by Rhonda Lee Carver

She arched her back, laying her head onto one shoulder and a ghost of a smile appeared on her pretty lips. He caught the silent invitation written in her gaze. He’d give her what she wanted—more. He brushed his knuckles over her swollen nipples and she gasped, her irises turning darker. A jolt of awareness raced through him and his breath hitched. He’d never been this close to coming without being touched.

“You’re like a dream…an angel sweeping back into my cold, grey life,” he whispered.

She dragged in a ragged breath as their gazes held, silent music played between them, lulling them with gentle chords. Her tongue swept out over her full bottom lip and the plush curve puckered ever so slightly, followed with quivering. How could he want her so badly that he’d be willing to jump through a fire just to have her? What magical power came over him each and every time she was near—each time she looked up at him with those baby blues that begged for pleasure. He’d loved her so long he couldn’t remember a time when his heart didn’t have Krista tattooed in every corner.

Her fingers dropped to the waist of his jeans and she slid one tip along the material teasingly, stopping at the button and tapping the metal. He could feel the trembling in her fingers as she tugged at the waist. The button popped and the sound of the zipper hissed through the quiet pounding of his heart in his ears. Sparks sizzled within him, reminding him of water being splashed onto a hot grill—a forewarning of the storm that was about to be unleashed in his bed, or on his dresser. He’d take either. She pushed her hands into his jeans, slipping her palms between the suffocating denim and his ass that he had clenched tightly as he held back. She palmed his buttocks, squeezing, kneading. “Still very tight,” she whispered.

He threaded his fingers through her hair, tilting her face up so he could see her better. Her eyes drifted closed. He touched her chin with his thumb and her eyes fluttered open, her pupils dilated. “Tonight, my love, I show you that this is real. This is more than just lust for two people in paradise.”

He bent his head and took one breast into his mouth, sucking the swollen nipple deep into his mouth. Her hips gyrated in summons, and he knew then there was nothing in the world—money nor possessions—that he wanted more than to sink his body deep inside of her and make her fully his again.

Quickly discarding his jeans and boxers, his cock shot up and saluted the ceiling, but he needed to take things slow. There was already pre-cum on his head that warned he was ready to squirt.

Krista’s knees parted. Her core glistened and the groomed pink flesh welcomed him—enticed him with a promise of pleasure. The flushed lips were enlarged, telling him of her urgent need. This excited him more. He couldn’t let another second pass before he touched her, so he did. She jerked slightly when he parted her moist seam with his thumb, her dampness wetting his knuckles. He caressed the silken folds until her legs parted wider and her feet were pressed against the edge of the top drawer. She clung to his shoulders in eager anticipation, her nails digging into his flesh.

He slipped a finger inside of her, thrusting the digit around her tight, slick muscles, and her deep moan encouraged him to use two fingers. She clenched his knuckles as he glided in and out.

  “Is this good, baby?”

“Yes, Dodge. So good. So right.”

“It only gets better.” He kissed her quickly on the lips, placed butterfly kisses on her chest and slid his tongue over her flat stomach. Her flesh quivered under his lips as he continued to pleasure her with his fingers, rolling the pad of his thumb over the damp folds.

“Dodge,” his name floated from her lips, like the sweet sound of a cherub tempting him to hand over his heart.

He situated his face between her legs and inhaled her sweet intoxicating scent. He wanted a sample of her delicacy. Something he’d craved since he saw her sitting on the bench under the tree, seconds before she passed out. Hell, honestly, further back then most recently. He’d dreamt of her every night. He darted his tongue over the slick seam, rolling over the flesh, caressing her with the tip. He stroked her until she was bucking hard against his mouth and he controlled her movement with his hands on her hips. He circled his tongue around her clit, faster and faster, swirling the engorged flesh. He continued to slide his finger in and out, until he felt her inner muscles clench and her juices thickened.

“Yes, baby, come for me,” he urged.

