Chasing Paige (Falling for Words Book 1) Page 14

by Tiffany Janine

“We’re his parents, damn it. Hopefully he’ll listen to us,” he interjects, frustrated.

“I really hope that he does, because I miss my brother. I used to look up to him, you know?”

The energy in the room has become somber. I hate to see my father so upset. What Dom is doing to his family…He’s destroying us. I pray that my parents get through to him, I do. If not…it’s only a matter of time before his liver becomes so beaten up and worn down, he’ll eventually die a lonely death, in some hotel room with no one around him. That thought sickens me and now suddenly I’m ready to go home and bury myself deep inside Paige. I need her so much right now, I can’t see straight.

Once my mom and Paige got back from their stroll, I told my parents that we were going to skip dessert, because driving all day wore me out. I needed to get home. In other words, I needed to take my woman to bed. Paige didn’t question my sudden change in behavior. I believe she knew exactly why I was acting closed off and more dominant than usual. She allowed me to take over and devour her body like there was no tomorrow. The night ended on a wonderful, blissful note.

  Paige is perfect for me.

The next day, I told Paige why I was acting so weird last night. I hadn’t been wrong, she already knew. She and my mother talked about Dominic during their time strolling around the garden. Just like my father, my mother is heartbroken and scared to death. How they’re going to bring their feelings up to Dom, is beyond me. I’m not sure if he’ll even be at the party tonight. But I guess we’ll just see what happens.

My mood needed to perk up before tonight, so Paige and I passed the time down in my bowling alley. We played a few games, in which we both kicked each other’s butts. It was incredibly fun. I love bowling. That’s why I chose to put one in when I had my house designed. Growing up, Dom and I used to go bowling almost every Friday after school. I was even on the bowling team. Yes, those were great times for sure.

We had such a good, relaxing day, I wasn’t in the mood for any party, but I was dying to see Paige in that dress Lynn had picked out for her.

In the full-length mirror in my bedroom, Paige is holding the dress up to herself with the most amazing gleam in her eyes. Her lips are turned up, along with a small bite to her bottom lip. The dress is strapless, short, silver sequined and hot as hell. I seriously cannot wait to see her in it.

“Wow, this is an amazing dress. So pretty,” Paige says, admiring the dress.

Coming up from behind her, I place my hands on her shoulders, and kiss the back of her neck. “And it will be exquisite on you.” We look at each other in the mirror for a short silent minute. Her smile always makes everything better.

Twisting around, Paige places the dress on the bed. “Who is all going to be there?” she asks.

I cross my arms over my chest. “A bunch of snobby friends that my parents work with. And, you’ll get to meet my sister, Molly. She’s been dying to meet you.”

  “Really? Ugh, I’m getting nervous.”

Moving closer, I try to help her relax by rubbing her arms up and down. “Hey…there is nothing to be nervous about. You’re an amazing woman, Paige. People like you because you’re naturally likable. You’re gorgeous, funny, down to earth, caring, you have a great sense of humor…” I trail off.

She nods her head, but then says, “Don’t stop, keep going.”

It’s hard for me not to laugh from her cuteness. Cupping her face I tell her, “You’re everything that a woman should be. And by the grace of God or fate, you were handed to me when I least expected it to happen.”

Letting my words sink in her head, she wraps her arms around me, and begins to breathe deeply against my chest. “Where on earth did you come from?” she whispers.

As much as I still hate not telling her the entire meaning behind our meeting, I instead tell her, “I’ve always been close to you. You just didn’t know it.”

  “I better get ready.”

I kiss the top of her head. “You do that. I’ll be waiting out back. Come find me.”

After styling my overgrown hair with a bit of gel, I put on my tux, socks and shoes and then head toward my den. In a safe near my desk, I reach for the little black velvet box that’s been sitting in there ever since I got home from Maui. I’ve been anticipating giving it to Paige and hope she likes it.

