“Zy, what are you doing?” she asked, confused.
Zylen licked his lips and waved his hand, telling Heaven to come to him. “Come on, girl,” he said.
She walked over to the table slowly, and seeing how nicely decorated it was brought tears to her eyes. “Zy, this is nice, baby. You did this for me?” No one had ever treated or made Heaven feel the way Zylen did.
“Of course. I want my Heaven Sent’s last night here to be wonderful and I wanted you to know just how much I love you, starting with this,” he said, pulling her chair out for her to sit in. Once she was seated he kissed her cheek before taking a seat of his own.
Once they were done eating Zylen laid a blanket down for them to lay back and enjoy themselves on the beach before going back inside. Heaven was impressed because she has never known Zylen to be the romantic type.
“Baby, I never known you to be the romantic type,” she admitted to him.
He smiled because he wasn’t the romantic type but he was deeply in love with Heaven and he was willing to do any and everything to make her happy. He wanted to do things for her that no other nigga had ever done for her. Zylen knew Heaven was so used to guys only wanting her for her body, but that wasn’t him at all and he was willing to prove it to her.
“I’m only romantic for the lady that has my heart,” he said to her honestly. She couldn’t help but to blush.
Zylen couldn’t stop staring at her. He loved the way her skin glowed under the moonlight, followed by the way her hair blew from the night air. Heaven looked up at him and smiled shyly. She was truly in love with Zylen. The two talked about everything but mostly about their future and what they wanted out of life. Heaven mostly talked about what she wanted to do when she graduated from college and Zylen listened.
“I don’t see my future without you being in it,” Zylen said to Heaven.
“I don’t plan on not being in your future, Zy. Plus we’re about to have a child together so you’re gonna have to deal with me until she’s 18, so whether you like it or not, I’m gonna be in your future regardless, buddy,” Heaven teased him as she laughed and playfully hit him on the arm.
“I’m talking about married Heaven! When I see my future I see us married with more than one child,” Zylen said seriously.
Heaven didn’t say anything at first. She was feeling the same way and wanted nothing more than to be Zylen’s wife and when the time was right she would be more than happy to marry him.
“I mean, I want that also, Zylen but I’m not gonna rush it or make you feel like I’m pressing you into marrying me. I don’t want you to feel you’re obligated to marry me because I’m having your baby,” she said, choosing her words carefully. She knew what would run a man off and the words ‘marriage’ and ‘commitment’ would definitely run a nigga off.
Zylen just nodded his head as he stood up, pulling Heaven up along with him and hugging her ever so tightly. Heaven hugged him before pulling back, eyeing Zylen. He had a strange look on his face as he bit his bottom lip and dug deep inside his pocket. He then dropped down to one knee and opened the small black box that had the world’s biggest princess cut diamond ring inside. Heaven covered her mouth with both hands. Is this nigga for real? she asked herself.
“Baby, I want you to know how serious I am about our relationship and the love I have for you. We can stay engaged until you finish school and all, but once you finish, I want to make this official and you wear my last name. Please say you’ll marry me,” he said while he stared her in the eyes.
Heaven couldn’t stop the tears from flowing as she nodded her head up and down, letting him know she’d marry him. After Zylen placed the ring on her ring finger he kissed her and they made love under the moonlight before taking it to their house they rented on the beach.

“Ma!” screamed Heaven as she entered her mother’s house. She was so excited about her engagement and wanted her mother to be the first to know.
Sunshine walked out the kitchen drying her hands on her apron. “Girl, why you doing all that damn hollering?”
“Zylen proposed to me!” Heaven screamed excitedly as she flashed her ring.
“What? When girl?” Sunshine asked, pulling her daughter to the couch. She was so happy for her daughter and even happier that she was with Zylen. Though Zylen was a big time hustler, Sunshine thought he was a good man and knew he would never do anything to hurt her daughter.
Heaven told her mother everything about their trip and about the romantic night she and Zylen had the night he proposed. Sunshine saw so much love in her daughter eyes. All she ever wanted was for her daughter to have a better life than hers.