She cried out and he drank up the sweet release of pleasure. When her spasms slowed, he stood and looked down at her, met with a come-hither expression. He scrubbed the back of his hand across his wet mouth. “My God, you’re beautiful.”

She didn’t respond, except to stare up at him, her bottom lip trembling. One corner of her mouth lifted into a smile, as prideful as the cat who killed a fat rat. His heart kicked up and he knew he’d never be the same again.

“I want you, Krista,” he murmured.

“Take me, please. Fill me,” she pleaded.

He situated himself between her thighs. She lifted her hips high, stabling herself on the flat of her hands, meeting him. In one thrust, he buried himself inside of her like a raging missile in search of its target. He plunged deep, burying his cock to the hilt as she accepted him completely into her body. He had to slow though because she wrapped around him in a vice-like hold and, if he wasn’t careful, he’d blow like a steam engine. He opened his eyes and she was staring at him—her expression full of emotion—full of love? Oh shit!

She brought her hand up and cupped his cheek. A silent message passed between them. He knew this wasn’t just a fuck, never would be. Love still existed, strong and vital.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and held him as he penetrated her tight, luscious body. The outfit was tangled around her waist, and with deft hands, he grabbed and ripped it from her body. Now he could see all of her, touch all of her. She lowered her hand to his balls and he sucked in a breath as she stroked him gently, causing him to grow at least another inch. “I have an idea, Dodge.”

He felt her shift, not understanding what she was doing through the haze of his sated brain. She was pressing his chest. He stepped back, allowing her room as she turned and leaned over the top of the dresser, her ass high in the air looking tight and delicious. His control was paper thin and a blast of tingles forged through him. He couldn’t believe how damn sexy she was, standing there naked wearing the heels that made her legs look like they went on for miles. She bent over more and he could see the silk dampness on her body. His cock jerked in bittersweet pain.

Guiding his tip to her slit, he entered her again. It took him a good five seconds to adjust to the tight pleasure of her body before he could start moving. He brought his arm around her waist, slipped his hand between her and the dresser, found her clit, and played with the bud while thrusting in and out of her, fast and hard. The wood squeaked and cracked, but neither of them worried. The cabin could fall down around their ears, but they’d still stay latched in passion.

She watched him through the mirror hanging on the wall as he continued to stroke her pussy with his cock and his fingers. The tremors came and she quivered against him, collapsing to the top of the dresser, knocking over the clock to the floor and it cracked. Her eyes closed and her lips parted, and he knew she was coming for the…what was it? Third time? She milked his cock with her tight muscles until he couldn’t hold back another second.

He let go…but not of her.

  CHAPTER SEVEN

KRISTA TAPPED AWAY at the keys of her laptop, filling in the blanks of a scene in her book that involved one handsome ghost hunter with Dodge’s penetrating eyes and a lost ghost, when she heard a knock on her cabin door. She looked up from the screen, curious. Dodge said he wouldn’t be back until later so who would be visiting?

Getting up, she went to the door, opened it, finding an exotic-looking Asian woman standing on the step.

  “Yes?”

  “Krista?” the petite brunette asked.

  “Yes, I’m Krista.”

I’m Dorothy, one of the staff here. You’re scheduled for a massage and a pedicure.” Her smile blossomed and her cheeks flushed.

“A massage? A pedicure? I think you have the wrong cabin.”

  “You’re Krista, right?”

  “Yes, but I didn’t order a massage.”

The other woman winked. “Dodge made the arrangements. Is it okay if I grab my things from the cart and get set up?”

“Uh…” Who would ever turn down princess treatment? No one. “Sure.”

“While I set up, why don’t you get undressed, wrap in a sheet and meet me out here when you’re finished,” Dorothy said sweetly.

Getting a massage and a pedicure wasn’t exactly what she’d had planned, but who was she to argue? She found Dodge’s gesture sweet and kind. She was feeling a little raw between her thighs. A woman didn’t ride a cowboy built like a stallion without having side effects.

