“Come on y’all, let’s go hit the dance floor,” Kendra said to the girls. Fred didn’t like that idea because she was pregnant. He didn’t mind her clubbing because he was there in case someone decided they wanted to jump stupid. After La-La and Heaven assured him that everything would be fine and they would make sure she stayed out of harm’s way, he let her go.

The DJ was jamming and they were enjoying themselves. Kendra could dance her ass off so she fit right in with them, pregnant and all.

“I have to pee,” Kendra announced and they headed to the bathroom. La-La and Heaven decided to use it as well since they were in there.

Walking back to the dance floor, Heaven spotted Zylen instantly. He was posted on the wall with a bottle of Patron in one hand, a Blunt in the other, and his crew right by his side. That man was all types of fine and sexy for absolutely no reason at all. It was funny how he stood out from the rest. Though Zylen was no longer in the game, he still held that ‘boss’ status that bitches just loved and niggas loved to hate.

Heaven stood from a distance and just watched him for a minute. He definitely had her in a trance. All she could do was shake her head as she thought about all the years she’d walked around with a crush on Zylen. She was so in love with him but he wouldn’t give her the time of day. Even when she tried telling herself after college that she no longer longed for him, she did. Smiling, she thanked God and sashayed over to her dream guy. The women that were eagerly trying to grab their attention didn’t go unnoticed, either.

“Hey, my sexy chocolate,” Heaven whispered into his ear. She begin licking and sucking on his earlobe. Just her touch alone always made Zylen weak. The Patron didn’t help too much either and Heaven already knew she was getting the business once they got home.

“What’s up, baby? Are you having fun?” he asked her as he closed his eyes to enjoy the sensation of her touch.

“Yeah, I am…I see these hos trying to get some attention,” Heaven said.

“I’m not thinking about them. You already know, you’re the only one that’ll forever have my attention,” Zylen guaranteed her. Nothing else was said as Heaven turned around and backed her ass against his dick. Zylen leaned forward as he kissed on her neck. She was slow rolling to the beat of the song before everyone in the club went wild, including them.

The DJ dropped Lifestyle by Rich Gang and everyone went crazy. That was one of Heaven and La-La’s favorite song. Them, along with their husbands, could relate to the song, because they all had started from the bottom to live the lifestyle they were living.

The club began to die down and everyone was ready to call it a night. Fred and Kendra had already left early. Walking to the car, Ali and Zylen made sure to hold their wives close. They were fucked up so they made sure to watch their surroundings. Placing the ladies into their cars, they dapped each other up before jumping into their driver’s seats.

Zylen sped off and just as Ali was about to, he saw a familiar face that caused him to stop dead in his tracks. It was as if he’d just seen a ghost. Technically he thought he did being that the person supposed to have been dead. At first he thought his eyes were deceiving him but when La-La jumped and looked at him frightened with widened eyes, he knew he’d just saw the last person he would’ve expected to see.

  Chapter 20

It had been two weeks since Heaven quit her job and she actually enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and wife. She was afraid that she would grow tired of being around her husband 24/7. You know, everyone needed a break from their significant others every now and then, but she was really loving it. Shit, who wouldn’t want to be around Zylen’s sexy, chocolate ass every day, all day?! His ass was truly something to look at.

“Baby, since you’re about to go kick it with Ali, do you mind dropping me off at La-La’s shop?” Heaven walked into the den where Zylen was watching TV and smoking. Ali had called him the night before and asked him to swing by his crib because he wanted to talk to him about something. Zylen didn’t know what it was but he knew it was something he wasn’t going to be pleased with. He heard it in Ali’s voice.

“Yeah, I was just about to leave.” Resting the Blunt between his lips he begin putting on his shoes. Heaven went to grab her purse and jacket and they were out the door.

Zylen was deep in thoughts on the ride to drop Heaven off. His mind was wandering off to what Ali had to tell him. His voice was shaky and mixed with anger and that shit wasn’t sitting right with him. He was so eager to know what it was that he was willing to let Heaven drop him off and take the Chevy. He knew she wasn’t going for that, though. She hated that damn car.

