A Haven in Peace: A Peace Series Novella Page 8

by Cassie May

Swallowing hard she turned around and looked at Gavin. If he wanted to leave her, he had to say it to her face. What she saw when she had fully turned to him took her breath away.

Gavin kneeled in front of her a crooked smile playing on his lips, his eyes glistening with tears. “Laynee, you are unbelievable. I had all of this planned for today. I talked to your parents, to Abby to explain to them how I feel for you. I’ll make this short, since you already stole my thunder. Laynee Bradshaw, do you want to marry me?” He held out a small box and opened it. A simple square cut diamond twinkled in the light and Laynee had to choke back another sob.

He wanted her. Her and Abby. To be a real family. “Yes. Yes, I want to marry you. Of course I want to marry you!”

She sank down next to him on the floor and laughed happily when he put the ring on her finger. Immediately Abby wrapped her arms around them and giggled seeming happier than ever before.

Gratitude washed over Laynee and she had to close her eyes to keep more tears from spilling out.

  They were home.

She had found them a haven in Peace.

“Peace and Harmony” by Lisa Ann coming December 8, 2017

Lynn Dyer has been traveling all around the world since signing the music contract her mother got her ten years ago. At the age of 27, she is not only exhausted physically, she is exhausted mentally as well. When she first started out, she wanted to play her own music, written from the heart, but once the ink was dry on the contract, she was molded into a classic sexpot pop singer.

Running away to the only hometown she’s ever known, she hides away at her family's estate house just outside of Peace, MT. She reconnects with old high school Dexie, who introduces her to Kyle, another musician trying to make it on his own. Together they find the sound that Lynn has been dying to perform, even if it might alienate her most devout fans.

Troy Gaines remembers the shy, scrawny girl he went to Peace High School with and can’t believe the woman she has blossomed into. Working as the main ranch hand on the estate, he can’t seem to figure out if Lynn and Kyle have a thing going on and why it bothers him so much that they might. Determined to win this year’s blue ribbon at the Founder’s Day Rodeo, he tries to put all his thoughts into that, but a certain singer keeps creeping into mind.

The book before this is “Seeking Peace” by SH Pratt, released November 10, 2017

  out the Author

Born and bred in Germany, Cassie started reading at a very young age. Evolving around a never-ending stream of books, she started to write her own stories on a college block. Later on, she switched to computers and a lot of unfinished stories are still waiting there for her. Ever since discovering the vast variety of the Indie community, the voices in her head started to talk English to her and were more insistent in getting their story told. Finally in August 2016, Cassie took the huge step and published her first book, Captured Hearts. When she is not writing books or reading, Cassie can be found on the rugby pitch. She plays Seven’s rugby and sometimes even Rugby Union. Other than that, she likes to cook and meet her friends. Typical introvert she likes to stay in and do something relaxing like wellness or sauna in her free time. Cassie is a family girl and loves meeting and celebrating with her family, even though they get on her nerves from time to time.