By the time Krista made it out of the bathroom with her naked body covered in a sheet just as requested, Dorothy had the table set up and was laying out a bottle of oil and towels. “Ready?”

  “Yes.”

Dorothy patted the table and Krista climbed on top as she allowed the sheet to drift from her body. She’d never been self-conscious about her nudity and felt very comfortable in the privacy of her cabin as Dorothy rubbed her oil-covered hands over Krista’s shoulders.

She relaxed into the table, feeling all of the stress melt away from her body, but as she melted into tranquil bliss, her mind drifted to images of Dodge. His smile. His broad shoulders. The gift of his large, calloused hands on her sensitive body. After they’d made love twice last night, they’d crawled into bed and fell asleep in each other’s arms. It felt like old times, yet nothing was the same. They weren’t the same. When she awoke this morning, he was already gone, but he’d left her a note written in marker on his pillow case, “Thank you. See you later, beautiful.”

She wanted to believe that there was hope for them, their relationship, but lots of time had passed. Each of them had experienced other lovers. Had grown and matured, and become different people. Sure, the connection still seemed strong between them, but was it only a sexual need? How could one know when they couldn’t keep their hands off one another? If she was sore below, he must be chafed too. Would they be back to the way they were—two lost souls that loved each other so much that it became an obsession?

Yes, they were different, but so were the circumstances. She’d found being married to a man who had females falling at his feet or slipping worn panties inside of his pocket when he wasn’t looking to be difficult. She’d never been overly jealous, it wasn’t that emotion, but even she had her limits when it came to the outrageous actions of the fans.

Dorothy moved to her legs, rubbing Krista’s calves, and she was in heaven. The feeling was amazing.

“I sense you have a lot on your mind.” Dorothy put more oil on her hands and continued on Krista’s back, kneading the tight muscles.

She squinted. “I can only say that I’ve never been so uncertain of what I should or shouldn’t do.”

“When I was little, my mom told me that when I’d face a hard decision to ask myself, “In twenty years, which will matter most? The path I took or the one I didn’t take? It’s best to have ventured down the path that offers contentment, instead of the one that offers regret.”

Krista pressed her face into the hole on the table. If only she knew the answer…

Her fear of getting hurt again lingered in the back of her mind. She couldn’t recover again from another heart break.

Rubbing the bridge of his nose, Dodge inhaled the savory, delicious smells of roasted chicken and vegetables as Deke prepared the lunch Dodge planned to take to Krista in her cabin. He smiled, thinking that she was probably just finishing up with her pampering. He knew many of the guests enjoyed having a massage in the privacy of their cabins. Dorothy was the best.

After what they’d shared last night, he should be satiated, but instead his dick pressed his zipper as he imagined Krista laid out on the table naked and slick with oil. Not only was his cock engorged, but so was his chest. Maybe he should have offered to give her a massage himself, but he knew how magical Dorothy’s hands were. He was no match.

He woke up that morning holding his wife, and everything seemed clear. He couldn’t miss the opportunity for a second chance with the only woman he’d ever loved.

Krista had landed back into his heart. He had no idea if she still wanted a divorce, but he had a feeling it was still on the table. He was prepared to do anything to get her to rethink the decision because there was no way in hell he could let her walk out of his life again—at least not without a fight. She just needed to see that although ten years had passed, they were still the same two people connected with a love that wasn’t easy to find.

He'd gotten another call from his dad that morning, asking if he was any closer to a decision than he was two days ago. In fact, Dodge was indeed. He’d decided that he needed to go home, needed to be close to his family, and hoped that Krista would agree to come with him. She could write at the resort. What better place? The scenery was beautiful and he’d build her own space if she wanted. He’d made his mind up and the ball was rolling.

Hell, and if Krista didn’t want to move to Montana, then he’d gladly go back to Ohio with her, if that’s what she wanted. He had to first go back to Montana and catch up on business. She’d understand that.

