A Charming Ghost (Magical Cures Mystery Series) Page 14

“The ghost boy who almost ruined my wedding was here because he loved the ostrich. When Paul decided not to go through with the deed tasked to him by Ezmeralda after he saw my photo of Eloise in my shop, Ezmeralda followed him to the woods killing him and making it look like I did it.” I pointed to Constance Karima. “The autopsy shows that Paul had a strike to the heart, which is Ezmeralda’s specialty. One blow from her hand and you die.”

  The crowd behind me gasped.

“As Petunia told you, Ezmeralda confessed to coming back to take over the spiritual world. I had been named the Chosen One. I lived up to my title by killing Ezmeralda. Now I just want to be Oscar Park’s wife and owner of A Charming Cure. Live a simple life in Whispering Falls.” I smiled at Oscar.

He stood next to The Gathering Rock with his Whispering Falls police uniform on. There was pride on his face.

  “I love you,” he mouthed.

The Marys gathered in a circle, floating above the rock. They talked among themselves. I wasn’t sure what their verdict would be and I wasn’t sure what my punishment was going to be. All I knew was that I was Oscar’s wife and I had fulfilled my destiny as the Chosen One.

The Marys floated down and landed square on their feet. Mary Ellen smacked the gavel on The Gathering Rock.

“Here by the Order of the Elders, we hereby sentence you to a week long honeymoon. Upon your arrival home, you will resume all duties as the owner of A Charming Cure and wifely duties to Sheriff Oscar Park.”

The crowd behind me erupted in hoots and hollers. Oscar swept me off my feet and swung me around.

“I love you.” I gave him little kisses all over his face.

“Honeymoon!” Oscar threw his head back and laughed. “Finally.” He set me back on the ground. “Where are we going to go?”

“Somewhere sunny and not in the spiritual world.” I grinned from ear-to-ear. I could already feel the warm sand between my toes.