Stepping outside in the warm Arizona evening, I gaze out into the sunset when I turn and find the most gorgeous woman, slowly walking toward me. My mouth slightly opens, while my heart begins to beat out of control, I’m not so sure I’ll be able to contain myself all night. What she is doing to me right now is happily killing me. That dress…damn, that dress. It fits her like a glove, and most definitely was made for her.

Eying her up and down, I take in her luscious curves, her full breasts, legs that last for days and silver stilettos that make her calves look incredible. Her hair is up in some messy side bun that is incredibly sexy, with a pair of diamond studs in her ears. The naked neckline above her breasts is calling for my mouth. So the second we stand in front each other, I bend down to kiss her, all over. Up, down, and all around her sensational skin, I ravish her. Gripping onto my biceps, Paige lets out the sexiest cry ever, instantly making my crotch that much harder. If I could, I’d forget about the party and take her right here, right under the stars. She smells divine and is intoxicatingly lovely, I can’t stop worshipping her.

“You are the most ravishing woman I have ever seen,” I murmur across her jawline. Oh man, how she turns me on.

“Really?” she says, her breath erratic.

Parting my lips from her skin, I tell those beautiful brownies of hers, “Babe…never have I ever said something I don’t mean. You are an exquisite creature, and my God, I’m one lucky man. I can’t wait to show you off. No doubt, you’ll have heads turning.”

Her cheeks are rosy, and her smile says a million things. “Thank you.”

“Always,” I whisper, kissing her lips.

Placing the palms of her hands on my chest, Paige fingers her way up to my tie and pretends to straighten it. With hooded eyes she says, “By the way, you look really hot,” her words breathy and sensual, it turns me even more on.

So I grab her backside, giving it a good squeeze while I lick the outside of her lips, and then with one sweep, I’ve got her trapped. Mmmm. The taste of mint and lipstick sends shivers down my spine. She’s a great flavor.

“I have something for you,” I murmur across those luscious lips of hers.

  She gasps. “What?”

  “Turn around.”

“James, really, I don’t need anything else. You’ve done so much already.”

“Don’t argue with me and turn around.” She eyes me stubbornly. “Now,” I demand with a smirk.

She lets out a large huff. “Oh, alright.” I take the box out of my pocket and dissemble the white gold, three tiered Plumeria necklace, and then slowly place it around Paige’s neck and clasp it together. “Oh my God. Oh wow,” she exclaims. Turning back around, she gently raises the necklace and studies it. “It’s the most beautiful piece of jewelry I have ever owned.” Through her thick lashes, I see a glimpse of tears beginning to form. Her smile is radiant and the necklace looks amazing on her. I’m so glad she loves it.

When I first saw it I knew I had to get it for her. Plumerias have never looked the same since she came to Maui. Entwining her arms around my neck, she hugs me. “Thank you so much. I love it.”

“You are most certainly welcome. I’m glad you love it.”

“Of course I do.” She reacts surprised, but then takes my face into her hands and intently says, “I love you…so much.” Sucking in a breath, I think my heart just dropped into my gut, I can’t form any words. Paige continues, “It’s not about the necklace, Maui or being here in Arizona. I love you because you’re the kindest, most generous, loving man I have ever met. Because of you, I’m living again. I’m alive, once again and I owe it all to you. So thank you, for everything. Thank yo
u for bringing me back to life.”

My emotions are getting the best of me. I seriously think I’m going to break down and cry like a big baby. So instead, I kiss the hell out of her and show her how much her words and feelings do to me. I’m sure she can feel my reaction against her stomach when she moans inside my mouth. It’s a beautiful sound.

Touching our foreheads together, I tell her, “You have no idea how I have waited for you to say those words. You’ve made me so damn happy. I kiss her again. “I love you like you cannot believe.”

Soon after, we went to my parents’ party. By then, I was walking with a hard-on and the biggest grin , and the love of my life by my side.

  J.D. Parker - Minus

The screams are gone. I’m the only one left, waiting to die…whenever that will be. Who knew how long that other girl was here for, before he decided to chop her up? It could have been weeks since her capture.

