His eyes softened as he realized this was just how Robin was. The main reason her virginity was still intact. “You’d be much more than just a notch on my bedpost, baby.” He took a step forward, and she took one back. Glad she had moved the way he wanted her to, he smiled and took another step, and she did the same until a huge tree halted her retreat.

With her back to the wall, so to speak, she had nowhere else to go. Shaw’s large body was in her way and he kept coming in closer and closer but so slowly she barely saw his progress. “What are you doing, Shaw?”

“I’m going to kiss you,” he winked at her, “and you’re going to let me. If you hate it, then I’ll leave you alone. But if you don’t, then I want all this running away from me to stop.”

Robin’s body began to shake. Shaw was dark and menacing, and God help her, she was turned on more than she’d ever been. Her mouth watered at the thought of kissing the gorgeous man. But she put her hands on his chest to stop him from getting any closer as she peered up into his eyes, whispering, “I’m afraid.”

His hands moved over hers, and he moved them, drawing them up to loop around his neck. He picked her up, her feet dangling above the ground. “Don’t be. Close your eyes, baby.”

Robin couldn’t believe what was happening. Her mind screamed at her to stop, but her body wanted what Shaw offered. She closed her eyes and what she felt next made her mind shut up abruptly.

Softly he kissed her lips. He was so easy and gentle, not at all how she thought he’d be. Her body melted into his arms, a thing she’d never experienced but somehow missed the sensation just the same.

The tip of his tongue moved over her lower lip, beckoning to be let in. She parted her lips and moaned as his tongue came in, moving over hers in soft caresses. Robin pushed her hands up, running them through his thick dark waves of silky hair.

His kiss grew, became more demanding and the heat inside her rose a few degrees as his hands bit into her waist as he held her up. She moved her legs to wrap around him and felt the bulge of his cock against her core.

Another moan escaped her as she felt something she’d never felt before and an ache grew inside of her that she’d never experienced. Her heart beat so hard, she knew he could feel it as their chests crushed together.

Shaw moved one hand up her side then forced it between them, cupping her breast and massaging it gently at first, then he grasped it and squeezed it, and Robin felt the bulge in his jeans get bigger as he handled her more roughly.

Pulling his hair, she moaned as he pumped his bulge against her. She wondered since what they were doing felt so good what sex would feel like. And she found herself wanting to feel that very, very soon.

His mouth left hers only to move to her neck. His breath was hot on her skin as he kissed then lightly bit her neck. She moaned with how good it felt and noticed how wet she was. His kisses and the way he touched her had her soaked for him.

The hand he had on her tit moved down her side again, then he grabbed her over her jeans and rubbed his hand over her aching mound. But that was going too far, and she protested, “No, Shaw,” though it came out in a low groan that told him she didn’t really want him to stop at all.

“Come on, baby,” he whispered in her ear then nibbled on her earlobe. “Let me take you home. Let me show you what you’ve been missing.”

“No, Shaw. We have to stop,” she whimpered. She didn’t want to stop, but she knew she had to.

He stopped kissing her and let her go. Shaw stood, looking at her with a darkness in his eyes she hadn’t seen before. “I can’t stop thinking about you. I have to have you. I always get what I’m after. You can run all you want but I will catch you, and I will make you mine.”

She shivered with a chill that went straight through to her core. “Shaw, you’re scaring me.”

“Not nearly as much as you’re scaring me, baby. I’ve never felt like this. I’ve never let anyone get to me the way you have.” He reached out to pull her back into his arms, but she held her hands out to stop him.

He looked at her small hands on his broad chest and chuckled as she said, “No, Shaw. I have to leave.”

A fire lit inside of him as he said, “You’re not going anywhere, Robin.”

  Chapter 11

The wolf began to howl inside of Shaw, ripping and tearing at him to get at the girl. It took everything in him to control the animal who resided inside. The fear in Robin’s eyes both hurt him and made him incredibly happy at the same time. He eased up on her a bit as he said, “Look, I know I’m coming on strong.”

