Finn silenced Talon the only way he knew how: with his lips.

Talon took over the kiss nearly immediately, and Finn melted. Talon broke the kiss and pulled back a little, their foreheads resting together. “You still haven’t said anything,” Talon urged.

Finn grinned happily. “I kind of thought actions spoke louder than words.”

Talon chuckled and dipped his head for another kiss that Finn felt down to his toes.

“Just so I understand,” Finn said. “You want me as your partner and as your boyfriend?”

Talon clutched him tighter, and Finn took that as a yes also.

“But what about the team? About Gregory?”

“The team knows. Vance and Gael were pretty vocal about me finding a quick way to get my head out of my ass. Sawyer’s cool with whatever, and Eli actually suggested I come in this.” Talon patted the dashboard with pride. “Gregory won’t care so long as we’re discreet. To be honest he’s so desperate to have you back, I’m pretty sure he would agree to anything.”

Finn sighed happily, but then another thought quickly wiped the smile from his face.

  “What?” Talon said.

Finn was getting everything he ever wanted, wasn’t he? “This isn’t because you’re feeling guilty, is it? I mean, I’m a big boy, Talon. I can just be your work partner.” Finn flushed. Crap. That sounded like he was assuming Talon wanted to be another sort of partner. “I—”

Talon silenced him in exactly the same way Finn had just done, then broke off reluctantly. “Let me spell this out. I want you in my life. I want you to partner me at work, and I want you in my bed. I can’t promise forever because….” He shrugged and fell silent for a few seconds. “I’m dangerous, Finn. Whatever else this is, I still killed you.” He pulled away a little. “Why do I not terrify you?” he asked, bewildered.

Finn tilted his head to one side. “So it’s not that you don’t like the sound of forever, it’s that you don’t believe you deserve it?”

He watched in fascination as a slight flush stained Talon’s cheeks and he didn’t answer. Finn was entranced. For all his bluster, all his confidence, Talon simply didn’t think it was possible anyone could love him.

Finn smiled and took a steadying breath. “Looks like I’ve got a lot of convincing to do. How about you take me home so we can start?”

Talon grazed a finger down Finn’s cheek and nodded.

“Oh, I forgot. I brought you something. Have you seen what the papers are calling you?”

Finn blinked at the change of subject as Talon handed him a copy of this morning’s Daily Post. He stared at the obvious likeness of him wearing a Superman T-shirt, arm extended and flying through the air. The caption “Superman joins the FBI” was blazoned underneath.

“I’m pretty sure Cohen would give you his firstborn right about now.” Talon chuckled. “The team’s all at my house, waiting for us to come back. They swore once they said hello, they would all make themselves scarce. Eli can take this back for us. Pretty sure I’m not gonna be able to fit it in the parking garage.” Talon started the BearCat, and it roared throatily to life. He looked lovingly at Finn.

Finn beamed back. “One question, then.”

  Talon raised his eyebrows.

  “Can I drive?”