“Call me when you get ready if I don’t call you first,” said Zylen when they pulled up at the store. Leaning over in the seat, Heaven gave him a peck on the lips.

“Okay, bae. Love you,” she replied, getting out. Zylen said he loved her back and watched as she entered before speeding off like a bat out of hell, disappearing into the upcoming traffic.

Heaven walked into the empty store and was greeted by Kendra.

“Hey, Heaven,” Kendra smiled. She wasn’t too fond of Heaven at first. She seemed snobbish and trying to check her about Zylen’s name was lame as hell to Kendra. The few times they hung out, Heaven wasn’t holding back the fact that she didn’t like Kendra, for whatever reason, and that made Kendra not like her more. La-La was so hell-bent on them getting along that she had an outing every damn weekend, so eventually they became close. Like, what other choice did they really have but to warm up to one another?

“Hey, boo. How is my baby doing in there?” Heaven rubbed her stomach.

“Sitting on my damn bladder.” Kendra laughed as well as Heaven.

“Believe me, I know the feeling, mama. Where’s Layla, in the office?” asked Heaven. Kendra let her know that she was and that’s where Heaven headed. When she walked into La-La’s office she was doing what seemed to be paperwork. She wasn’t expecting Heaven so seeing her there caught her by surprise.

La-La was doing some last minute paperwork. After seeing the face they’d seen a couple of nights ago at the club, she and Ali thought it would be best if she closed her bridal shop until they got to the bottom of the shit. He wasn’t putting shit past anyone and he was being extra cautious when it came to protecting his family and friends.

“Hey, my love.” La-La got up to hug her. Heaven spoke as she hugged her back before taking a seat of her own. “What brings you by?”

“Zy was going to chill with your hubby, so instead of staying at home alone being bored I decided to come chill with you,” answered Heaven. Heaven looked around, noticing a few boxes and she just had to ask what was going on.

“What’s up with these boxes?” Come to think of it, up front was a little empty as well. Heaven knew she hadn’t sold that many damn wedding dresses.

“Girl, Ali wants me to close up the store until further notice.” La-La tried to sound as nonchalant as she could. She wanted to tell Heaven the real reason but Ali had asked her not to. He didn’t want her worrying and thought it would be best if Zylen sat her down to inform her.

“Until further notice? Like what the fuck? Are y’all losing the place, La-La? Is it money you need? Kids can be expensive. I know you have the twins and now Taylen. How much do you need, sis? You know I got you?” Heaven already had her checkbook and a pen out, ready to write her a check. La-La was cracking up, laughing.

“Girl put your damn checkbook up. I don’t need any money. I promise it has nothing to do with money. It’s—” La-La started off but paused. That caused Heaven to raise a brow. She knew it had to be something serious because La-La loved that damn shop.

“What is it, La-La?” Heaven asked confused. La-La had much pity in her eyes as she stared at Heaven. That made Heaven uncomfortable and the hairs on her arms stood. She knew it was something La-La was dwelling on telling her. La-La bit down on her bottom lip, contemplating if she should warn Heaven or not. Fuck it.

“You know I love you a
nd want you safe. I know Zylen will go the extreme to protect his family so that’s one thing I’m not worried about. But—”

“La-La, what is it? You’re scaring me,” Heaven cut her off as she moved to the edge of her seat. “Just tell me, why don’t you.”

“The other night when Ali and I was leaving the club, we saw—”

“Y’all husbands is up front, along with my baby daddy,” Kendra bust in the door with a wide smile on her face as she rubbed her baby bump.

Shit, saved by the damn bell, La-La thought as she got up from her seat. She was just about to walk out but Heaven grabbed her arm, preventing her from doing so. Looking over at Kendra, who was still standing at the door wearing a smile, Heaven smiled back.

“Tell them we’ll be out in a few,” Heaven said, dismissing her. Once Kendra closed the door behind her Heaven asked La-La to continue with what she was saying.

“Ali asked me to let Zylen be the one to tell you but because you’re my sister and I know you not going to let my arm go until I tell you—”

“You damn right I’m not. Now get to talking,” Heaven said. La-La laughed and shook her head. Rolling her eyes upwards, she continued talking.