One blonde eyebrow arched as she put her hand on her hip. “You think?”

He chuckled at her sarcasm. “I know. But you’ve got to understand, I’ve never been this attracted to anyone in my entire life, and that’s saying something, just so you know. You wouldn’t be a passing thing in my life, Robin.”

She leaned on the tree and thought about what he was saying. She’d never been in a relationship. She really had no idea how relationships got started. Maybe this was normal, even though it didn’t feel normal. It felt much too intense. “You sound like you’re saying you want you and I to become an us.”

He nodded and pressed up to her. “I do want that. And if you can stop all this running, then we could get to that already.”

“Can’t you see that you’re moving too quickly for me, Shaw? I’m not the kind of girl you’re obviously used to. I’m not a bad girl. You’re sure to get bored with me, and then where will that leave me?” She didn’t wait for his answer. “I’ll tell you where, heartbroken and alone, that’s where it’ll leave me. I know I’m not your type and you know that too, so why play with my heart?”

But Shaw wasn’t playing and what he wanted was her, permanently. It was far too soon to tell her any of that though. “You’re going to have to trust me, baby.” He took her hands in his and gave them both gentle squeezes. “I won’t hurt you the way you’re thinking. I can promise you that.”

“You can say the words, Shaw, but that doesn’t mean I believe them. I’m not the kind of girl who’ll keep your attention. How come you can’t see that?” she asked him as she searched his eyes. Eyes that only looked at her with adoration. But that would fade quickly when he grew tired of her and her simple ways. Robin knew she couldn’t live up to the other women the man had obviously had.

Shaw was growing tired of her low self-esteem. He gripped her by the chin. “Robin Winters, you’re selling yourself short. You’re an intricate human being, bursting with life. You shine like a star. At least in my eyes, you do. Every little move you make sends my heart into a frantic beat. Like a rock song is playing right here in my chest.” He pounded his chest to impact his words. “Since the moment I laid my eyes on you,” a thing that wasn’t exactly true as it all began the moment he took in her sweet scent, “you’ve mesmerized me. I’ll never grow bored of you, my sexy little vixen. Now stop being so obstinate and let this happen.”

Robin was at a loss for words. The things he said were so sweet, so romantic. No one would ever believe this gorgeous hulking man could come up with such sweet sentiments. But he had come up with them, and on the fly at that. Unless he’d rehearsed his little love speech.

“Why the rush, Shaw?” she asked him. “Why not ask me out on a few dates and see where that leads? You know, the way normal people do. Why the rush to take me to your place and get me into your bed?”

He didn’t know what to say to that. How could he tell her that there were only two weeks to get her to fall in love with him before his wolf would take him over? On that night the wolf would be the one to come for her and attempt to turn her into what he needed, a thing that might be disastrous.

Two weeks of dating casually wouldn’t have her head over heels in love with him the way he needed her to be to accept his proposal. Becoming a shifter like him meant they would be together forever, no divorces like in human marriages. Their bond would be deeper than she knew possible. Only physical contact would see
the results he had to have.

Sex—and lots of it—would be the only way she’d lose herself to him.

“I crave you, baby,” was all he could come up with. That simple one line had gotten him tons of ass in the past. Why wouldn’t it work on her too?

She ducked quickly, moving under his arm, then she darted off in the direction of the woods. “Leave me alone!” She ran, and he followed.

He could overtake her quite easily, but he stayed back, letting her run a bit to tire her out. She’d be much easier to catch and claim if she was tired.

Shaw could smell her fear and heard her heart pumping hard in her chest as she ran out of breath and had no choice but to stop. With her hands on her knees, she panted and tried to catch her breath.

He stopped running and walked the rest of the way to her. Scooping her up in his arms he smiled at her. “Feel better now?”