Shit! When had he made his mind up about so many things? Just like that. When it came to Krista, he didn’t have any hesitation. He only hoped she felt the same way, especially when he told her that he’d give her the child, the family, she desperately wanted.

“Dodge, you’ll never believe what I have.” Tera joined him by the kitchen window.

“How many guesses do I get?” He already had a good guess. He’d spoken with Krista and told her all about Tera’s admiration.

“No, you’ll never guess. I’ll tell you. The author, Kris Fox, had her editor overnight me every paperback of her books and she autographed them. I’m in hog heaven.”

Dodge smiled. “Now you can piss Deke off more by sneaking off and reading.” He winked.

“All I can say is she is the sweetest lady I’ve ever met. I ain’t one for playing cupid or nothin’, but I think you should ask the pretty lady to take a walk and get to know her.” She pulled on her apron.

  “Is that a fact?”

“Yes it is.” She whistled as she gathered the potatoes from the bag.

Finally, Deke finished packing up the lunch into a basket and handed it over to Dodge. “Can’t thank you enough, man.”

Deke nodded. “It ain’t any of my business, but sure seems like you’re going out of your way for the lady.” He smiled.

“The lady is my wife, bro.” The words came out so easily that they even took Dodge by surprise. Deke’s shock wasn’t nearly as profound as Tera’s. The knife dropped to the counter with a loud ding and her color went pale.

“I-I’ll be a flying donkey,” Tera muttered.

“Sorry, Tera, that I didn’t tell you sooner. And you’re right, Krista is a sweet woman.” He mashed his hat back on his head.

With his basket, he rode the Gator to Krista’s cabin and knocked on the door. She opened and his breath hooked. Her hair was wild around her glowing face. Her eyes glistening and she wore a thin T-shirt and cut offs that landed on her thighs where he’d like to grab while he thrust…

Shit! He had to get his mind off the sex track.

Balancing the basket with his shaking hands, his jeans stretched uncomfortably. He got an image of her stretched out underneath him, her arms high over her head and him stripping the shorts from her body with his teeth. Yes, that would come later, but right now they needed nourishment. He’d pounded fences all morning, tended to the horses, and raked muck after only getting two hours of sleep. He was dog tired.

“Get some writing done?” he asked as
he stepped past her, placing the basket on the table.

“I did, until I had a surprise visitor. Thank you, Dodge. That was very sweet of you, and exactly what I needed. And it looks like you’re full of surprises today.” Her smile lit up the room.

Damn did he hope she loved him like she used to.

  Patience…

“Lunch, sweetheart.” He reached into the basket and took out the two plates piled high with roasted chicken, vegetables and rice. “And for dessert…” He held up another plate of Deke’s famous dessert. “Guests can’t stop talking about this chocolate concoction. People have offered to pay him for his recipe. He refuses.”

“You’re spoiling me.” She peeled back the plastic on the plate, pulled off a small piece of chicken and popped it into her mouth. “Oh my heavens. That’s moist and delicious.”

“How about we take our plates out onto the patio and sit and relax?” he asked.

“I think that sounds great. You take the plates, don’t forget the dessert. I’ll pour us a glass of sweet tea.”

Once they were sitting on the patio, plates in their laps, Dodge held up his glass, “To new beginnings.”

She clinked her glass to his. “I’m not keeping you from work, am I?”

“No.” He popped a piece of carrot into his mouth and chewed thoughtfully. He eased back into the frame of the chair and stretched his legs, watching as she cut into her chicken and ate. “Krista…”

“Yes?” She lifted one groomed brow.

How could they be at such ease as if they were an old married couple just enjoying dinner together? “I’ve decided to resign from Nirvana.”

She nibbled her bottom lip thoughtfully. “You’re going back home?”

He nodded. “I already told dad I’d be there soon. It feels like the right thing to do,” he said.

One corner of her mouth lifted and her eyes sparkled. “I agree. I think you’ll be happy there.”

“I want you to go with me.” The words were out. There was no holding back any longer.
