lay scattered around.

“Haldor! Thank goodness. We’re here to speak with you about the tragedy that’s befallen your doctor. But James wasn’t going to allow it—something about instructions from Minister Symon that you weren’t to be told yet.”

Mia spoke fluent Gadolinean. She’d been fitted with a Tellex chip when she began her career as a reporter so she could communicate with beings from all other worlds when covering stories. She’d spent several hours with Haldor and Selena before the interview, listening t
o them talk and priming her chip.

Haldor strode up to her, knocking James aside.

“What are you talking about, Mia? What tragedy?”

Mia shook her head. “I’m so sorry to be the one to have to tell you, Haldor. I know you two are very close. Doctor Reston has been kidnapped.”

“Kidnapped?” He looked bewildered. “No. She’s at the ceremony. Your gathering of the galaxies. They’re giving her a medal at midday, promoting her to minister.”

He glanced out at the darkening sky. “Your sun has nearly dipped below the horizon. She expected to be back by now,” he muttered to himself.

Haldor took a deep breath. The look that came into his eyes had Mia taking a step backward. “Tell me all you know.”

“I’m not sure how much you were told about the techniques that Doctor Reston used to save your life, Haldor. Between your injuries in battle and the massive loss of blood you suffered, the added stress on your body caused by the trip through the Portal damaged almost every major organ in your body beyond repair. It’s a miracle you’re standing here right now. Doctor Reston could have taken the common route and turned you into a cyborg, essentially creating a machine that held your thoughts, your memories, even your personality. But then you’d never have been able to go back through the Portal to Gadolinium.

“Instead, she replicated your blood and took the radical step of cloning nearly every organ in your body. Then she replaced them, one at a time, keeping you alive mechanically all the while. Disconnecting your systems as your new organs began functioning. Returning you to life as a man and not a machine.”

  Mia went on.

“They almost lost you twice. Mindy told me Doctor Reston slept here on a cot next to your pod every night for the first few weeks, afraid to go home because you might not be alive in the morning. She’d been working on a groundbreaking new technology to make cloned organs replicate in half the time. But the new organs had never been transplanted into humans to see if they’d remain viable over the long term. You were her test subject, Haldor. Fortunately for both of you, it worked.”