“I’m so happy for you, baby,” she said as her and Heaven hugged.
Heaven chilled at her mother’s house and had dinner with her before returning home to her awaiting fiancé.
Chapter 9
Zylen was on the phone with Heaven when he pulled up to the gas station. He was so wrapped up in their conversation that he never saw the person approaching his car until they tapped on his window. Zylen always rode with his tool resting on his lap and he quickly pointed it at the person standing there without hesitation.
“What the fuck?” he said out loud.
“Zylen, what’s wrong?” Heaven asked worriedly.
Zylen shook his head as he stared the person standing at his car dead in the eyes. “N-nothing, boo…I’ll hit you right back,” he fumbled over his words as he ended the call without waiting for a response.
Zylen exited his car with a mug on his face, wanting to kill the person standing in front of him.
“I thought maybe you would be happy to see me, Zy.”
“You got some fucking nerves to even approach me, Tamar,” Zylen said. Tamar was Zylen’s ex, his first love. They were together for three years until she stole from him and disappeared. He vowed then and there to never let anyone have his heart again; that was until Heaven came alone.
“Don’t be like that, Zy. I’m sorry for everything. I was just young and money hungry back then,” said Tamar.
“I gave you everything you asked for. Whatever you wanted you got and how did you repay me? By stealing from a nigga.”
“I know and I’m sorry for that, Zy. I want you to forgive me. I wanted to reach out to you so many times but I knew you was upset with me.”
“Man, I ain’t even mad about the money it’s just the principle of it. We were supposed to be in love and you stole from me!”
Tamar placed her arms around Zylen’s neck. “I’m sorry for that, Zy. I truly am and I plan on paying you back every penny. I have half and if you give me enough time I’m gonna pay you the other half,” she said.
Tamar stole a hundred thousand dollars from Zylen. Her only hope was to earn his trust back so they could move forward and rekindle their love.
Zylen just stared at her, not saying a word. She smiled at him and removed her arms from around his neck. “Can we just go have dinner and talk about everything?” she asked.
Zylen didn’t respond right away. He didn’t want Tamar to think he was forgiving her for stealing from him but he did want his money back from her, even if he didn’t really need it. “Yeah, I’ll follow you,” he said as he got back inside his car. Telling Tamar about Heaven would have been the right thing to do but for some strange reason Heaven didn’t cross Zylen’s mind once.
Heaven tried to wait up for Zylen to get home. She was still worried about him from when she was on the phone with him earlier. She was calling but he wasn’t answering, then all of a sudden his phone started going to the voicemail. She had a gut feeling something wasn’t right. She picked up her phone to call Ali just as Zylen was walking through the bedroom door.
“Zy, where you been? I been worried sick about you?” Heaven asked, rushing over to him.
“I’m sorry, boo. My phone was dead,” he responded. She threw her arms around his neck and quickly pulled back, tilted her head to the side, and stared at him.
<
br /> “What’s wrong?” he asked but she didn’t say anything as she released him and slowly walked back over to their bed. Zylen noticed the sadness on Heaven’s face and walked over to the bed to tell her about his dinner with Tamar. He wanted to be the one to tell her before anyone else told her. He took a seat on the bed next to Heaven.
“Baby, you know I love you and I’m not trying to keep anything from you. I don’t need nan one of your hood ass friends or anyone coming to you telling you some shit they saw. I want you to hear it from me.”
Heaven’s heartbeat began to speed up, afraid of what was about to come out of her fiancé’s mouth. Zylen was even nervous and didn’t know how to tell the love of his life that he went on a date with another woman, his ex at that.
“I ran into one of my exes today and we went out to dinner, but I swear it was innocent.”
“So that’s why you wasn’t answering the phone for me?”
“I told you my phone was dead, Heaven.”
Heaven pressed her lips together, not believing Zylen. He has a car charger so why would his phone be dead? she thought.