  ********

“Fuck taking them so long?” Zylen angrily asked to no one in particular. To say he wasn’t too pleased with the shit Ali had informed him of would’ve been an understatement. Just hearing the name alone, Zylen knew shit was about to hit the fan.

“I don’t know. Heaven just told me to tell y’all they’ll be up here in a minute,” Kendra shrugged while sitting in Fred’s lap.

“I’ll go check,” Ali said. Just as he was getting ready to walk towards the back where the office was located he heard footsteps then La-La and Heaven appeared.

The look on their faces let him know that his wife had spilled the beans. All he could do was shake his head. When Zylen let it be known that Heaven was at the store, Ali already knew La-La was going to run her mouth. Her ass couldn’t hold water.

“Hey, baby.” La-La kissed Ali before wrapping her arms around his neck. “I’m sorry but I had to tell her,” she whispered. His only response was slapping her on the ass.

“Ouch, stop nigga,” she said while rubbing her stinging butt. Turning to face everyone else, she spoke to Zylen and Fred. “So what brings everyone by?”

“Shid, I came to get my girl. Ain’t y’all about to close?” Fred said. He had Kendra so spoiled that she didn’t even have to drive to work anymore. He’d just bought her a brand new Escalade truck but her ass would rather for him to chauffeur her around.

“Yeah, we are. Ali and I could have dropped her off, though. You should make her big head ass start driving. I swear you have her so spoiled,” La-La said, shaking her head. Kendra giggled and waved her off.

“This my main squeeze. I have to spoil her.” Fred wrapped his arms around Kendra’s waist. His ass was so damn in love.

Fred had never really been in a real committed relationship. He wasn’t ugly by a long shot. He had a little limp due to being shot a few years back; it wasn’t that noticeable, though. In fact, if you didn’t know him, you would think it was a part of his swag. He was so nice with a heavy heart that woman were always milking his ass and taking advantage of him. He was the true definition of Pay-Master and people always took his kindness for weakness. Overall he was a great guy.

“I better be your only squeeze, nigga! Fuck you mean?” Kendra slapped him on the back of his head playfully, causing everyone to laugh. Well everyone accept Zylen. He seemed to be spaced out. Heaven whispered something to him, and he nodded his head and stood to his feet.

“Yo, I’ll get up with y’all niggas later.” He fist pounded Fred, then Ali, and hit Kendra and La-La with a head nod before walking out the door.

“I’ll see y’all,” Heaven said, hugging everyone. She promised she would call La-La later that night and was out the door. By the time she got outside, Zylen had the car in front of the door waiting for her.

The ride picking up the kids was quiet. They both were lost in their own thoughts. They hadn’t even been back for a year and it was like shit was occurring out of nowhere. First Taylen, now motherfuckers rising from the dead and shit.

“Maybe we should move back to Atlanta,” Heaven said, breaking the awkward silence as they pulled up to the daycare center. The look Zylen gave her let her know he wasn’t going anywhere.

“Because that mothafucka’ is back you think I’m supposed to just pack my shit and hop on the first flight? Fuck outta here! When have you ever known me to run from a mothafucka’?” If looks could kill Heaven would’ve fallen over in her seat and died. Zylen’s nostrils were flared and his forehead held wrinkles from the mug he was displaying on his face. One would’ve thought Heaven was his damn enemy. When she didn’t respond he said, “Exactly! So I ain’t going no damn where!”

“I’m just saying, Zy. I have kids to think about now. We put my daughter in jeopardy once and I refuse to let that shit happened again. You know as well as I do that the outcome isn’t going to be pretty. It’s about to be some shit and you know it,” Heaven said, referring to when Tamar and the gang broke into Zylen’s stash house. She was trying to be rational and wished Zylen would think with his head and not his guns. The shit Heaven was spitting was something Zylen wasn’t trying to hear at the moment.