Too tired to fight, Robin looked into his eyes as she wound her arms around his neck. “I give up,” she whispered then kissed him. As she ran, her brain had gone to work, shutting her body out. She thought about Shaw and what he wanted from her. Would it be so bad to lose a little bit of herself to the man? So what if it didn’t work out, did she really think her first relationship would lead to a lifelong commitment?

Shaw kissed her back and moved to the snow-covered ground, laying her on her back and covering her body with his. He ground his bulge against her soft mound, mimicking what he actually wanted to be doing to her. She drew her knees up, spreading her body for him and arched up so she could feel him even more.

For twenty-three years, Robin had held fast to her virginity. What a memory she’d have if she let Shaw take it. What a tale she’d have about her first time with a man. A powerful, handsome, sexy man with loads of money. A man who was both dangerous and intensely sweet, a rare combination.

Shaw pushed his hands underneath her sweater then under her bra, and his flesh on hers made her cry out with pleasure. How insane it seemed to her as she felt things far too intensely. How could just his bare hand touching her tit make her feel so much? It defied imagination.

When his mouth left hers and went to kiss and suck on her tit, she shoved her hands through his thick hair, moaning with desire and pure, unadulterated lust for him. A pulling sensation came deep inside her stomach, and her pussy tingled with exhilaration. “God, how does this feel so amazing?” she moaned.

Shaw was pleased with her reaction. Maybe she had given up and given in to him. Maybe the chase was over, and he could finally get to the prize. As bad as he wanted to strip away her clothes and plunge his cock as deep as it would go into her, he wanted her to have something a bit more special than that to remember their first coupling, the time he took her innocence from her.

Her body was shaking but not from the cold. Robin was far from cold even though she was lying on a blanket of snow. Heat filled her; she’d never felt so hot before. Shaw’s body on top of hers had her writhing with a need for more. She moved her hands to the bottom of his jacket and pushed them under it to feel his muscular back. The way his muscles rippled as he moved had her growing even more hungry to feel his girth inside of her.

“Shaw, please…” she moaned. She wanted him to take her, right then and there.

He pulled his mouth away from her delicious tit and gazed at her. “Not here, not now. Come with me. Us. We’re going for a ride then stopping to get drinks. Come with me, baby. Please.”

Robin couldn’t help but smile. There she was, giving herself to him, and he wanted to take her on a date instead. She ran her hand over his bearded cheek. “You’re a man of many surprises, Shaw Lykan. I’ll come with you.”

He kissed her lips softly. “Thank you, Robin. You’ll never be sorry you gave me this chance. Not ever.”

Her heart hoped what he said would be the truth. For Robin knew she’d fall hard for the man. And it would probably kill her if he left her. But she knew she wanted to experience everything she could with the man who refused to give up on her. No one had ever been so committed to getting into her life, and she’d be a fool to push Shaw away. But she had to admit, she was afraid of the future with him. She barely had him, and already the fear of losing him gnawed at her insides.

  Chapter 12

With the dogs picked up by their owners, Robin went back to Shaw and his friends who waited at a picnic table for her. “Last one’s been picked up. I’m ready to go. I’ll follow you in my car, Shaw.”

He chuckled as he got up off the tabletop and scooped her up into his arms. “The hell you will. You’re riding with me, baby girl.”

Robin smiled and leaned her head on his chest as his friends flanked each side of him. She couldn’t help but notice they’d come up to her in the same position. Brogan and Rafe on his left, Grey and Falcon on his right, and all just a step behind Shaw.

His lips on the top of her head made her stop thinking about that and look up at him. “I don’t have a helmet.”

“Yes, you do. I brought one for you.” He kissed her lips. “I wasn’t about to put you in danger for even a minute.”

Robin couldn’t help the way she felt. Her heart soared as she sighed and laid her head back on his chest. Giving into him seemed to be the best idea she’d ever had.

Once they’d all gotten onto their motorcycles, she held tight to Shaw, holding her hands together around his waist. “You won’t go too fast, right?”