“I swear my phone is dead…look,” he said, showing her his phone wouldn’t come on. “It’s so dead it won’t come on,” he explained.
“Okay, Zy” Heaven said as she laid down. She wasn’t gonna mention the perfume fragrance that had their bedroom lit up until Zylen was about to lay down. “I hope you don’t think you’re gonna lay next to me smelling like another bitch!”
Zylen walked to the bathroom to shower without saying a word. He didn’t want Heaven to feel disrespected in any way. He had to admit seeing Tamar brought up old feelings but he had a good thing going on with Heaven and didn’t want to mess that up for someone that he would never be able to trust. Once Zylen was out the shower he got in bed and pulled Heaven close, thinking she wasn’t sleep.
“I love you, Heaven Sent,” he kissed her on the neck and whispered in her ear.
She wasn’t gonna say anything back but Zylen gave her no reason to not trust him, and if he said it was an innocent date then she had no other choice but to believe him. But she didn’t want to play the fool either.
“I love you too, Zy,” she replied. He began placing small kisses on her shoulders and back. Heaven felt the hardness of his penis pressing against her ass. She might have been upset with Zylen but she would never neglect his needs. He flipped her over, kissing and sucking his way down to her love box. Once Heaven exploded and Zylen licked it all up he kissed her lips.
“I love you so much, Heaven,” he said as he entered her. Heaven gasped and closed her eyes. The whole idea of her fiancé being on a date with another female didn’t sit well with her but she pushed it to the back of her mind for the time being.
The next day Heaven had Zylen drop her off at La-La’s house after they left her doctor’s appointment. Once they pulled up Zylen called Ali to come out and they rode off somewhere. Heaven wobbled up to the porch. It had been a month since she’d last seen La-La and the rest of her girls. Though she and Kim were on bad terms she still referred to her as her girl.
“Damn mama, you’re getting big as hell,” said La-La.
“I know, girl. Nine more weeks and li’l mama will be here. When I tell you a bitch can’t wait,” Heaven announced.
La-La laughed. “I know your ass can’t.”
“Girl, how about this nigga—” Heaven started but was cut off by La-La’s loud ghetto outburst.
“Bitch, I know damn well,” she said, grabbing Heaven’s hand admiring her ring. “What the fuck is this, Heaven?”
“Girl, yes,” Heaven giggled. “He proposed when we was in the Bahamas.”
“Call me Kim because I’m jealous, bitch!” La-La teased, causing Heaven to bust out laughing. Everyone could see the envy in Kim’s eyes whenever she was around.
“You so fucking stupid,” Heaven said, still laughing.
Heaven didn’t want to spoil the mood so she didn’t bring up Zylen and his ex going out to dinner. She just sat back and enjoyed her best friend.
Zylen and Ali were riding around collecting money when Tamar called him. He looked at the phone and sent her to the voicemail only for her to hang up and call right back.
“Yeah, man,” he answered.
“Is that the way you answer your phone for me now?” Zylen could tell Tamar was smiling.
“Man, what’s up, Ta?”
“I’m trying to see when I can see you again. I really enjoyed myself last night. You know I’m still in love with you and I’m willing to do any and everything to rekindle what we had,” she admitted as if Zylen didn’t hear it enough during dinner.
“I’ll see you when you have the rest of my money.”
“I should have that soon but I don’t want to have to wait until then to see you, Zy.”
“Man look, is that what you called me for?” Zylen asked, feeling Ali burning a hole in the side of his head.
“I called you because I want to see you, Zylen.”
“Nah, my fiancée wouldn’t like that,” he said. The phone got so quiet he thought she’d hung up until she spoke again.
“Fiancée? So that’s how you doing it now, Zy?” Tamar asked sadly.
“Man look, I gotta go, Ta. Call me when you get the rest of my shit.” And with that he hung up in Tamar’s face. He looked over at Ali and he was still staring at him.
“What, nigga?” Zylen finally asked.
“Bruh, I know that ain’t the Ta I think it is.”
“Yeah, that’s Tamar ass.”
