Molly shushes Celie. Nadine laughs, and Mama cries.

“I’d like to introduce you to Cameron and Savannah Wild,” the minister says with a smile. “You may now kiss the bride.”

Cam’s already picked me up and swung me around. His beautiful white teeth flash in a mischievous grin, and when his lips find mine, I forget about the audience. All I feel is him. All I taste is him. And all I want—forever—is him.

“Savannah Wild,” I say quietly when he puts me down.

“You like it?” he asks me.

“I love it,” I say, my face breaking into a wide smile.

“Me too.” His dimples flash. “It means we’re a team. We’ll always have each other’s backs.”

“Nothing makes me happier.” I lace my fingers through his as we step off the altar.

Mama grabs me in a hug, and before I can move, all three of my sisters have me in a group embrace. I eventually pull away with a laugh, and we continue down the aisle.

I spent some time before the wedding debating what to do about my father. In the end, out of respect to Mama, I decided not to extend an invitation to him, Flora, and Tara. Instead, I suggested we all get together sometime after Cam and I move.

And as it turns out, Flora went into labor yesterday. My brother, Benjamin, was born healthy and screaming. In the end, I think everything worked out the way it was supposed to.

As we walk past Cam’s family, Declan reaches out and hugs us. Cam mini high fives Jenson’s two sons, and Bella leans over to kiss Cam’s cheek.

Before we can start walking again, Cam’s dad steps into the aisle and puts his arm around me. I’ve met his father a couple of times since Cam and I got engaged, and despite his and Cam’s rocky relationship, Mr. Wild has been nothing but cordial to me. I think he’s relieved that Cam has someone who adores him and wants nothing but the best for him.

“You’ll take good care of my boy,” he says to me in a low tone.

  “Always,” I assure him.

I pick up the train of my white dress and carry it in my free hand, my other one wrapped in Cam’s. We head for his truck and drive straight to my mother’s house.

The reception Mama planned goes smoothly, and despite my typical party anxiety, I have an amazing time. Cam’s family gets along well with mine, and his cousins and my sisters make sure the party’s lively.

Jenson’s kids take Nadine and Brad’s son, Christopher, under their wing, and soon the three of them are tearing through the house, playing tag.

Colton and Celie get everyone to try out karaoke with a portable machine Celie rented for today; even Mama belts out a rendition of Amazing Grace. Jasalie and Dylan perform a duet of their wedding song; they both look gorgeous doing it, but all the guys are cracking up at how off-key Dylan sounds.

Then Ayden convinces Bella, who’s nearly as shy as I am, to sing. She has such an incredible voice that nobody wants to follow her.

Molly and Jasalie chat about Molly’s social work job and Jasalie and Dylan’s plans to adopt. Allie and Molly are now an official couple, and Allie and Sky talk forever about Sky’s career as a television reporter, which happens to be Allie’s dream job.

I spend time getting to know Olivia and Leleila who, like all of Cam’s relatives, are so friendly and enthusiastic about welcoming me into their close-knit circle. Olivia and Jenson, and Leleila and Brayden, both went through quite a bit of hell to finally end up together, and I love hearing their histories. I get Bella to fill me in on her life with Ayden in L.A., and Sky pops by and makes us all laugh as she recounts how Jasalie and Dylan found each other.

It’s a perfect end to a beautiful day. At the stroke of midnight, Cam beckons me to follow him outside. We step into my backyard and he leads me behind a large tree where no one from the house can see us.

“I just wanted to see you alone,” he says. “How are you?”

I press my lips to his. “I’m perfect. I’m happy.”

“Me too.” He nibbles my bottom lip. “I love you, and I’ll spend the rest of my life making sure you always know that.”

I lean my body further into his, barely feeling the chill of the Minnesota winter. He’s mine, and I’m his. I found love when I never thought I deserved it. Just then, a shooting star crosses the sky.

“Make a wish,” I say softly as I point upward.

“Don’t need to,” he says in my ear. “I’ve got everything I want already.”

  Three Years Later

  Mountainview, Montana

Savannah checks the stick. Then she checks it again.

“It’s negative.” She hands it to me and plunks her cute ass down on the closed toilet. “Negative. Again. We’ve been trying for six months, Cam. Maybe it’s just not meant to be. Maybe I’m not supposed to be a mother.”