“No, you put our daughter in jeopardy because you wanted to argue instead of getting on a fucking plane like I told yo’ ass to. Now don’t come throwing that shit up my damn face ‘cause I don’t wanna fucking hear it,” Zylen damn near yelled at her. Shocked by his reaction, Heaven just stared at him with widened eyes. He wasn’t trying to argue with her but for her to throw that shit at him was like a slap in the face.

“Really, Zylen? That’s how you feel?” was all Heaven could say. She hadn’t seen Zylen that angry in a long time.

“Hell yeah, really Heaven!” he said mockingly. “You coming at me with that shit like it was my fault that y’all was there when shit jumped off.”

“I never once said it was your fucking fault! But maybe, just maybe if you wasn’t running behind that bitch, going to her house whenever you got in your got damn feelings then she wouldn’t have came at us in the first damn place. I guess you thought it was best for you to run to the next bitch than walk around with your ass on your shoulders and not talk to your fiancée for a few days. Was that it, Zylen?” Heaven asked. Zylen just stared at her like she was crazy before nodding his head up and down.

“Yeah, that was it. That’s exactly what it was, Heaven. You acting like it wasn’t any of your crazy ass exes and ho ass home girls gunning for your head, too.”

Heaven mouth with to an ‘O’ shape as she stared at him in disbelief.

“Mothafucka’ don’t be cute and get yo’ ass slapped,” she warned him, letting his last statement slide.

“When you ask a dumb ass question, you receive a dumb ass answer,” he shot back at her. Leaning further on the door he was looking at Heaven with so much fire in his eyes. It was so like Heaven to talk shit at the wrong damn time. Zylen was already upset and she was only adding more fuel to the mothafuckin’ fire.

“How was that a dumb question, Zylen? I mean shit, I wanna know what it was about the ho for you to have been so far up her ass. I mean—”

“I wasn’t up her ass!” Zylen cut her off.

“Yo’ dumb ass was up her ass! Can you honestly sit here and tell me that was your first time going over there?” She folded her arms across her chest and turned to stare at him, waiting for an answer. He was mumbling something but she couldn’t make out what he was saying. That pissed her off more. “Speak up, nigga,” she said. Reaching over, Heaven mushed the side of his head. It hit the window but she didn’t give two fucks.

“Why you bringing up old shit that happened damn near five years ago? Grow the fuck up and get over that shit. Damn!”

Heaven hadn’t spoken about Tamar since that night Zylen tried to put her on a
plane. He thought she was over it but obviously she wasn’t. But damn, she could have picked another time and place to bring the bullshit back up.

“I bring up what I want, when I want. Yo’ ass just know it wasn’t the first time that’s why you sitting over there huffing and puffing now. Like I said, I think it would be best if we moved back to the A to avoid all this bullshit that’s about to unfold.”

Zylen chuckled and shook his head. He looked out the window, then back at Heaven. She was working his damn nerves. There was no doubt that he loved his wife to the death of him but sometimes her ass would make a nigga want to lay hands on her. Zylen had never been one to hit a female, except Tamar when she was talking reckless about Heaven. It wasn’t in him, especially with Heaven being his wife. He would never raise his hand at her, but she was running her mouth and really pushing it.

“And like I said, I’m not going no damn where and neither are you and my kids.”

Heaven smacked her lips and rolled her eyes.

“We lucked up and made it out last time, we might not be so lucky this damn time around,” Heaven said. “You acting so fucking stupid right now!”

“No, you acting stupid right now! Just take yo’ ass in there and get the kids.” Zylen reached over to open her door and his hand brushed against her leg. That’s when she went crazy and slapped him.

“Don’t fucking touch me! I swear y’all niggas live for drama. You rather stay here and gun it out with mothafuckas instead of packing yo’ shit and moving. I’m not for this shit, Zylen.” By then Heaven was damn near over in his seat, pouncing him repeatedly.

“Get yo’ crazy ass off me, Heaven,” he said but she wasn’t budging. She just kept swinging. If he hadn’t known before, Zylen knew right then that his wife was crazy. Pushing her over in her seat, it took every bone in his body to keep him from slapping some sense into her ass. A small crowd had gathered around and was looking at them.