“What the fuck, bruh? I hope you ain’t thinking about leaving Heaven for her no-good ass. Why the fuck is that bitch still breathing after what she did to you?” Ali questioned him.
“Hell no I’m not leaving Heaven for nan one of these nothing having ass bitches out here. And to answer your other question, the bitch came back to pay me my money back. She gave me 50 G’s last night and say she gonna give me the other 50 soon.”
“You should off her ass when she give you your money back,” Ali said as he rolled a Blunt. Zylen opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by the sound of his phone ringing. Ali knew it was a reason for Tamar to reappear after being away for three years.
“What’s up, Heaven Sent?”
“Are you on the way back because I’m ready to go home?” Heaven asked with a slight attitude. Zylen knew she was still in her feelings from the previous night.
“Yeah, I’m heading that way right now,” Zylen said as he made a U-turn in the middle of the street and pulled up to La-La’s house ten minutes later. He smiled seeing Heaven wobble to the car. Heaven was like a breath of fresh air to Zylen and he loved her more and more as the days went by.
Once they got home, they showered and Zylen couldn’t keep his hands off Heaven. After their lovemaking she laid in his arms as they pillow talked. “Zy, are you sure you’re ready to get married? I mean to be with one woman for the rest of your life?” Heaven asked.
“If I wasn’t ready then I wouldn’t have asked you, baby. I love you and there’s no other woman out there for me.”
“I mean I don’t want you to only wanna marry me because we’re expecting. I want you to marry me because you love me with all your heart and don’t have any desire for another woman.”
“Baby, you’re my world, my one and only. You’re my Heaven Sent and it’s gonna be like that for the rest of our lives. I don’t want another female. You’re more than enough woman for me. I don’t want anyone else and I mean than shit from the bottom of my heart.”
“Even your ex?” Heaven just had to ask.
“Baby, that conniving ass ho should be the least of your worries. I wouldn’t take her back if my life depended on it,” he answered her honestly, looking her in the eyes. Heaven smiled and kissed him gently on his soft lips, believing his every word.
Chapter 10
“I can’t do this shit. It hurts too bad, Zylen!” Heaven screamed as she held Zylen and her mother’s hands.
>
“Yes you can, baby. Just keep pushing the way you been doing and it’ll all be over soon.” Zylen kissed her moist forehead.
“You can do it, baby,” Sunshine cosigned.
Zylen and Sunshine coached Heaven as she laid in the delivery room giving birth to her daughter.
“Just give me one more big push like the one you just did Miss Moore,” the doctor instructed and she did. The next push was bigger than before and Heaven didn’t stop until she heard her baby girl crying.
“Is she okay?” She asked Zylen nervously.
“She’s perfect,” smiling Zylen said kissing her on the lips before going over to join Sunshine to take pictures of his new baby girl. Once Heaven was in her private room and the baby was out of nursery she introduced everyone to Hydeia Ka’liyah Reids.

6 weeks later
Heaven was on cloud nine as she cruised the streets with her fiancé and her baby girl. Right after Hydeia was born Zylen surprised her with a mini mansion. The house was absolutely breathtaking. She looked over at him as his phone begin to ring for the third time, only for him to send the caller to the voicemail once again. He’d been doing that a lot lately. She loved the fact that he would put the streets aside when it came to his family. Zylen reminded her on a daily basis that she and his daughter came before any and everything else. But this time was it the streets calling him or was it Tamar? Only time would tell.
“Baby, let’s go over to La-La house. She been calling for me to bring Hydeia over all week,” Heaven said.
“Okay, that’s cool. I need to holla at my nigga anyways,” he responded.
Ten minutes later they were pulling up to La-La and Ali’s house. Everyone was on the porch, as usual. Heaven was surprised to see Gina there without her sidekick, Kim. Zylen got Hydeia out and carried her to the porch, stopping so everyone could see her before taking her inside. Heaven kicked it inside with La-La and Gina while Zylen kicked it outside with his clique.