I take it out of her hand and look at it. “Um…Savannah?”

  “Yeah?”

  “It’s positive.”

Her eyes widen, and I swear I see a flash of unbridled joy. She jumps up from the toilet and crowds me into the sink. “What?!”

I show her the stick. Just like I said, a little plus sign is in the window.

“But it was negative just a few seconds ago!” Her cheeks flush with a new emotion I can’t read.

Not being able to read Savannah’s mood always makes me nervous.

“Sometimes things turn quickly.” I put my forehead to hers. “But the real point is: are you okay with this?”

I remember how conflicted she was about having kids when we first started dating.

But something changed inside of her after she and I got married and moved out here to Montana. Her heart, which had always been so guarded, opened up fully and let me in. And suddenly, things that used to scare her…excited her.

Maybe it was cutting the toxic cord with her father. Maybe it was seeing the pictures her dad sends us of him and his son, pictures I thought would tear my girl in half but actually helped her to heal. Maybe it was leaving the Cannons and the ice rink so that she can now focus on dancing full-time. She dances in a troupe, but she also teaches little girls how to dance—how to love their bodies and themselves the way I wish she had been taught.

And maybe it was watching Brayden and Leleila have twin girls and being able to babysit them as much as we like. Savannah and I decided to buy a home in the same town as Brayden and Leleila, and hanging out with my cousin all the time is something I’ve always wanted.

We’ve got more company than we even thought out here. Dylan and Jasalie, plus their three great kids that they adopted out of foster care, stay in their Montana home every offseason. Colton and Sky are thinking of buying a cabin in the Montana mountains so their two young sons can spend more time with their cousins. When Celie and Pru and their new little boy decided to relocate to Mountainview last year, it felt like our family unit kept growing. Savannah’s still trying to convince her mother and Molly to move here too.

Even Ayden and Bella, who still live in L.A. and return to Maine frequently, come see us as much as they can. And Jenson and Olivia have a daughter of their own now, and they like to bring her and Jenson’s two sons for annual visits.

A lot has changed, and I’ve changed also. I’m successfully running my own custom furniture business, a job I love and don’t feel forced into. I’ve healed too, with my own father, and that feels good to him and to me.

But the reason I’ve changed most of all? She’s standing right in front of me, her green eyes bright and her perfectly kissable cupid lips pink and moist as she licks them. And this? This little plus sign? It feels like one big positive in every way possible.

“Savannah.” I take her face in my hands. “How do you feel about being pregnant?”

She breaks into a gorgeous smile as she wraps her arms around my neck. “I feel good. So good,” she says as she locks eyes with me.

“Are you sure?” I grin back at her. “You want to have a baby together?” />
“I do.” She tilts her head. “Do you?”

My lips brush hers. “One hundred percent yes. I can’t wait.”

“I love you,” she says into my mouth.

  “I love you more.”

“This makes me so happy,” she whispers against my lips. “I feel so blessed, Cam.”

“So do I.” I kiss her lazily as if we have all the time in the world. Because we do.

  Mia

  I don’t do professional athletes. And I certainly don’t do one-night stands.

But after my father tells me to marry before he’ll let me take over his PR firm, which has been my one and only dream since I was a kid, I decide I need a night out.

And when a hot hockey player picks me out at the Cowboy Saloon in the heart of Wilcox, Montana, I decide I want to play.

He takes me to his home on a gorgeous ranch. We steam up the sheets all night long.

And in the morning, I leave him a thank you note and slip out while he’s sleeping.

I’m sure I’ll never see him again.

Until the next day, when my uncle introduces him as my future husband.

  Declan

Before I retire from playing professionally, I’m lining up my next shot—an ownership stake in the Montana Wild Kings hockey team. But the team’s got a PR problem, and they’ll never approve a bachelor.

I’m not in a relationship. I’m not even dating.

And I can’t remember the last time I was interested in someone. Until I go to the bar after the game to blow off some steam and figure out my next move.

That’s when I meet her. Mia. The first woman I can remember who doesn’t know I’m a big time hockey player.

After we spend an incredible night together, she bails.

  I figure that’s it.

Until my agent calls me into his office. The only other person in the room? Mia.

  My future wife.

We vow to keep our arrangement strictly professional so we both get what we want. But the more we face off, the more I want to score…