I’ve been crying for, I don’t know how long, since that poor girl had been taken away. The way that maniac wrapped her up like a dead deer brought horrible thoughts to my head. Will I also be wrapped up like dead meat? Will he torture me first before he decides to end my life? Dying down here is all I can think about. It’s pathetic and makes me angry.

Hearing the rain above me brings the mood to be much more depressing. I don’t want to be alone anymore. I don’t want my life to end in someone else’s contaminated hands. What’s going to happen next?

I felt like a princess with my new dress, a beautiful necklace shining around my neck and my male beauty right next to me. It couldn’t have been more perfect. I never expected to get a gift from James. He’s done so much for me that the necklace threw me off. Plumerias are my favorite, and he remembered. It was the best gift I’ve ever gotten, and I will always treasure it, and probably will never take it off.

The second I saw James in his tuxedo, I almost fell to my knees. If I didn’t think he looked sexy before, hell, his male beauty practically consumed me. He really is the most gorgeous man I have ever laid my eyes on. There is not much he needs to do to appear perfect. Those blue eyes of his, sexy kissable lips, his unshaved face…I mean wowzers! Who knew a man could be that beautiful from not shaving? Shave or no shave, James is delish!

The way he gazed me up and down, I had never felt more beautiful in his eyes. I felt like he was imagining eating me up. I loved it, and couldn’t wait to show him how much I loved it after the party.

After letting the valet guy take James’ car, James wraps an arm around my waist and then guides me inside a glamorous five star hotel.

Once we reach the inside of the hotel elevator, I ask, “Do you know anyone who’s going to be here?”

“Maybe a few, but most of these people are from the University. I don’t really talk with them. I’m just here for my parents and to have my beautiful woman on my arm.”

Thinking I was going to be pretty funny, I joke with him. “Oh, I get it. I’m just your eye candy, then.” I nudge his side.

Apparently, my joke hit a nerve with him, because suddenly he backs me up against the wall of the elevator, and just grins at me for a moment. Our mouths are so close together, I can feel his hot breath. My heart begins to pitter-patter a beat faster. I just want him to take me right here. It’s not like me, but I wouldn’t give a care in the world who would see us. What do they say about elevators again? Yeah, my sex drive is way over the top right now.

With one arm caging me in, and a finger lifting up my chin, he says in a subtle, yet intense way, “You have a very smart mouth.”

My breathing escalates, and the only thing I can do is gulp. This sexy, dominate side of James is my favorite. As if he doesn’t already know, he makes me unsteady and hot. Slowly, James begins rubbing our noses together as he licks the outer part of my lips, and then goes in for the kill; hot, sultry and the most erotic kiss of my life. He just loves to steal the breath from my lungs, causing me to shake from being overly turned on. He is too hot for his own good.

The next thing I know, the ding from the elevator goes off, and we’re now at the top of the hotel. I had almost forgotten we were in an elevator, and arriving at James’ parents’ award party. The things that man does to me. Hoping I don’t look too flushed, I straighten myself up and step off the elevator with a smile. I really want to make another good impression.

Before we start fully walking inside the room, James pulls me aside. Taking my face into his hands, he firmly tells me, “You are not a prize, or just any woman on my arm to make me look good. You’re with me because I love you. Furthermore, I am beyond honored that I’m the man that you love. You’re no one’s eye candy…well, except maybe for me, but no one else’s.” He winks. All I can do is nod. He just keeps surprising the heck out of me. I don’t even know what to say. After giving me a quick kiss on the lips, he grasps onto my hand and leads me further into the grand ballroom.

The enormous room is filled with tables, chairs, and high class people that turn their heads the second we appear. I almost feel like we’re on display, it’s a bit intimidating to say the least. Everyone is dressed up as if they’ve just come back from the opera. They’re either holding glasses of champagne or dancing to a song from The Phantom of the Opera. See? The opera fits this crowd. I definitely need to get my hands on a glass of that bubbly. The nerves are getting the best of me. I’m not used to this type of crowd.

