“I’m going to cut a trail straight across as fast as I can.” Sullivan handed the knife to Chuck. “You’ll need to get ready to stick this in the face of anything that gets too close to us.”
“But what about you? You have the gun.”
Sullivan nodded. “I have a loud weapon which we don’t want to use unless absolutely necessary. Plus, I’ll be busy running my ass off. You can cover my back.”
Chuck snorted. “Very funny. I see what you did there. Cause I’m ON your back. Cute. You know, if I still had my legs, I’d put my foot in your ass.”
Sullivan ignored Chuck’s sarcasm. He started darting through the wheat field, hunched over to lower their profile.
“Try to keep up with me, Chuck.”