“Me? Never,” he said then laughed as he went slowly out of the parking lot before gunning it on the open road, making her scream. He knew she wasn’t screaming in fear. The sound she made was from feeling the rush of pure adrenaline.

“Wow!” she shouted. “I’ve never felt so free.”

Robin sounded happy, and that made Shaw happy. He’d never been the kind of guy who got off on other people’s happiness; this was a first for him.

The way the other men rode behind them was a thing Robin noticed too. Brogan and Rafe rode side by side right behind Shaw, and Grey and Falcon rode side by side behind them. All played as if they were going to pass the other, but none ever did. It was kind of like Shaw was their leader.

Robin blew it off, thinking that motorcycle gangs had leaders, that had to be what it was. Shaw just led the group.

Shaw took her on a ride down a small road where trees towered over them, forming a canopy. Everything looked so beautiful as the sun twinkled through the thick trees. They began to ascend up a mountain, a stream cut along the earth on one side of the road. A mixture of ice and water looked refreshing, and she laid her head on Shaw’s back to gaze at the sight.

One of his hands moved over hers, caressing them and making her body react immediately. She had no idea things could feel this way. Just the slightest touch from him could set her off.

She pulled her head off his back and leaned her chin on his shoulder, looking in front of them. He kissed her cheek, and she felt her cheeks heat with a blush. Then she kissed his cheek and felt kind of sexy for being so forward with him.

Once they reached the top of the mountain, she saw they were in a small village with a few places of business. A bar that looked like it had been erected in the early 1800s, a small old-timey grocery store, and a little café that looked new made up the tiny town.

They all pulled into the parking lot of the bar, then climbed off the bikes. Shaw’s arm wrapped around her shoulders and he pulled her close to his side then kissed the side of her head. “Having fun so far, baby?”

“The ride was exhilarating all right. I loved it,” she found herself gushing.

“Good, I want to take you with me every time I ride. You fit me perfectly.” He pulled his shades off as they went inside the dark bar. It was only four, still daylight outside but you wouldn’t know that from the inside of the small bar.

Neon lights were all that lit the interior, and the few people who were in there so early were seen as mere shadows who sat at small tables in the even darker corners. Robin took in her surroundings and felt a chill
as she thought it looked pretty scary. “Why do they keep it so dark in here?”

“I suppose it’s because people who come in here like it that way.” Shaw’s arm moved off her shoulders, and his hand ran down to rest on her ass before he gave it a little smack. “Go sit over there and wait for me while I grab us a couple of beers. I’m going to teach you how to play pool.”

Robin laughed and did as he said. But she had a surprise for him. Her family had a pool table, she’d been playing since she was a kid.

When he and his friends came to the table to join her, Shaw placed a tall brown bottle of Michelob ULTRA in front of her. “You and I are playing against Gray and Falcon. Once we kick their ass, we’ll take on Rafe and Brogan.”

The comradery among the men had Robin feeling very differently than she had been. They all joked around with each other, and even her, drawing her into their tight little circle with ease.

Gray racked up the balls as Shaw picked out what he considered to be a good cue for Robin to use, then he picked one out for himself. Handing her the smaller of the two, he said, “Here you go, baby. We’ll let you break.”

“Cool,” she said as she got up to take the shot. She eyed the men who weren’t paying much attention as she made a break that had nearly half the balls in pockets. “I’ll take the cute striped ones if that’s okay?”

Shaw and the other men looked at her with dropped jaws. Sauntering up to her, Shaw wrapped his arms around her. “Seems you’ve played this game before.”

“A time or two,” she said then laughed. “My family’s had a pool table since I can remember.”

“Ah, so we have us a pro then.” Shaw kissed her then stroked her blonde hair. “How many more surprises are you hiding, my little angel?”

She shook her head and looked down. “No more.”

“I bet you do have more, and I can’t wait to find them all out.” He let go of her and took his turn at the table.
