I rose from the couch and pulled the door open. Bright eyes and a freckled face stared back at me. The redhead wore a flattering green tank top that exposed her arms.
“Sage!” I cried in excitement, pulling her into an embrace. We’d stayed in touch since she was released from the hospital, but I hadn’t seen her in a few weeks. “Come in. It’s not any nicer in here, though.” I opened the door wider so she could step inside.
“Sage,” my mom greeted from the couch. “Want a fan?”
Sage eyed the fan, and an amused smile played at her lips. “No, I’m okay. I actually just came to give you this.” She held out an envelope made of fine stationery.
“What’s this?” I asked warily, taking it from her hands.
“Well, after everything that happened a few months back, my therapist and I got to talking seriously. I asked her if there were any music therapy programs around, and she said she hadn’t heard of one in the area.”
I peeled open the envelope as she spoke.
“So, she suggested we start one. We have a huge group of teens who come together once a week for music group therapy, and we’re putting on a concert in a few weeks. I was really hoping you’d come. After everything you did for me, I just wanted to show you how much I appreciated it.”
“That’s so nice of you,” I said, pulling the invitation out of the envelope.
“We’ve been working on winter-themed songs.”
“Why winter?” I asked. “It’s not even autumn yet.”
Sage only smiled at me. That’s when I finally looked down at the invite and noticed the title of the concert:

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Inspired by Frost is my favorite book I’ve written to-date, but I couldn’t have done it without the help of some amazing people. First, thank you to my husband Paul, who never stops encouraging my writing. I’d also like to thank my team of beta readers, who have cheered for me throughout the entire series: Deb, Heather, Cindy, Candy, Jan, and Jennifer.
To my editor Emerald, thank you so much for catching my silly grammar mistakes (again!).
I also can’t thank Clarissa Yeo enough for the beautiful work she’s done on all the covers in the series.
To my PA Jennifer, thank you so much for helping put my books in more readers’ hands. It’s the reason I write, and you rock at your job!
Finally, thank you to my fans, readers, and reviewers. Your constant support, encouragement, and feedback have helped me become a better writer.
