Sam and Alyssa made their way out and Lola put Nolan down for a nap. He had to be tuckered out from constantly being played with by Alyssa. Lola began tidying up the house, cleaning all the debris from the baby storm that happened in her house. While sweeping the kitchen, she noticed a small green journal sitting on the table. It wasn’t there in the morning, so she concluded that it had to belong to Sam. Before calling him to come back for it, she noticed on the cover it said, “For Lola”.
Lola opened the small journal to see notes dated from when she and Sam were in a relationship. It answered so many questions Lola had during that time. He wrote about why he left each situation without saying anything. “I wanted to tell her, but I knew our relationship would eventually not work. I didn’t want to lose her,” Lola read, while tearing up. “I fall more and more in love with her each time,” she read on. “I love her, and I probably always will.” Lola put the book down and laid her head in her hands. After five years, she was feeling all of those emotions all over again. She remembered how hard it was for her to get throughout her days, just by thinking of him.
She was thankful that she conducted the life she did. Marriage, children and a successful career was what Lola had always wished for. Lola could never forget her relationship with Sam. Not only was it extremely out of the ordinary, but it was passionate. Never would she have thought to fall so hard for a man in mask, let alone her stepbrother. She picked the journal back up and read a little more of it. It’s not that Lola wanted to pursue the past or even get entertainment of it. She simply wanted to see the situation through his eyes. Sam made it look so beautiful. He wrote of her as a goddess, something she always she have been treated as. Lola could never forget about Sam. He was, after all, her first love.

Sabin, Mitch and Rachel sat at the table talking and drinking what smelled like Earl Grey tea. Colette joined them and sat next to her mother. Her mother grabbed her hand and looked at her daughter.
"Sweetheart, we were thinking that you could go with Sabin. He's going on a cruise to the Bahamas and we thought it would be good for you." Sabin nodded at what Rachel was saying.
"I'll have to think about it mom. Thank you though." Collette looked down at her lap and let her heavy head fall into her arms.
Rachel and Mitch excused themselves and retreated from the awkward moment and went to their safe haven bedroom. Sabin awkwardly sipped at his tea and didn't look at Colette. An odd tension hung in the air as the two sat silently. Colette picked at her nails and avoided eye contact. She couldn’t help but think about what Mitch was doing. He had sounded so angry about the divorce. It was the most passion she had seen come from the man in years. Sabin’s voice brought Colette back to reality.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked in his husky voice.
"No, I don't want to talk about it. I just left him. There was no big thing that made me do it. I just don't love him anymore." Colette was on the verge of tears, and Sabin laughed. She shot him a look that made his laughter stop.
"I meant about the cruise. That really is too bad though. I'm sorry." His voice sounded sincere and genuinely apologetic.
"No I told you so?" Colette asked looking at her brother with perplexed eyes.
"Not from me." He shrugged. "If you decide that you want to talk about it, I'm here, it should be really relaxing.”
Colette got the feeling that he wasn't talking about the cruise anymore. Sabin excused himself, got up and went into his bedroom. He had looked so different from the last time she had seen him. His hair was cut short and he no longer wore a beard, and the navy had done his body well.
He had been out of the navy for nearly two years now and from what Rachel had told Colette, he missed it but he was enjoying being a cruise ship captain.