Immediately, we see James’ parents, and walk toward them. They’re both such nice people, and made me feel so welcome in their home last night. I was very grateful to their hospitality and for easing my anxiety. I wanted to make the best impression on James’ behalf and I believe I did a pretty good job.

Aside from that, I can see where James gets his looks. He’s the spitting image of his dad, except of course without the gray. And his mother is very pretty. She’s tall, has long blonde hair and striking green eyes. She’s got on the most beautiful satin blue dress, which looks amazing on her. It’s very eye catching.

“My goodness, don’t you look lovely,” Gwen tells me.

“Thank you, so do you.” I give her a hug, followed by a hug from Robert.

Then Gwen says, “We’re very happy you’re here with us tonight.”

“I’m glad to be a part of your special evening. Oh, speaking of which, here this is for you, for last night. Thank you for allowing me to be here tonight.” I brought along a bottle of wine for them and had it packaged in a dark red, leather wine purse. I almost kept that purse for myself, it was too cute.

“You are too kind, thank you Paige,” Robert speaks.

  “You’re very welcome.”

Gwen pulls me aside. “By the way, that dress is divine,” she compliments me.

“Thank you. James surprised me with it before I even agreed to come to the party. He got my best friend Lynn to help him out.”

  “My son, the romantic.”

“He’s rather wonderful.” I can’t help but smile. James really is romantic and a wonderful man. My spine suddenly shudders when I feel his hands on my shoulders.

“You two are making me blush,” he playfully says, following with a light kiss to my shoulder blade.

More shudders. Right after, a waiter hands us each a flute of champagne. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect.

We talk for a few minutes until Gwen excuses herself and Robert. “You two have fun. Mingle, and dance.”

Dance? This type of dancing is not for me. It’s made for people who have had practice at ballroom dancing.

“Shall we?” James asks holding out his hand. Well, when he looks so damn sexy, a little dancing doesn’t seem so bad after all. So before I take his hand, I gulp down my champagne like juice. I totally need my strength.

  “Whoa…a little thirsty?”

I grasp onto his hand. “It’s so yummy, I couldn’t just let it sit on the table and go to waste.”

“Too adorable.” He chuckles and then kisses my hand and spins me around onto the dance floor.
/>   The song has changed from classical, to someone playing: Through the Ghost, by Shinedown, in violin. It’s so beautiful. Taking me into his arms, James leads me around the dance floor as if he owns it. He’s light on his feet, smooth and sexy as all hell.

Who knew this man could dance! After another graceful spin I tell him, “You have some smooth moves, there, mister.”

  “Ballroom dance classes.”

“Seriously?” This throws me in for a loop.

Pulling me up close to his chest, James wraps an arm around my waist, gathers my right hand, and then entwines our fingers together. We sway back and forth, feeling the rhythm of the music. “Well, let’s just say that my mother had a dream about making her son into a professional ballroom dancer at one point in her life,” he informs me.

  I smile. “That’s too cute.”

  “It came in handy.”

“I’d say that it did, you’re a natural.”

James bends down and lands a kiss on my lips while we continue to dance. After much swaying, and spinning to a few more songs, I’m ready for a break.

With his hand on the lower part of my back, James guides me back over to our table. “Would you like some water?” he asks.

  “More champagne sounds better.”

“Sure, I’ll go fetch you some.”

“Thanks.” He plants a kiss on my forehead, and then walks away to hunt me down some more bubbly. This gives me a chance to text Lynn a few pictures. I haven’t really spoken with her since I arrived at James’ house. I’ve been so caught up in my own life, and my new relationship, I don’t want Lynn thinking I have forgotten about her. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t be here in this beautiful dress, and having the time of my life. She’s been such a rock, I owe her so much.

Immediately, after I send a text and a couple snapshots of me in my dress, and one with James in it, Lynn texts back all excited. She tells me how amazing I look and how gorgeous my male beauty is and how we look like movie stars. I smile at her response. It makes me so happy that she is so accepting of my love for James, and how she encourages us to be together. Having the two most important people in my life getting along is crucial and wonderful.
