by Harlow Thomas

Thomas settles on my other side, his fingers trailing across my clit in light, teasing touches. I buck and moan, the vibrations of my voice against Miller’s shaft sending him over the edge as he comes and fills my throat. I’m hovering on the precipice of ecstasy as Thomas works magic with his fingers. Sebastian stiffens further in my hand and cries out my name as his hot come shoots across my bare breasts.

Glancing down, I see Thomas, hard, needy, and ready for me. When I move to take him in my hand, he shakes his head. Garrett moves harder and faster as Thomas leans down and presents his throat to me. Without a second to spare, I pierce his vein and drink deep triggering my orgasm as Garrett finds his own climax inside my body. Thomas shudders and I feel the pulse of jet after jet of his release hit my belly.

I’m still drinking from Thomas. His blood is like candy, sweet and satisfying—addictive. I can’t stop. Panic niggles at my mind as I realize my instincts won’t let me stop feeding from him. I want it all. He tugs away but I clutch him to me, not wanting anything to separate us.

“Felicity, stop. You have to let him go.” I’m dimly aware of Miller’s voice in my ear. “You can’t keep us if you kill him.”

I can feel the pulse of Thomas’ heart as it slows. Warm hands slide over my arms and legs, over my scalp and my torso. My consorts are bringing me back to them. Releasing Thomas, I turn my head and close my eyes tight against the guilt building in my chest. Thomas breathes deep and slow, his heart still beating, his body still alive. I didn’t kill him, but I might have.

  Chapter 17

I can’t look at them as I get up and make a beeline for my bedroom. I know they’ll follow and I can’t stop them, but right now, I need to clear my head and figure out how I can keep them safe from me. Without closing my door, I stride into the bedroom and straight to the bathroom. Wrenching the faucet as hard as I can, I turn on the spray of water, heedless to the temperature. Blood paints my chest from where I’d been careless and bitten too deeply into Thomas’ throat. I’m covered in their come and sweat.

Stepping under the water, I yelp when the scalding heat burns me. I jump back and run into a wall of male chest.

“Let me help,” Thomas says as he turns the knob until the temperature cools. “It’s fine, Felicity. Why did you run?”

“I wasn’t going to stop. You tasted so good. Better than anything I’ve ever tasted. It’s just going to get worse. I’ll end up killing one of you if this keeps going on.”

He gets under the water with me and runs his fingers down my back. “You won’t. I know you won’t.”

  “How?”

“Because I love you. And I’m certain you love me.”

He’s right. I do. I love all four of them. Which is why I can’t feed from them any more. What if I do that again?

“You stopped, Felicity. I was never in danger.”

I can’t say anything else. I need time to think this through. He washes the blood and semen from my skin, taking special care between my legs. When he finishes, I take my turn and wash him. To my surprise, the bite mark on his neck is almost healed.

“How did you heal so quickly?”

He grins. “Fae blood. That’s probably why I tasted so good.”

“I knew it! Your eyes. I’ve only seen that color once and it was when a fae princess visited.”

Nodding, he shuts off the water and grabs a towel. “That's why I wanted to be last.”

“Because your blood would ruin me for the others. You should have gone first if you wanted to win.”

“Is it really winning if I cheat?”

Shaking my head, I wrap my body in a towel before twisting my hair into another. “I suppose not. It doesn’t matter now.”

  “Why?”

“Because I’m not choosing. I can’t. We’ll stay here, the five of us, together in this paradise.”

A sad look passes over his face. He gestures for me to sit on the bed and finds my robe on its hook. Handing the plush white fabric to me, he gestures to the open door. I shrug into the robe and pull the towel out of my hair as the other three men I love walk into my room. They’re all dressed, which is a pity now that I’ve seen them naked.

“You have to choose, Felicity,” Thomas says. “If you don’t, you can’t ascend and the humans won’t stand a chance without leadership keeping the vampires from attacking.”

I huff and cross my arms over my chest. “Fine. I’ll choose one of you for show and keep the rest with me. I love you all. I can’t let you go.”

Garrett’s gaze snaps to mine. “You love us?”

Nodding, I smile. “I do. I didn’t plan on it, but it’s the truth.”

  “I love you too, Felicity.”

Miller comes close and takes my hand. “So do I.”

“As do I,” says Sebastian, bowing his head.

“So it’s settled. I’m not choosing.”

“But, that’s not how it works. You can’t,” Thomas says, stepping toward me. “You won’t ascend.”

Nodding, I stare him down. “Exactly. I’m not going back if I can’t take you all with me.”

Garrett smiles, his achingly handsome face lighting up as though I just gave him the gift he’s always wanted. Then everything around us darkens, my vision blurs as blue mist overtakes us, causing nausea to take hold in my stomach. The world fades from view and in moments I realize what has happened.

I blink through the haze until everything comes into focus. Familiar stone walls, tapestries, candles, and above all, darkness.

  I am home.

My chest hurts at the thought of being without my consorts. Until I realize they are standing in the hall with me. The four of them all hold defensive postures. They know the danger being human in the home of the vampire queen poses.

  “Felicity?” Miller asks.

The sharp click of heels on the stone floor ratchets my heartbeat up to a panicked speed. She’s coming.

“Daughter,” my mother says as she turns the corner and appears. “You’ve gotten yourself into a bit of a mess.”
